Today, I got my annual blood test. The nurse was inexperienced and it took her several tries to insert the needle properly. When I get back home, my fiancé starts yelling at me and storms out. The reason? I am a recovering drug addict and my arm appeared as if I had been shooting up. FML

At least here if a nurse needs to draw blood or something that requires a vein and a needle they have I think 2 or 3 tries to get it done then if they can't they have to pass that duty off to a more experienced nurse. I have deep veins and people have a hard time finding them sometimes so I have one spot I favor when they draw blood (I donate a lot) and that is the easiest place for them to draw blood so I don't get stabbed a million times. Also next time request an experienced nurse because you already know you have problems with your veins

u should hav asked the nurse 2 get a more experienced nurse 2 help or even a real doctor. i say YDI b/c why in the heck would u sit there and let her repeatedly poke u with a needle?! Granted, ur obviously not afraid of needles but still - especially since u knew what it would look like. Think next time.

Doctors have no idea how to draw blood, and many nurses are not well trained either. Phlebotomists are specifically trained to draw blood. If you're going to request anyone to draw blood, request them.

#67, I made an account purely for the purpose of telling you that you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! I dunno what #68 and #70 are talking about, he showed that he CARES for OP's well-being and wants to leave NO DOUBT as to where he stands on her drug addiction issue. He should've probably let her get a word in but really, "I was jabbed by the nurse, honest!" is a bit too boy who cried wolf to be believed right away. Stop bitching OP and be grateful you have positive influences in your life that have nothing but your best interest in mind.
