Today, I was called a "Potato" for at least the 30th time by people online for living in Idaho. I've lived here my whole life, I have yet to see a potato farm. None of these people has even left the East Coast. FML

Don't worry OP, I'm sure you'd be a sweet potato. All corniness aside, don't take it too seriously, those people are living in ignorance.

I wonder. if someone from the south marries someone from Montana would their children be accused of dating their cousin's sheep.

I feel ya, but Idaho is a great place to live. I wouldn't trade it for anywhere. I haven't ever seen a potato farm either.

At least you don't have to live with the stereotype of being a trigger happy redneck that dates their cousins. Every state has their stereotypes

Anytime someone tells me they are from Idaho, I just say Idapimp.

I've been through idaho a few times. I've seen 5 or so potato farms. I'm from the east coast.

East Coast people have no idea what happens over here op, you'll be fine.

I met folks on the east coast who told me California wasn't geographically or culturally diverse, then added that they should solve the drought by getting water from Arizona. When they found out I was from Texas, they were floored - where's my accent? Where's my gun? Where's my hat? (I know two people who own a gun, one person with an accent, and no one who wears hats.) In short, don't take it too hard. They're in love with themselves and don't know what the hell they're talking about.

And yet, very, very few people actually know that Idaho is nicknamed the the gem state. Even growing up there, people seemed to only know it for potatoes. On a side note, I've seen numerous potato farms and even worked on them. I assume OP is from western ID, near Boise where there aren't many farms.
