Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I found out that I was misdiagnosed with ADHD 10 years ago and instead have bipolar disorder. For the last 10 years I have been taking meds that helped me focus on my manic / depressive state. FML
Today, after a lifetime of struggles, I was finally officially diagnosed with ADHD. Thanks to years of ridicule, punishments, humiliation and even beatings over something I literally could not control, I also have terrible depression and anxiety. My mom still thinks I’m making it all up. FML
Today, I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. I have no idea if when I feel an emotion if it's me or my disorder. I'm my brain's bitch. FML
Today, my mother threw a fit because the psychologist she got me suggested I visit a psychiatrist. Apparently, it's my fault because I "choose" to be so "crazy". FML
Today, my mom read my diary. Then she frantically booked me an appointment with a psychiatrist. FML
Today, I found out three things: One, I was apparently diagnosed with Tourette's as a child. Two, my parents apparently told everyone about it, and had no idea that I didn't know about this. Three, that the diagnosis is possibly incorrect. I'm in for quite the time. FML
Today, I told my mom that I was taking antidepressants because I hate myself. She said "That's not surprising. You hate everybody. And, you're kind of a bitch." FML
Today, I found out the reason my mom took over 9 months to get me a therapist and much needed help after I told her how I had been depressed and suicidal for over two months. It wasn't because it was hard to find one, but actually because she thought I was making it up to cushion the fact that I got a C in a class. FML
Today, I saw a psychiatrist for the first time. After telling her everything I'm going through, she looked at me and said "You know… every five years or so I get a case completely beyond my ability to help." I guess it's been five years. FML
Today, I talked to my boss about the fact that I have been diagnosed as bipolar and I am having a really hard time with it. He told me to look on the bright side, now that I'm crazy I will never have to do Jury Duty. FML

That's what being bi-polar is. I'm bi-polar. If I don't take my pills I'm a dick half the time.

Just because her mom knows her doesn't mean she lives with her.

In my experience, being a raving bitch half the time is a pretty accurate description of bipolar people.

I'm so sorry. I didn't get diagnosed with a certain disorder until I'd lost almost all my hair and was in college and on my own health insurance- my mom thought I was just fat and lazy. Once I took the right medicine, I dropped 90lbs in 6 months. Some people just don't understand medicine (especially in mental health), and just blame the patient.

You have enjoyed 13 years of legal adulthood. I think you can accept responsibility for your own medical issues at this point.

No dude, you're just stupid. I agree with #49, get your facts straight before you say something totally absurd like that.

I'm sorry you ended up being bipolar too. My dad still won't believe I am and I was diagnosed 6 years ago. My family still believes that I just have never ending PMS.

It's not a choice. It has to do with the structure of your brain being messed up.
