Today, I got my annual blood test. The nurse was inexperienced and it took her several tries to insert the needle properly. When I get back home, my fiancé starts yelling at me and storms out. The reason? I am a recovering drug addict and my arm appeared as if I had been shooting up. FML

Hey, at least you're recovering and you have a fiance. That's good. Your life is good.

YDI for being a drug addict in the first place.

Ignore all the jerks saying that you deserve this for doing drugs. Lots of people develop problems with drugs and many of them don't recover so good job getting yourself back on track. Just explain what happened and I'm sure she'll understand.

To those saying it has to be fake because it's an annual blood test... my family doctor does a slew of tests on me annually to check on my thyroid, cholesterol, potassium, sodium, etc. It's not unusual at all if you have a good doctor. To those who are going off about nurses. I AM a new nurse, been graduated for three months, and let me tell you, it is a pain in the butt getting a vein that isn't big, juicy and popping out some. In the US, our general rule is two tries, then go for a more experienced nurse, but that's not the same case in other countries. And finally, to OP, good on you for having quit. Sucks that your fiance is going to be a little suspicious now, but at leas it does show that he cares. Sit down with him, talk about it, don't stay angry at him for the instant suspicion, and try not to let him stay angry. If he's the type of guy you're willing to marry, he should understand.

Lies! You probably were shooting up.

its really not that big a deal. if you were shooting up, he wouldve been able to tell by looking at your eyes, talking to you, anything, especially if he was used to telling when you were ****** up. let him know whats up, take him to the blood drive and show him you were there if he doesnt believe you. if you really werent high then this isnt an FML, and if you actually were high, you absolutely derserve it.

Personally. I'm with #45. She should have "Connected the dots" I also agree that if you had been using, there clearly would have been symptoms. Assuming is a huge downfall for most, and in this situation for you and your fiance. FYL.

i agree with the people that say the OP should have shown the nurse how to do it. people with that kind of experience usually tell the nurse exactly where they want it. i've had plenty of patients like that...
