Totally correct! It's in your head and you know it!! You're just another sorry for himself attention seeker. Next time decline and say you don't eat between meals. Showing weakness at a job interview is daft
I ask for his degree in medicine and then when he says he's not a doctor say then shut your ******* mouth and don't force a ******* sandwich that'll make me sick on me
I have a problem with gluten products, so I don't blame you for leaving, OP. What an idiot.
Gluten-free eating IS a fad, but your condition is real. There is no benefit to eating gluten-free unless you're allergic. Since the fad is so popular, it's hard for people to believe that a gluten allergy is a real thing.
* Gluten intolerance, not allergy *
There is an allergy. Or, you know, maybe my aunt is lying about her gluten allergy, right?
You can have WHEAT allergy, not gluten. You can have gluten INTOLERANCE. Your aunt might just not be very precise with terms.
Yea, coeliac is NEITHER an allergy nor intolerance, it's an autoimmune disease, as you said. I simply replied to the "gluten allergy" statement - I never said that coeliac disease is an intolerance or allergy...
The autoimmune response you refer to is what causes allergies. Both terms are correct.
I've had celiac disease since I was 2, and while I LOVE that there are many new gluten free items (there was absolutely nothing when I was diagnosed), I don't like the new fad. Those who do it for non-allergy reasons, or even those with an intolerance, hurt celiac people by cheating and eating gluten anyways. It makes other people think we can all do that, where one small crum can make me so sick to where I throw up blood and can barely function for 4-6 months. I just wish there was a little more general knowledge on the reasons why we go gluten free instead of assuming everyone is the same. Oh well! The abundance of GF items is worth the occasional confusion:)
You did the right thing. Guy sound like a psychopath. Working for him will lose you your sanity.
Isn't it spelled "celiac"? I'd have pulled pictures up of dead intestines killed by gluten. I had to with my dad for him to get it.
Both spellings are correct. Celiac is mainly North American. Why don't you try google or Wikipedia first.
Why didn't you just say, "No, thanks"?
" I politely said declined", translation "No Thanks"
Yeah, but you don't have to add a back story to your preference not to have a sandwich.
They probably didn't until the boss insisted, forced the sandwich on her and asked why she wouldn't take it.
I am coeliac too and I have mixed feelings about the gluten-free fad. I hate that because it's considered some sort of detox diet that everyone assumes truly intolerance doesn't exist, but at the same time is caused loads of restaurants and supermarkets to increase the amount of gluten-free products they offer, so I can't complain about that; especially when I can now eat at my favourite places again.

What a douche! I hate people like that! Better luck next time OP.
While I do tend to think gluten free eating is a bit of a fad it takes a special kind of stupid to think a coeliac is following a trend. FYL OP, there's more jobs out there!
