Today, I was was leaving the library when I noticed an elderly woman being mugged. I was about to leave on my bike, but promptly went to help her. After I managed to scare off the mugger, I helped her to her car. As I was heading back to my bike, I notice the mugger riding off on it. FML

So without having solid proof on me, I'm pretty sure it was done by the same guy who has a webcomic called Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. This FML was done in his same style. If you check it out, you'll understand this one better, or maybe not, you might not get his comic either, what with the luck you guys have been having with the FML. We've all seen My Name Is Earl, so we know Karma's gonna make that mugger crash off the bike and grind his face through ten feet of rough gravel.
When I got my motorbike back after it was stolen, the back was all smashed up where it'd clearly been used for a wheelie and had gone right the way over. I like to think that the thief injured himself. Hehe.
Incidentally, the bike thief is currently serving a five year stretch. Woo!
Ugh hate when Karma doesn't come into play. Hopefully you will be thanked for your deed in the future in some form.

If you're coming at him from the side, a quick forceful kick to the side of the knee will immobilize him and put him in excruciating pain (not to mention make you look like a total badass). It doesn't take a strong person, just good aim. Then, see how well he does in prison with a wheelchair.

If you've already got the bike unlocked, use it to help against the mugger. Ride it over, carry it over to use like a weapon, or use it to block the bastard.
Either way, you don't leave a loose bike with a thief about. While it does suck, you did kinda-sorta bring it upon yourself.

Actually it does, barely. It's just not funny. The man helps an old woman from being mugged and the mugger takes the man's bike. The man shortly after dies and goes to hell without reading the note from his wife, which the mugger hands him because he happened to pick it up. For whatever reason, his wife, in the note, plans to treat him to a threesome if he chooses a different religion.
The actual FML got completely lost in the story that the artist made. Good artwork, bad plot.
It might be okay if it was the artist making up an FML, which is essentially what he/she did, but since it's an illustration of one that was already posted he really should have stuck with that storyline.

FML illustrations aren't the place for this kind of creativity. This is stupid. So is the one where a girl's vomit turns into a monster and tries to eat someone. It's dumb. If the FML is good enough to be worth illustrating, illustrate it. Don't try to make shit up.
It's not our goal AT ALL. If the autor just repeat the text, it's useless. This one is exactly what we expect for illustrations : creativity.
You aren't really clear on what you expect from the illustrators, and with this illustration, I don't think the problem is that people try to be creative, I think the problem is that the illustration actually contains 2 FMLs...
...plus the failed joke with "Fuck my (after) life" I don't think many people find it funny.

I like the illustration but it would have been better if it cut off after he was hit by the meteor. And the mugger didn't really look like a mugger. It took me a while to figure out who he was. But A plus for thinking outside the box.

Just a personal opinion, but I feel like the last few illustrations have totally missed any subtle humor and just done their best to squeeze out every last potential ounce of funny the FML has... to the point of making it something completely different.
I like the style that the VDM illustrees generally follow better. They're creative in the way they -enhance- the FML by adding details and interpreting the stories. But they don't try to extend the FML and make it something it's not.... it should be funny in the first place anyway. (Example, http://www.viedemerde.fr/amour/499993)

I thought the comic was fantastic, but I've been reading SMBC for awhile. It's kind of their "thing" to go over the top, so it was expected before I even started reading it.
