Today, I was on the bus when a really cute guy came on. The only seat left was the one next to me, so I smiled and waited for him to sit down. He looked at the seat, looked at me, and opted to stand until his stop. FML

It's funny how people see smiling as being creepy. If I had to sit down next to a complete stranger, I'd rather have them smile at me then ignore me... Seriously, since when has smiling at someone become 'creepy'?

Yes. A complete stranger smiling right at you isn't creepy at all... Trust me, it is creepy. He doesn't have to ignore her, he can always chat. But just don't smile right at someone you don't know. It is creepy.

I guess I'm just too friendly. I smile at strangers all the time and have made many friends by striking up conversations with strangers. I'd hate to be awkwardly ignored like OP was.
