Today, I was walking around Walmart feeling pretty good about myself as I received numerous looks from guys in passing. All of a sudden a man approached me to tell me that my dress was extremely see-through. And, since I was wearing a thong, he and everyone else could totally see my ass. FML

If it wasn't intentional, for keeping your see-through slut-dress in with your daily wear and clearly not paying attention to what you're putting on
If it was intentional, then for diving in headfirst without stopping to test the waters. Yes, that's a pool/swimming analogy.

Rules of outfits:
Make sure they're not see through, and if they are get a slip
Make sure that if you need to run like hell, that the girls don't bail out of the dress from the action.
Because EVERYONE owns bright powerful fluorescent lighting in their homes... its not uncommon for the change of lighting to have a completely different effect on clothing.
Its still a YDI though because someone should know whether or not their clothing is thin. She obviously bought it somewhere with bright lighting (Wal-Mart probably) and then forgot about how it looks? I just lawl at the OP

I don't think the OP deserves it, or was trying to dress like a whore. If that's the look she was going for she wouldn't have posted it on FML. She could very well have looked in a mirror before she left the house. but sometimes the light in your house doesn't reveal the same things as sunshine or the fluorescent lights of a store. Many celebrities have made this mistake, when the flashes of cameras reveal more underneath than was actually intended. FYL indeed, OP.

I have a couple of skirts and dresses that are see through when the sunlight is really bright, so I just put on shorts underneath...and the only reason I know they're see through? Because my mother or husband told me about it. Looking in the mirror you sometimes can totally not tell

That stinks. There is no "Wal-Mart" setting on any of my inhouse lights, so i'll go outside and try to see if I can see any underwear lines before I leave the house. Even then you never know. A lot of women's clothing has a gauzy nature about it, so it's easy to get messed up on that. Don't listen to this "you shouldn't feel good about yourself" spew. I once saw a woman in her 30s wearing one of those things, a sundress made out of some really thin material that was easy to see through. She was wearing a bikini underneath it though and a straw hat, so she was probably just headed to the beach.
I remember it more because this woman was freaking GORGEOUS. Turning my head to look once just wasn't enough. Whatever she did to form her body, she earned the right to wear that clothing.

There are many fabrics that are see through in a certain lighting and not in others. This is probably what happened to the OP.
Whenever I'm dressing with an outfit I haven't tested before, I make sure to take a look under different lights before I set foot out of home, because with the thin summer dresses and shirts, that happens a lot, so I don't want to take the risk to go out being see-through.
You'd be amazed at the difference that electric light or sunlight can make.
So all the guys with vulgar comments calling the OP names can go back to their caves and stop saying idiocies when they don't know what they're talking about.

It's not that people don't have sympathy. It's that when people make stupid decisions, they act like what they did couldn't be helped. I wouldn't get joy from someone being embarrassed, but I find it to be just a little ridiculous that they wouldn't take some kind of action to prevent something like this. Also, it's not that she is slutty (because a lot of people just assume that), it's that she has the appearance of being slutty (no offense). Appearances mean a lot when seeing or meeting someone because people tend to immediately judge your character based on that before even getting to know you. For instance, people might think that I'm a fat, lazy slob because I'm overweight. It's not true but I may have the appearance especially when I don't have the time to groom in the morning or before going to work. She could be the sweetest and most modest girl in the world, but that means nothing to someone who just sees her and doesn't want to get to know her.

I saw a girl exactly like this at my work. It's quite typical of girls. They make a scene of themselves and then get offended when someone stares. Now I know you wanted them to notice your looks rather than your thong, but it doesn't take much common sense to check how it looks before you go out. It may only show up in sunlight or fluorescent lights. the lady said it was a mistake, I don't see why everyone is so ready to call 'whore'! honestly!
