Today, my girlfriend dumped me for refusing to stop talking to my female best friend. When I pointed out that my friend's a lesbian, she said, "How the hell does that change anything?" I have no idea why I'm not happy to be rid of that paranoid imbecile. FML
Today, the nutcase I was dating broke up with me because I don't want to open a shop with his broke ass using my lifelong saved money. He's now throwing all I told him in confidence back in my face. FML

Today, my supposed "best friend" started going out with the girl I'd just split up with, immediately after she said she wanted to see other people. FML
Today, I was dumped by my girlfriend due to our long distance relationship. She then agreed to date my best friend who lives in the same town as me. FML

Basically a book rather than an essay you write in college for a Ph.D degree, and after you write it, you usually have a verbal defense of your points. It's like the dog ate his homework, but on a college level.

Sue for time loss, personal property damage, and what you have to spend rebuilding it if postponing the defense means another semester of school paid (damages). Also, I keep my personal files on a thumb drive no one knows I have. And my fiancé has female friends. Often married or taken. I don't expect him to never speak to a female again. That would be rather abusive.

OP, do you email your dissertation to your committee chair periodically? Granted I'm just getting my masters and my thesis chair has me email her every week. Granted you could have had a great week, wrote 20 pages... But that's better than starting from the beginning.

Kill the bitch. No seriously, if somone would have deleted my dessertation (I know how much time that takes) I would want to kill him/her. Leaving aside that this makes problems, not solves it, but hey... I hope you can get back to her one day, otherwise be happy that u doged that bullet. Unfortunatelly not soon enough, but better late than never. Also-your female best friend? If my bf was best friends with a girl in which they were really close and spent extended periods of time alone, then yeah, I would be concerned, the same way I would expect my bf to feel if I hung out with one guy all the time. She's not wrong for being concerned.
