Today, I am currently grounded for three weeks, have no car, cell phone, or television privileges, and am not allowed to spend more than 10 minutes on the computer a day. The reason why: I was seven minutes past my 9'oclock curfew. I'm 18. FML

wow to all of you saying op's parents are harsh.. I'd say not really! I've gotten way worse when I was around that age! now that I am 22 living my own life, seeing from their perspective i'm glad they did it. seriously if I ever become a parent I'd give out curfew as well. not as strict as my parents did for me, but I would. i will let my kids live and make their choices, but society these days glamourize everything, sex, drugs, alcohol!

Loser. I'17 and my mom lets me stay out until about 2 AM with my older brother. Also, YDI for breaking their rules, so stop crying about it.

or just be on time next time, jackass.

Alright, so you are 18 years old, and you got grounded... It's time to suck it up and join the adults in the real world. You go home, turn your TV on, take your cell phone and do whatever you want on the computer. Then when you go out on the town, don't come home until you damn well feel like it. You are a legal adult, and you're parents are ******* retards for trying to pull that. If they don't like it then move out, that is if you've got a job. In which case if you don't you should get one so your parents can't take your shit away, because you will be paying for it.

wow, ur parents r harsh. try to find away to sneak out

ok, ur parents need to loosen the hell up, only person that can make them do it is you, i mean, if you use ur computer, and go out and stuff, what r they gonna do? ground you some more? just tell them to go **** themselves like every other teenager in the world. conservative parents who make an 18 year old go to sleep at 9 are just plain crazy

I've been in your shoes, OP. My curfew was 10pm, but there was hell to pay if I was even 1 minute late getting in. You have a few options - You could move out of the house, though I recommend you have a good paying job, an auto insurance policy of your own, your own cell phone plan, etc. It's going to be expensive, ridiculously so. But that's what it takes to move out on your own. I pay over a thousand dollars every month for all my expenses - Can you do that? You could remain at your parents house and start saving up every cent you get from work. That'll take a little while. And you still won't be financially secure when you finally move out. Or you could find friends to stay with at an apartment, and that'll cut down on some of the expense for you, but you'll still need a good job and all the policies and plans mentioned above. Still expensive. Basically, it's a much better deal staying at home. Be a good kid and stay there until you can deal with the responsibilities of being an adult!
