that really sucks just try to find out the names of the songs then you can find the artists easy
Ah, kids.
I would be really pissed.
well with iTunes, you can select multiple songs and edit them all at once.
why? he's a kid
its actually kinda cute
he's showing his smart side
:]
This is cute if a small animal does it, not a nine year old boy.
How was no one watching him for that long that he could change the names of 400 songs

YDI for letting a nine year-old mess with your computer unsupervised.
Yeah. I have some by him too!
This is why you should always password lock your computer.
Pretty sure that would take like 4 hours.
Command + A, command + I, blah blah song title, blah blah artist, hit enter, and done.
Wtf, a 9 year old should know better than that. Kick his head in.
How cute :) but how wrong :/

9 year olds are brilliant these days.
At least it was only iTunes and he didn't get onto the internet and see things he shouldn't have. I'm all for not being a helicopter parent (uncle/aunt) but on the computer, a 9-year-old really needs supervision.
Too many negative votes, comment buried. Show the comment.
This was so fake. A 9 year old wouldn't know how to change the names of songs and that on there. And if he did, he'd be smart enough to know what to do and be able to put full words.
Or he was just being a jackass and did it on purpose.
#75 - On 06/22/2009 at 8:31pm by null
At 9, I was smart enough to change song names. Kids are really quick with computers.
Yes, children are raised around technology. Besides, working iTunes is not rocket science, I'm sure my 5-year-old nephew could do it.
When I was 9, I was my family's tech support. And I was up until I moved out.
Renaming songs on iTunes is not hard at all though. And doesn't it have the ability to look up song names online? All you need to do is set the album names back to normal (if your library is mostly albums rather than random songs) and it'll find the rest.
Are you kidding?
I am 17 now, but when I was 6 I made my own email by myself with an email provider my parents didn't use
When I was 7 I programmed and soldered and microchip that was a motion and voice activated "cricket".
By the time I was 9 I could install my own software, surf the internet, go on MSN and many other things.
I bet my six year old nephews are computer savvy enough to change the names on iTunes because I know for a fact that my 8 year old niece can as she puts Jonas Brothers songs on her father's iPod.
If you want the song names back, just listen to them and google the lyrics. Song title should come right up. But still, I would HATE this to happen to me, FYL :D
well that should be fun re naming them all P;
Woohoo! You get to go through tons of old music! I bet it'll be oodles of fun!
That would actually be kinda adorable if the kid was younger. But 9...well, 9 year olds are usually more mature than that.
I remember I wanted a sex life when I was 8, so I'm pretty sure a 9 year old wouldn't type rubbish randomly.
lol at "nine year oldsters"
XDDD
Vista Ultimate or business? You can easily undo that with restore prevois version.
now you and your friends get to play Guess That Song! jk
that really sucks
#37 - On 06/22/2009 at 6:02pm by WFMS
On the bright side, you now have 401 mystery songs!
aaahaha, this is one of the funniest FMLs I've ever read.
Awwwh, that's so cute. xD
Wow, I laughed hard at this!
lol
but he is 9 years old...he should know how to type.
Ugh, that sucks! FYL. That reminds me of when I got a new computer, so I put my entire iTunes library from my old computer onto CDs to transfer it, and they all came up as "Track 1," "Track 2," etc.
But since the songs with the titles and everything should be on your iPod, when you plug it in, you might be able to transfer that info back into iTunes. Good luck!
#43 - On 06/22/2009 at 6:17pm by fobfan14
... And you haven't password protected your computer because... ?? You totally did this to yourself. Revenge on a nine year old should be sweet though. Mess with his mind. Make him realise you shouldn't bring a knife to a nuclear war.
get an iMac and use spaces, can't beat it...
its very easy to fix:
1. Delete your entire library (but make sure you dont delete the files.
2. Reload your library:
File > Add Folder to library...
Select the "My Music folder" or where ever you keep your music files.
3. itunes will find the titles online and bingo, all your music is back to how it was.
#47 - On 06/22/2009 at 6:24pm by Seti
get the shazam app on someone elses ipod and use it for all the songs
I feel sorry for you.
Go with renaming it
#51 is right. just do it like that and it will be fine
5 years old or younger, I can fully understand, but at 9 years old, the kid should know better than that!
aww. but the mp3 file isn't altered so that's okay.
and heyy you're from singapore! :)
most singaporean kids aren't like that..
Oh you say that now #63 But wait til you hear the song "jsdtj65q1"! That song is the bomb diggity!1 :)
i was gonna make this joke...
darn too late!
:]
But jdik5m is alright, if you're into the style. Sure, it's not like the old stuff, but it's pretty good considering.
ugh i made the joke first ):
but theyre only showing later comments boohoo.
i find that "hdjks" is better than all of those!
#122, is that on their self-titled album, or the new one, "gfekldfkl"? I wanted to buy it, but I couldn't find the one in English.
Oh, wait, none of their songs are in English... Dammit...
Smart nephew you got there... haha
Have fun renaming them!
#63 - On 06/22/2009 at 7:05pm by xdeathscene
iTunes can fetch all the correct info for those songs, along with the album art. It's an iTunes feature that's quite popular. http://apple.com/iTunes
tht sux, but if you put it on ur ipod your not TOTALLY SCREWED, but remember NOT to sync your ipod until you change the song name and artist
good luck =)
what? my 9 year old sister can type perfectly well. probably better than my grandma. she types on the computer every day at a good speed and uses itunes all the time. I have a hard time believing this kid didnt know how to type. Nonetheless, FYL.
yeah if you don't know the name by heart google the lyrics and then the song name will come up. that sucks though 'cause it's gonna take a lot of time :/ your nephew is very immature for a 9 year old, you should teach him a lesson.
#15 - On 06/22/2009 at 5:07pm by meeeep
Perhaps he wasn't trying to type actual words. He could of just had bad intentions...
#76 - On 06/22/2009 at 8:32pm by Warped_Mind
my ( spoiled) 9 year old brother uses iTunes all the time to manage his 8GB iPod touch
LMAO!!! after my day at work today that cracked me up! FYL....sorry to say but thank you for the laugh!
Easy fix here. Select all your music, then right-click (I'm on a PC, if you have a Mac do whatever you usually do to get the sub menu) then click "Get CD Track Names". If you have album artwork, it should be easy to identify them, too.
Voila! Fixed! Then go and password-protect your computer. :)
That sucks! Probably faster to delete it all and just put the CDs back on, granted you got it off CD. That's still over an hour of work you're looking at though.
#73 - On 06/22/2009 at 8:05pm by lesp
Or get a Zune which automatically syncs any song you get with information from a song database they have. :)
lmao!! haha u can just listen to all the songs might take a while but ya know
if you have an apple download the free program called ieatbrainz it will name all your songs bands and albums
Or MusicBrainz Picard for Windows or Linux :)
Undo?
I never let anyone touch my computer/iPhone for just those reasons.
YLIF
YLIF?
#81 - On 06/22/2009 at 8:44pm by Bud
Your life is f***ed.
Anyway, that's hilarious. If that happened to me I'd start laughing my head off.
Ahhh ok
#87 - On 06/22/2009 at 9:02pm by Bud
OUCH. I feel for you man. thats why my comp is in my room, which is always locked when im not in it.
How would you get in your own room?
...a key? or maybe the computer is locked. adurrr.
#102 - On 06/22/2009 at 10:08pm by hi_derrrr
Wow. that is officially the stupidest question I've read all day. Congrats.
Well he said "When i'm not IN it" and i dont think he can go into his computer so im guessing room and i have a key so yea
just go to each song's info, and if the file name is the same as the song, just copy it.
Midget, at 7 I was navigating DOS so a 9 year old can easily figure out iTunes.
Where the heck do the comments keep disappearing off to?
OP, FYL. But 401 songs isn't a lot. Most of my friends, including me, have over 700 songs on their itunes. And at least you got onto FML for this! (:
#89 - On 06/22/2009 at 9:03pm by _Mish
#89 700 songs isn't a lot either... so maybe you shouldn't really be taking that holier than thou stance. Not to mention that the OP didn't say that he/she only had 401 songs, just that that is the number of songs the kid changed.
700? Really? Most people I know, including myself, have upwards of 5,000. I know someone with 12,000. My ex boyfriend had 40,000, but that is fucking extreme.
So did your ex boyfriend pay at least $0.99 each for 40,000 songs? Rich motherfucker. You gotta be rich too if you paid $5000 for music. Marry me?
#97 it's called a file sharing program, such as limewire..
*sorry if there's some mistakes, english isn't my first language :)
but anyway that sucks.
it's going to take forever to put the right titles back !
#109 - On 06/22/2009 at 10:56pm by laurie1094
yeah man i have 196000 songs, most are terrible though
She wasn't bragging about it... just saying it could've been worse. And no one really gives a crap how many songs you have.
I GOT 46K SONGS, btw, for whoever sed u payed a dollar for each, as if you havent heard of limewire...
limewire's a terrible program to use, full of viruses. I use ares.
Erm... ever heard of a login password?
#92 - On 06/22/2009 at 9:23pm by thelonelylurker
your nephew must really hate you
At nine years old he should know what he is doing or he is just that presently stupid to know about something so simple like iTunes
No offence
At least he didn't max out
Your card with Hanna Montana songs!
15 I have and it is absolutly amazing
I've only got 12 songs for myself on Itunes.
hahha that made me laugh xD
i winced when i read this! What a mess!
That sucks, but I did laugh a little. Sorry bout that!
Ouch! but kinda cute...on this end anyway
what a little dipshit, kick his ass, he's 9 he knows what he did.
#108 - On 06/22/2009 at 10:44pm by Ra
fake. he needs a password
don't need a password to change the song info on your library, but maybe you should.
btw 1100 songs and god knows how many videos...all downloaded legally muahahahahaha
It's funny that out of all the iTunes nerds that commented on this, only one knows about the "Get CD track names" option. The rest of you are a disgrace.
either he hates you or hes developmentally retarded.
FYL.
that sucks.
this is why my little sister is aloud no where near my computer.
Grab a copy of MusicBrainz Picard. It can automatically retag all your music by 'listening' to it.
He was only translating it! He probably thought you spoke better gfshskn5e4bk?dsi-ish than English.
ydi for not having a password set.
I agree with #23
and # 34 that's twisted
Get "Easy CD-DA Extractor" has a converter program that can rename everything to whatever - and convert to mp3 etc.
Hahahhahahahahah lmao num 1!
wow that really sucks..... too bad you can't do "edit > undo" 401 times!
time for some good old child beating
I'm sorry. Trust me, I should know; 9 year olde can do a lot more than you think.
& I've vowed not to ever have up to a thousand songs, personally because it's too much, and I most likely won't listen to them all. Plus, it takes up space, though my videos take up twice the amount of GB than my music.
Anyways, have fun sorting:)
#127 - On 06/23/2009 at 12:58am by Funtertaining11
He's nine and that's what he typed?
bahahaha At 9 years old, he knows how iTunes works. Someone was angry!! lol
You'd think a 9-year-old would be a little smarter than that.
Wow I hope u didn't have pay for it haha
...Why would he have to pay for it?
he shouldn't be on the computer using your things in the first place...
Aww. My phone has 50 or similarly named contacts thanks to my 4 year old. Makes finding anyone's number a real paid, but reduces the chance that when she's trying to call someone after stealing it that it connects to a number that's going to cost me.
That sucks massive ass yet it's fucking hillarios, put on limewire I wanna download it.
That's really quite hilarious, but it truly does suck for you :P All you need to do is sit at your computer for hours and listen to the songs and change the info. At least you don't have 1,900 songs like I do :D
Moral of the story (i.e., the moral of the story for about 1/5 of the FMLs on here): don't let kids near your technology. Idiot. YDI for sure!
Sometimes there's just no keeping them away O_o
46000 songs ere 0.0 illegal :P
hold on at 9 you know exactly what you are doing; he was just being a dick
Ffjiel is my favourite ambient music guru.
You deserve it for using iTunes.
#149 - On 06/23/2009 at 4:45am by Krittick
This is why you export databases. Check the folder itunes might have done it automatically the last time you updated. All you have to do us rename the old one.
Kids are fucking imbeciles.
YDI for having iTunes. It sucks ass
lol
#157 - On 06/23/2009 at 9:40am by jt_272
and i thought singapore kids were clever.
haha, just listen and rename them!
go through the songs!
that would be fun enough. :)
i think i would choose both YLIF, and YDI, cause it sucks having stupid names as songs,
and also, YDI cause you dont have a password or smth...
I still am unsure this is real even though I hate people who call always fake.
I believe(and hope) the 9 yr old kid can figure out iTunes. What i'm not sure i believe is that the 9 yr old had the attention span to change all 401 songs titles to jibberish. Wouldn't he have to go into each individual one and change it?
Just sayin.... it seems unlikely to me that he changed all the songs.
You could highlight all (cmd/ctrl + A) then hit info (cmd/ctrl + I) then you could change each one.
Apparently someone thinks that the 9 year old downloaded 401 songs titled "azxcvbs3f" on iTunes for 99 cents each. As to why he thinks there are actually songs named that on iTunes for purchase, well that is beyond me.
No big deal -- just restore your backup. It's a starting point at least.
Dude, you can always change it back. Just double click the "aidjf3p" or whatever, and re-name it. I THINK that works.. either that or you just waisted 400$ my friend. And really.. how stupid can you be to have a computer unlocked on an iTunes account with a 9 year old in the house??? REALLY?
HAS NOBODY ON THE INTERNET HEARD OF A PASSWORD?
@15 idk why but I cracked up when I read that. And that is true.
Well, at least we know what this guy will be spending the next three days doing.
HAHAHA :)
Kids these days...
i would shoot him with my ak47
how do you do that lol
i dont even know how
with itunes you can edit info for multiple items at once, so renaming 400 songs to gjkshj would take a matter of seconds.
#184 - On 06/25/2009 at 12:25am by willzone1
Unfortunately iTunes doesn't let you undo a file name change for some reason. The kid probably selected all the songs and edited them all that way, no way the kid sat there renaming every single song.
That would stink if it happened to me. Not finding the song names, but just renaming all of my 877 songs! Luckily, though, I'm stingy about keeping my tags correct - finding or even knowing right off the bat what the song names are would be easy due to having all the correct information put into the song. Unless the kid changed the track number, album, composer, year, genre...
Go to your iPod, then your playlist and then get on iTunes and go to the same playlist and the songs should be in the same order, so change the ones on itunes back to the ones on your iPod.
I had to do this one time cause I accidently deleted my sisters playlist of 1000 songs.
Did he use downloaded mp3s for free?
you can tell hes gonna be the brightest crayon in the crayola box. :D
Even if you can't undo it, I'm sure you can identify a good share of it by listening to it.
In the future you may wanna consider burning back up disks
yea your life must be pretty hard if the worst thing going on for you is that your nephew changed the names to your itunes. wow f---ing cry.
Really? At nine? Is he special? I have three nine year old nephews right now, and one 8 year old. They all know how to read, spell and some even have their own iTunes.
So this is either fake, the 9 year old is way behind, or the 9 year old was pissed at the poster.
have u watched ffjiel's new video? its amazing! :D
lmao #1. xD
FYL. have fun writing all the songs/bands all over again... :-/
i know how it feels...but 401 songs is nothing...my friend, becouse he thought it would be funny, changed my 1639 songs into "Duck" as title and "Bob Sagget" as artist....
I LOVE FFJIEL!!!! did any of you hear ghty3ww? That song is KILLER!
#196 - On 06/30/2009 at 9:57pm by bigbubba127
Oh, I just thought of a good way to Fix this.
It'll work if you have an iPhone or know someone who has one.
Download "Shazam" and use that.
Ahahahaha thats hilarious XD fkdjfkf haha
well ur lucky he didn't delet some of it..
I love those songs! there one hit wonders aren't they?
wow #161 your super cool.
did the OP really count all 401 songs?
#202 - On 08/08/2009 at 6:37pm by tbbays04
You didn't password-protect your account?! I swear, idiots these days...
if your iPod has all those songs on it and you are using windows not mac i can tell you how to get your music off your iPod onto your computer so you will have every song on your iPod, back onto your iTunes with the correct names...
You don't need to enter the password to change song names 206. Jeez, jackasses and morons these days...
that is ridiculous. my sister is 9 and can very accurately type, write and read. Unless your nephew is severely underdeveloped, that story is false.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe the 9-year-old typed that because he was screwing around, not because he couldn't type?
Lol that's what happened to me before I signed up to this website but instead it was "zsjfjgjfhg" by "jdhfdjfg"
#206 is a major prick lol :P
Maybe he did that cuz he would know that you would get mad and post it on a website like this
