YDI for having crappy instincts. And if you're having trouble finding your car, hit the lock button instead.
Oh, wow. How'd you figure that out? Was he running out of your car when you got there?

He probably sent it in the performance review. I mean, how else would you do it?
Yikes thats not good. How did you know he was robbing your car?

Don't unlock your car until you can see it!!! That is common sense 101 my friend.
Lmfao.
Because of the incredibly rare chance that someone was going to steal it? Wtf man. That's just ridiculous. No one I know does that.
Uh, hello. It's common sense. Why the fuck would you unlock it from across the parking lot? It doesn't make a difference. It's just going to be unlocked for a longer period of time.
Thank you for helping our fellow criminals do their jobs much more easily. You are indeed great help to the criminal law enforcement workers. We need more citizens like you.
Well, your fault :)

HAHAHAHAHAHA WHAT A DOUCHE
You should've unlocked your car when you were close by. EH?
How's that feel? :]
Nah, sounds complicated... but YDI because other people steal. Because the world is cruel. (jk)
q: Your life sucks.
Wonder what he took..
That sucks a whole lot. I unlock my car before I've reached it, too... but I would like to think I would notice someone breaking into it.
You never unlock your car with a button, it gives so many opportunities for theft! The first thing I did when I got my new car was pull the safety out to make sure it doesn't work.
Fail. Unlock your car when you're right next to it.
Haha, I was JUST thinking about this exact situation yesterday! No lie. Although, I was looking at it from a 'stealing the car' perspective and it doesn't work so well, but I hadn't even considered just stealing someone's stuff! Oh goodness, FYL.
Every time I press the unlock button for my car, I think of this type of situation. "What if some creepy asshole has time to hide in the back?" is what I worry about most, especially after one of my mini-cop drama marathons, lol. That's why I just hit the lock button instead, since I feel the need to press SOMETHING.
Hey #23 the OP didn't say that his car had keyless entry. He could have had a car starter which yes, you can unlock your doors from quite a ways. I should know, I used to have one.
#33 no smart ass, my car did not get stolen when I turned it on. My idiot bf washed the starter part so I can't use it anymore
Why in the hell would you unlock your car from across the parking lot? YDI for being a moron.
Everyone needs to fucking relax.
There are hundreds of cars in a parking lot mall (unless you live in the middle of nowhere) so just the fact that on that particular day at that precise time you happen to be walking out while some asshole has chosen YOUR car, out of ALL the others, to break into... that is like a once in a lifetime thing. So it's absolutely not his fault if he normally unlocks his car by habit, because well yes, it may be stupid in the long run, but like, 99% of the time it's completely harmless. It just happened to fuck him over ONCE.
This is a true FML.
It may not be likely, but it still isn't smart to have one's car be unlocked in a place like a mall parking lot when one isn't right nearby or can see the car. Even if it is "harmless" most of the time, making the same stupid decision over and over is bound to catch up to the person eventually. Better not to do it in the first place.
kinda like speeding or drinking right? Everyone thinks that he/she has self control and won't get hurt. It's better if each person decides not to drive or drink, correct?
ydi, lol. press just go to the general area where you parked your car and press the freaking lock button, that's what i do.
This is why I hate those remote things. What's the point of unlocking the car from far away? What difference does it make? I remember being frustrated that my new remote wouldn't unlock unless I was five feet away. I then learned it was a security feature. It makes no difference whether you unlock it 30 feet away.
YDI, you hit the lock button to find your car..not unlock.
that's why you do it when you're near it not from a ways away! DUH!
YOU DESERVE IT!!!!! What kind of idiot unlocks their car from FAR AWAY instead of being close/next to it?! HAHAHHAHAHAH dumbass
ydi for hitting unlock from so far away you didn't notice the guy. try the panic button next time
LOL YDI for not noticing that shit right away
Look at the bright side, if this applies: At least the fucker didn't have to cause damage to get in. You're saved the cost of repairs, and he would gotten in anyway and stolen whatever he took.
I'm going to say this is fake. Most Key Rings have a range of 25 feet.
Yeah right, as if he gonna break into the car when the owner's returning. Unless the mall parking lot is really deserted AND he see that you're a weakling who won't give a fight.
That guy is a total Masshole for breaking into your car.
And you couldn't just press the alarm button on your keys?
...But on the other hand, that is a terrifying situation, and you might've been too scared to do anything.
FAAAAKE
Any thief would have booked it at that point.
Hahahahaha
This FML reminds me of a youtube video where this
idiot is trying to act all cool, jumping on his car while it's in motion
and some dude walking by just gets in and drives off.
you deserve it!

That's cuz you're an idiot. You don't unlock your car until you're at it, what if it was a killer instead of a robber? Consider yourself dead.
lol that sux. i wonder what mall this was at.
Good thing my mother's car is older and I have to turn the key in the door.
Good thing my father's car is stupid and I have to basically be right on top of it in order for the button to work.
lol mine's like that too. I have to be right next to it for it to work. Except, for some reason, when I'm at home. My daughter's been able to unlock it or make the horn alarm go off from in our apartment. We don't let her play with the keys anymore.
IDIOT. you are really dumb. haven't you heard enough about not opening your car until you are right next to it? hope you learned your lesson.
GG. Hope you learned though.
