Avoidance
Today, I avoided planning an event for three years. I was saved by COVID in 2021, and 2020. It's now supposed to be happening next week, and I haven’t done anything. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I was supposed to get married. Unfortunately, it was cancelled because of the coronavirus. FML
Today, it's one day away from my wedding and two days away from our honeymoon trip. Today is also the day that, after dodging it for two years, I got Covid. FML
Today, I have to reschedule the vacation I had planned for eight months because I have the flu, and feel too sick to go and enjoy myself at a waterpark. This vacation is the only thing that's kept me sane these last two months. FML
Today, I posted an event to have a get together with friends. Most of them put "not attending". I hadn't even set the date. FML
Today, I turned down a chance to go to a bar with a girl I like because I have an autoimmune disorder and don't want to get sick because of being irresponsible and obviously COVID 19. FML
Today, I was supposed to have my bridal shower, an experience I’ve looked forward to since I was a little girl. Yesterday I tested positive for Covid, for the third time in three years. FML
Today, I realized I've been avoiding a doctor's visit for issues, because it might be less painful to go out that way than to see how much more a crapshoot 2021 would be. FML
Today, I got my first positive Covid test. It's also the first day of a week-long vacation that included two things I'd been planning for weeks that I haven't done in years, and a trip somewhere I've been looking forward to for months. All shot to hell right before it began. FML
Today, instead of getting ready for Mother’s Day weekend, I’m recovering from emergency surgery. Last year my kid gave me COVID for Mother’s Day. The year before, my whole family forgot. FML
Today, I realized this virus pandemic lockdown had no effect on my love life as I spent another free night cutting 1/4 inch thick calluses off my feet, as I have done before all this happened two years ago. FML

Be honest with your friends or whoever this was about. Maybe their interest has changed too, but you won’t find out if you don’t share your feelings honestly and in a non-confrontational way. Be true to your own values and interests. Ultimately that will be best. My personal rule of thumb is that if you postpone some planned event more than once, you really don’t want to do it. Sometimes we still need to do some things for family or work, but at least you understand what your own feelings really are.
