Aww, that's just insensitive =/

Valentine's is bullshit. just go out and have a drink with your buddies man, enjoy the time with your boys.
If people need a day to tell their girl how much they love her... they aren't doin it right. You do that 365 days a year. if anything... you should have a "day off "from it
Takes balls to read that to the class.
#3 - On 02/14/2009 at 2:48am by Truth
Post the poem. There might have been some cues in the language that made it sound sarcastic or something. Also, I'm just curious.
#4 - On 02/14/2009 at 2:52am by Nick
A little trauma builds character... No worries mate, just have a few drinks at your local pub then rail the first fatty that walks by... V-day blows anyway....
#6 - On 02/14/2009 at 3:42am by Starscream
that blows. but maybe it sounded emo. pay no mind to them anyways
#7 - On 02/14/2009 at 4:06am by president benson
You deserved that so bad... I'm guessing you're in the 5th grade. I'm not surprised that everyone laughed.

How can you be in class writing valentines poems when valentines is on a saturday this year?
#9 - On 02/14/2009 at 8:07am by Sharks
Sharks, some people have school on Saturdays
#10 - On 02/14/2009 at 8:12am by Frans (FML Staff)
Sharks - it was probably Thursday or Friday.
That, and people probably laughed because your poem sounded sarcastic in some way.
#11 - On 02/14/2009 at 8:36am by JFP
i agree with #3, it does take balls.
#12 - On 02/14/2009 at 9:46am by emmazing_x
I blame the mtv generation. I mean now adays you don't know if someone is serious or not. So when someone is sincere about his/her feelings, the immediate reaction is that the person is joking and you should just laugh.
However, I think it took a lot of guts to share your feelings. The point is, perhaps you're looking for the wrong girls or maybe you're just talking to them wrong. Don't just blurt out your feelings, you gotta keep them in you and release them at the right time.
The best revenge? Fake your suicide this weekend.... THEN they'll "get it". (FAKE it, I said... just FAKE it! )
#14 - On 02/14/2009 at 11:17am by Paul F.
I really think you deserved that one. Reading that kind of stuff to your whole class may be gutsy but it's also stupid. They obviously thought you were joking, because no one reads that kind of thing to their whole class!
#15 - On 02/14/2009 at 11:37am by SUP
It's generally a bad idea to write emo poetry and then read it out loud in class.
#16 - On 02/14/2009 at 12:03pm by Capybara
What were you even thinking? That they would feel sorry for you, or that one of the girls would see how brave you be were, be deeply touched and fling her arms around you in front of everyone. I've not seen this movie!
That happens when you try to be an emo writter.
Be more positive the next time :)
It took guts, but there was probably language that made it sound like a parody of sad love poetry. Keep the poem; don't lose it, just recast it in the humorous vein.
I keep wondering; why is it whenever someone here is hurt there are these pricks who tell them 'haha, you're a wuss'? We're all hurt by somewhat differing things, for different reasons. It's dumb to deride people for being human.

So, you wrote what was most likely a trite and messy poem moaning about how you suck at women, and it didn't go over well with the peers. Here's a tip, laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone. Nobody wants to hear how you got rejected and how lonely you are. It's certainly not going to make the girls warm up to you. I hope you're not quiet and mopey all the time, because man, I can tell you you'll be lonely for a LONG time if you keep up that act.
#21 - On 02/14/2009 at 5:00pm by Avry
I do know a guy that this tactic worked for. However, the girl was a complete sucker (I can say that, because it was me) and she (me) ended up hating him because he was so freaking depressing. Pull it together man! Even if one of the girls you like had felt moved by that poem, it sounds like she would have been pretty turned off by your negativity really quickly. Fake it till you make it: be positive, and smile and act like you're happy and before you know it, you will be. People respond to that. I promise!

#23 - On 02/14/2009 at 7:12pm by mawiya
That's why you don't write up some emo shit and share it with the class.
"Here's my poem: NO ONE LOVES ME BAWWWW."
No wonder everyone laughs.
#24 - On 02/14/2009 at 9:02pm by Drk
dude...this is why you don't read stuff like that to the class.
#25 - On 02/15/2009 at 1:21am by mimi
This is why you aren't supposed to be honest about your feelings.
Although I really can't imagine what in the fuck a 'Valentine's Day poem' would be. Just make some shit up next time.
#26 - On 02/15/2009 at 4:02am by anon
I wouldn't have laughed.
I'm proud of you for having the guts to read that to the class.
#27 - On 02/15/2009 at 5:11am by me
Well where's the poem? I want to laugh too.
He never specified whether he was the one who read it to the class. Maybe the teacher read some anonymously or something.
#29 - On 02/15/2009 at 5:37pm by Default
go cry in the corner, emo kid. unlike motel 6 I'll even turn the lights out for you.
being a downer will never truly get you the girl. no girl wants to use your tears as lube.
cheer up, and if you're still lonely next year, remember that there are always plenty of drunk, loose, desperate girls at singles bars on V-Day...
Is it just me or are a bunch of these people assholes? Reducing what really does hurt to 'Aw, no one loves me' is as at least as stupid and flat as globalizing one's problems. Guess what? It does hurt. That is real. That's not emo bullshit. Emo has become a tag people put on people when they don't want to feel guilty about not sympathizing. Ignore these jag-offs.
#31 - On 02/17/2009 at 3:49pm by AJ
's what you get for whining then, isn't it?
#32 - On 02/17/2009 at 9:02pm by macgregor42
whining does no good. If you actually want advice or help, ask your friends, family, counselors....whatever. People don't mind that. But there is no benefit whatsover to whining. It doesnt get anything done and it doesnt do anything but make the people around you annoyed and not care to help you when you ask.
hey, you have guts to do that!! i'm sorry everyone laughed, but honestly they probably had no idea what to think of a poem so raw with emotion... which is very sad.. i don't know why people can't just let someone express themselves without laughing at them because it's "too intense" for them to handle :(
cheer up emo kid =D
#35 - On 02/18/2009 at 6:24pm by i\'m with casanova
34.....there is a difference between "intense" and whining. unless.....do you think that wearing eyeshadow, all black, and calling yourself a "tortured artist" is "unique and special."
Sad poems about love (or poems about love) can be really hilarious if you don't know how to wield your words correctly. Compare:
I gave her my heart in the month of June,
but she returned it all too soon.
The style is too lighthearted for the subject matter. On the other hand:
She was my sun and moon,
on a starless night she left me.
Notice how I intentionally avoid lyrical qualities. If you don't know what you're doing, it's best to avoid fixed meter and simple rhyming schemes for sad or heavy poems, because people tend to take it as a sign of a poem being jolly unless there are very good indicators otherwise.
(Yes, I know the second example sucks too. So sue me. I can't write good love poems.)
#37 - On 02/19/2009 at 9:13pm by noamsml
I had the same thing happen to me. If you can't laugh at yourself, life is going to be very long.
(my poem was a haiku. I asked a girl out/she said we'd be good as friends/ I am autistic)
i feel your pain, except ive actually been asked out by a few girls that i didnt like
ya'll need to shutup caz I feel this kid's pain.
but mann it's called life and you just have to deal with it.
you got some balls to read that to your class, but don't make it a pity party.
I know from experience.
DUDE FKK THEM THEY JUST DONT HAVE A HARD TIME LOOKING LIKE ASSHOLES SO TO TRY YO COVER THAT THEY DONT GET ANY BITCHES THEY LAUGH AT U AND INSIDE THEY REALLY FEEL THE SAME WAY
#41 - On 02/25/2009 at 10:56pm by ITS ME MIKEY
I have been there i feel our pain
#42 - On 02/27/2009 at 11:55pm by Ben
how about get over it? everyone's lonely. you're not special. stop being emo it's unattractive.
#43 - On 02/28/2009 at 9:59am by cass
For all these people saying "stop being insensitive, let him be human, we all hurt!" yes! we all DO hurt! which is why nobody wants to hear some random kid whine about the shit that they're all thinking about as if he's so tragic. go talk to your friends, don't bitch to the whole class with emo poetry. it's insulting, pathetic, and it makes you look like a douchebag attention whore.
#44 - On 02/28/2009 at 10:10am by ohboy
to all those who bitch and moan....try getting hit by a bus. seriously. if you survive that you can bitch and moan all you want.
#41...THIS IS MY ANGRY VOICE! seriously dude? are you five? its called caps lock and its just annoying, grow some testes, give them to emo kid....and then go back to your grade school wearing a dress. youll be amazing at how much bitching your allowed to do when your balls have been excised.
That's harsh. The teacher at the very least should be encouraging and stop the others.
You know, a lot of stand up comedians make bank off things like this. Consider it!
Also, if you are still single next year, don't think of it as Valentines Day. Think of it as Singles Awareness Day. We've got to stick together.
Pro tip: People hate emos, suck it up princess.
Agree with #50. Play sports, it builds character.
#37 those poems were sooo beautiful!!!!
well stop being such an emo of course ppl are going to laugh if you whine like a girl in public
Was it "Bring your problems to class" day? No?
C'mon, dude, chalk it up as a win that you got a laugh.
way to have guts to read that to ur class, u have my respect
i once wrote this cheesy love poem about meeting a girl in dream, but everyone, even my english and chem teacher, LOVED it. at least 6 messages in my yearbook later that year were written about it. it was that popular.
ur teacher is ridiculously insensitive and so r ur classmates. u'd probably find something similar on my facebook notes
I feel bad for u ... so slap the teacher before u graduate
i remember the valentine's day poem i wrote in 8th grade for extra credit. it became the talk of the school cuz ppl thought it was so awesome. i wrote about a love dream that never came true and how it ended b4 the kiss at the end of a school dance. try writing ur poems with an innocent side rather than an emo side.
u should have said, "its because im black isnt it?". its funnier when ur white
I feel your pain. it DOES hurt to be alone and rejected :(
soo sorry man
cheer up, still got the rest of life to look forward to
I'm sorry :( I know what it's like to be alone on valentines day. don't worry I'm sure you'll find your match :)
