YDI for being fat and ugly.
(+2)seriously?! where the fuck did OP say what they look like?!
Read his name! It includes "troll". But OP, that sucks. You should've bitched at the trainer for not telling you earlier.

(0)swearing is a sin. asshole.
(0)lol 35
(+2)That was very unprofessional of them.
(+2)agreed - send them a bill for your time
(0)Agreed and agreed.
(+1)Yeah, they should compensate you for wasting your day, when you could have been out applying for a job where people are actually organized!
(+1)Oh, that's just messed up on such a high level! Especially with how difficult jobs are to get these days!
(0)sue the bastards
(0)EIGHTH! I thik i spelled it right... sux for OP
(+1)Isn't there some way you can force them to compensate you for your time? There should be, because that's just fucked. Don't you usually check up on that stuff right away?
(0)The OP never said he wasn't getting paid for the shift.

(+1)If he wasn't actually hired, why would they pay him? You're not very smart.
(+1)Why should the OP have to check it...I mean they sent her an actual e-mail telling her she was hired. What more do you need?
(0)No, why wouldn't the trainer check it, is what I meant.
(0)It wasn't a shift, it was an orientation, so he wouldn't have gotten paid.
(0)I've always been paid for my time at orientations- you are working- it's training!
If the OP has their message saying they were hired then they need to show it- regardless they should be paid for their time.
(+2)I don't think it's worth it working for a company that can hardly handle hiring employees. What a bunch of unprofessional idiots.
(0)I think you can sue them and claim expenses and damages (Biz law class from the states 10 yrs ago.... but worth checking out). Keep the message.
(0)What Would Milton Waddams Do?
(0)Ask for his stapler?
(0)Send them a nice invoice for your hourly rate, double what they would have paid you. Make sure you put an explanation of services offered. If they refuse to pay it, you will win in small claims. No company should get away with that.
thats b.s. they have to pay you for training. get some money.

(+1)That sucks, I would definantly fight them to get paid for your time. Save the e-mail they sent you and use that. If they screwed up they should pay for it. On the whole, it's probably better they didn't hire you. I mean, you would you really want to work for a company that is this disorganized. At least this was 1 days worth of work, if they hired you, you could have lost weeks of time.
(0)EDIT: Sorry I misread the OP. Instead of:
"Save the e-mail they sent you and use that."
It should say "Save the message they sent you and use that."
(+1)I would definately hold onto the message you received (print it out!) and call the corporate office. Explain what happened, and ask to be compensated for your time and the inconvenience.
(0)That's awkward... and hilarious.
(0)DAMN, they better pay you back for wasting your 8 hours. Why would they train you for a position that you weren't going to be used for? That makes no sense at all.
(0)Wait... did you they clearly state "Hey you're HIRED" or did they just say you should come to the store to talk...and you assumed you were hired? Idk, every time I applied for a job (and got it), the manager would wait to talk to me in person/on the phone.
But, if they did indeed hire you, demand to get paid for those 8hrs.
(+1)If they sent you an email that says you were hired you need to print that out and hold onto it. They do have to compensate you for your time as it was their fault that your time was wasted, and all orientations and training has to be paid for because the company is asking for your time unless (in some cases) stated other wise. Take them to small claims court and/or before taking them to court ask to talk to the big guns and let them know how poorly things are run. But the biggest thing is to hang onto that email.
(0)Stupid trainers. Bitch to get yoo money
(0)You should be compensated. It's not your fault that they don't have their business together.
