Today, I put my 3 year old down for her regular nap. About an hour later I wake up from a dream where I was smelling something awful. When I woke up, the smell was still there, so I tracked it down. My daughter had decided to "fingerpaint" with the contents of a dirty diaper. FML

Everyone else, Children do strange things. It has nothing to do with the parenting of the child. And most children are still in diapers or training diapers at age three.

There goes the next Jackson Pollack. You shouldn't suppress your child's artistic urged like that.

#69 - On 06/03/2009 at 8:00am by yomama6

Hahahaha! These comments are full of fail!

It is not uncommon for three-year-olds to still be in diapers. You people obviously have no kids of your own. My daughter turns three soon and she is just now learning to use the potty (and still wears diapers). I have known *several* kids who weren't fully potty trained to the point where they could be trusted w/o diapers until they were four. Then there are some kids who figure it out at just over two. Not every kid develops at the same pace, or in the same ways. The OP's kid might have been an early walker.

And #21: You're an idiot who OBVIOUSLY doesn't have kids. They wear you out. I mean they WEAR YOU OUT. When the kid naps, you nap, because when the kid is awake, you're awake. At two in the morning. And three in the morning. And four in the morning. So stfu and give the OP a break.

#70 - On 06/03/2009 at 8:03am by thuryn

Still in diapers at age 3??????? Sounds like lazy parenting to me. My child was potty trained at 18 months.

#80 - On 06/03/2009 at 8:25am by SOMsLadyLove

SOMsLadyLove: You are lucky. Most kids are not potty trained by two. And it has nothing to do with "lazy parenting". You just have a really smart kid.

Kids potty train themselves when they are ready. You can provide encouragement (or DIScouragement), but you can't MAKE it happen.

Okay, children do disgusting things, everyone knows that. She's gonna do worse things than that, I guarantee it. Yeah it sucks to clean it up, but she really should be potty-trained by now. Either way, stop complaining about her online and go buy some fingerpaints.

#89 - On 06/03/2009 at 8:38am by lyndsaygirl

apparently, when i was about 18 months old, i used to poo paint every morning for about a month.when i woke up, i would scoop up my poop and completely cover my cot. every morning my mum would have to take my cot outside and hose it. then in a book it said that poo-painters are either mentally handicapped, or extremely intelligent and taking the piss. i still havent figured out which i am!

I still don't get why people think that every kid who is three years old is automatically "too old to be in diapers." Obviously, you haven't met many kids if you think it's that simple.

Of course, most people who comment on here HAVE no kids, so...

#98 - On 06/03/2009 at 8:47am by thuryn

That bad part has to be cleaning it up...

#99 - On 06/03/2009 at 8:50am by jdman619

Not all 3 year olds are potty trained. They often don't have a huge amount of control so even if they are trained it makes sense to still put nappies (I'm English) on them. Especially if it is time for them to nap.

#100 - On 06/03/2009 at 8:52am by DecemberC

oh come on, I have a three year old daughter and she'd never think of a stupid thing like that. Nail polish all the way to the elbow, yes, but this? And a three year old kid is DEFINITELY too old to be in diapers.

#101 - On 06/03/2009 at 8:54am by clarksdale

Awwww! Hope you can clean that up, and, that it doesn't stain!

#104 - On 06/03/2009 at 9:12am by JARED725

I'm cracking up over all the people who are saying, "Oh no--kids definitely aren't smart enough at age 3 to figure out the toilet! They have to wait till they're *ready*, even if it takes till they're in college!"

Good lord, people. When I was a kid, I didn't know ANY kids who weren't trained by 3 unless they were retarded. Any kid still running around in diapers at 3 or 4 would have been made fun of big time. Parents just can't be bothered to put the effort into it. When your kid's still not ready to get a job and leave home by age 40, you'll realize you've been a bit lax.

#105 - On 06/03/2009 at 9:18am by aback

Ugh people, not every kid is perfectly potty trained at 3. And sometimes they are during the day, but not when they're sleeping. My 3yr old son is in undies all day, but I put him into a pull-up during his nap and during the night because he doesn't get up by himself to go potty. Potty training during sleep is the hardest part. Also, some kids are fine with peeing but refuse to go potty. All kids are different.

@21 : The OP put her down for a nap. What was she supposed to do? Sit in the corner of her room and watch her sleep? Is the OP supposed to watch her sleep at night, too?

#107 - On 06/03/2009 at 9:21am by blouuu

#121 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:33am by AshleyRose784

and welcome to parenthood....

#122 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:33am by Trav1sP

Ha! I'm still amused at the "diapers at 3?!?!?!!??!111" comments. What a bunch of idiots. Not every kid is the same. My two year old knows all the letters and numbers in three languages, but she's still in diapers. She just doesn't give a damn about using the potty. She'll get to it.

Parents do not potty train children. If you think they do, you're a moron. Kids potty train themselves when it finally dawns on them how things are supposed to work. You can encourage them and try to help them get the idea, but until the notion really gels, you're just beating your head against the wall.

Three or four years old is a typical age for a kid to become potty trained. Before that and you're lucky. After four is uncommon, but not unheard of. Some kids are just stubborn asses. One lady I work with couldn't get her kid out of diapers until he was 4 and a half. One day, he just decided - and told her! - that he wasn't going to wear diapers any more, and he didn't. He KNEW what to do all along. He just couldn't be bothered to use the toilet.

So get over your know-it-all selves. Kids grow up in a staggering variety of ways. The FML here is that cleaning up a poopy mess from a kid who is eating solid foods is GROSS.

(Babies who are still nursing don't make stinky poops; BOTTLE-fed babies make HORRIBLE, gag-inducing, vile poops that would stop a dump truck.)

#123 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:35am by thuryn

shouldnt your kid be pottytrained at 3?

#124 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:40am by shameless09

Apparently, this site needs a "I want to bitch/brag about the horrible things my children do at the right stage of development." 3 is when many kids are being potty trained, and they're old enough to take off their own clothes. YDI for not realizing that you're a parent and this is not a FML, this is just LIFE.

Want this to be an FML? Change the kid's age to *13* and it's an FML. Or make it your boyfriend's FML.

#125 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:55am by screwloose

#129 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:34am by I_Am_The_Edge

To people commenting about a 3-year-old in diapers:
It's not that uncommon. Some kids develop at different levels. I babysit for a family whose youngest is 3 and he wears diapers only when he's asleep, even though he's been potty trained for almost a year.

But I would think that by 3 most kids would know not to play with their poo...that part is much more disturbing. FYL anyway.

#130 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:40am by hannahxbanana

thats gross a similar thing happened to me with my 1 year old son yesterday. we were outside playing and the dog started licking my sons diaper. turns out the poo was leaking out and the dog was eating it. and to those who say a 3 year old should not be in diapers. my neice is 3 and its not uncommon for 3 yr olds to not be potty trained yet. some are just harder to potty train than others.

#131 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:47am by morgan020

That's big time fucking nasty u should have stayed awake!!!!!!!!

#132 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:49am by jj007

I was potty trained by a little after turning 1. What sane 3 year old would fingerpaint with feces? If there is something mentally wrong with this child they should be watched quite hawk-like. This belongs in failblog, you fail at parenting. I stamp you mothalicka.

Have you considered potty training? Or are you not willing to allow the baby to grow up?

#136 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:57am by BigSky

Wow.........a lot of you either don't have kids and/or need to do your research. My niece is a little over 3 and she still has to wear pull ups. Like many have said, being potty trained is a milestone that the child ultimately has to reach on their own. You can encourage them all you want, but you can't MAKE them use the potty, and if you try, you are only going to discourage them.

All of you also need to stop assuming that the OP has not even tried to potty train her daughter yet.

Also as someone else pointed out, the FML is the fact that the OP had to clean the poop up.

#137 - On 06/03/2009 at 12:00pm by patray_angel

LOL! Little kids are actually not disgusted by bodily waste. It's common for them to play with it or be fascinated by it.

#138 - On 06/03/2009 at 12:02pm by briana83

As an FYI for all the smartasses on here...she is potty trained, but can't hold it while she's asleep and doesn't wake up to use the potty on her own, so she wears pull-ups to nap or go to bed at night. I have older children, so am not clueless as to what will happen. The FML part was the lovely cleanup I had to do for almost an hour. As to napping, with an active 3 year old, when the hell else am I supposed to get some rest?? I have a baby monitor in her room, but when she wants to be quiet, she moves in stealth mode! Oh, the joys of parenthood!! So really...find the humor in it as I did and get off your soapboxes. Let me know when YOU win parent of the year and have the right to criticize someone else's parenting skills!

#139 - On 06/03/2009 at 12:03pm by cgregg01

#146 - On 06/03/2009 at 12:46pm by gatorchomp15tebo

Actually, I dont think you have to be parents of the year to know that three is very late to teach your child bladder control. Or to post on here, for that matter. If that were the case, POY would be a prerequisite for a lot of things... like being a teacher or social worker. And I'm pretty sure they would all agree that a three year old in diapers is a problem. Look at it this way: maybe it's not your parenting, maybe she has a problem. You tell me, Parent of the Year (LOL).

I reiterate that you deserved it because your 3 year old is still in diapers.

If that's the case you can rest assured he/she won't even be a tiny bit successful in his life. Way to raise a future criminal.

your three year old still wears diapers? :(

#160 - On 06/03/2009 at 1:28pm by megelin

Your 3 year old is still in diapers LOL ever heard of potty training?

#161 - On 06/03/2009 at 1:32pm by IMAfairey

I decided to ask around my office. The consensus is this:

Three years old is NOT too old to be wearing diapers, especially if it's only to nap. I heard everything from 1.5 to 4.5 years from the folks in my office.

Another interesting observation was that it's harder to train the first child, because after that, the younger siblings imitate the older ones . So they "get it" a little easier.

I totally sympathize, cgregg, especially on the point about needing a nap. More than once, I've curled up on the couch and napped while my two-year-old watched Bugs Bunny snuggled up next to me. After a hard day's work, I got to rest, and she enjoyed both the cartoons and some "Daddy time", especially since I was refreshed when I woke up and we could go play outside. (When she got bored of the cartoons, she would jump down, which would wake me up. Worked pretty well.)

#135 / Misanthropist: You are aptly named. Go away and be glad your parents had kids. Just because you don't have the guts to do it doesn't make us idiots. I love my daughters and they love me. But you'll never know about that. Go back to your lonesome life.

#162 - On 06/03/2009 at 1:34pm by thuryn

I'd seriously like to hear back from some of the people who said "OMG THREE YEARS IS TOO OLD!" How many kids do you have? C'mon, now. I'm curious.

Or are you all just ignorant blowhards?

I'm betting on "blowhards." This is the Internet, after all.

#163 - On 06/03/2009 at 1:37pm by thuryn

All my kids (4) were potty trained by 2 years old. YDI, she's probably still Carrying a Baba around sucking on it. You DON'T Lay down for a fucking nap with a 3 yo that you aren't monitoring, which if you had to "Track Down" her and the smell you weren't. You're a great mother...NOT.

#173 - On 06/03/2009 at 2:39pm by thuryn

What is wrong with everyone acting like 3and beyond is ok for diapers! What the hell has happened to our society? Those of you who are defending LATE potty training are deluding yourselves. What do you think they do in 3rd world countries that can't afford $3 a piece plastic diapers? Shit all over themselves and paint the house with it for 3+ years??? NO!

It is a test of wills at that point. This FML is a strong testament to early E.C. (Elimination Communication). By using diapers for so long, you are instilling in your child that a diaper is a toilet. Then you are trying to convince him otherwise after 3 long years of him "knowing" where the toilet is (strapped to his ass). THREE YEARS IS WAY TOO LONG to expect to then convince him of otherwise!

#174 - On 06/03/2009 at 2:56pm by gutteda

She is wearing a diaper at age 3 and still wants to 'play' in her poop? That doublely sucks.

You think that's bad? Try have triplets do that... Now that was gross

#181 - On 06/03/2009 at 3:18pm by Musicguy827

I can't believe that some people think all children develop along the exact same timeline. Some of them might even have kids, I'm guessing most don't. I don't have kids, but it doesn't take a fucking genius to figure it out. EACH KID IS DIFFERENT. Congrats if your kid was potty trained at 18 months. It's not a fucking race. And whoopdeedoo if the kid isn't potty trained at 3. No, that does not mean it's retarded. Someone said that earlier. Fuck. I can't believe the IQ of most people.

And to people commenting on the parenting skills of the OP, they must not have kids either. Like 134 - there's a difference between "unconditional love" and not letting a child out of your sight. The latter is pretty much impossible. God forbid the OP SLEEPS, you know, because the OP might be TIRED from LOOKING AFTER her kid. Fuck people are stupid.

#184 - On 06/03/2009 at 3:25pm by ansongtao

Haha...you can't put a kid in preschool til they are potty trained. You should consider that too. It doesn't matter that you have other children that are older. You still have a 3 year old running about with no supervision. You are lucky she only make poop-art while you were asleep and didn't imbibe cleanser instead!

#185 - On 06/03/2009 at 3:32pm by ohJeeznotme

FYL for having to clean it up but YDI for having a 3 year old in diapers. Just like my cousin and his wife- they are terrible parents, their 3 year old daughter is both in diapers AND still eating baby food. Your daughter will be eligible for pre-school next year and #184 is right, they won't take her. I know it's sometimes hard but seriously get on that, there is NO reason a 3 year old isn't potty trained. As soon as your child can talk well enough and understand when you say "this is the potty" they can be potty trained.

#186 - On 06/03/2009 at 3:39pm by CatieBabey

I just read the first 8 words and I am deeply disturbed that you euthanised your three year old kid!

#187 - On 06/03/2009 at 3:39pm by SayNo2Quack

edit to above: I just read the OP's 2nd post about how her daughter only wears diapers while sleeping, so my apologies for my mean comments about parenting. But she wants to play with her smelly shit? Gross.

Nice spelling #82. Dumbass

#194 - On 06/03/2009 at 4:05pm by Socafolife

Maybe her daughter doesn't have to wear diapers all the time, but she wears them to bed so she doesn't soil the blankets? or pull-ups maybe?

I remember my little sister doing the same thing when she was a baby.

#195 - On 06/03/2009 at 4:11pm by inerdablanket

Ashley_Kretz: You're an idiot. Read the other comments, especially the second comment by the OP.

CatieBabey: I salute you for actually reading through the comments and amending your own post (as much as you can once it's set). Awfully stand-up thing to do.

#196 - On 06/03/2009 at 4:15pm by thuryn

I think a lot of people have made good points on both parts, but in my own personal opinion, I believe that children should be potty trained before the age of three. And if you have old children as you say, then it should have been easier for your child to learn. And I find something contradicting in your story. You said you had to track down the smelly diaper to find it's surprise. And then you whip back by saying that you were monitoring it. If you had the baby monitor on, you would've known it was up to something...unless it was an old diaper that was stored...but regardless, this is f-ing stupid. PAY BETTER ATTENTION TO YOUR DAMN KID.

#197 - On 06/03/2009 at 4:19pm by Ashley_Kretz

well you know what thuryn? I didn't go through these because I read the fml and was like what in the hell is this person doing? So I felt no need, so how about you just back off jackass

#198 - On 06/03/2009 at 4:20pm by Ashley_Kretz

Ashley_Kretz: You're still an idiot. A baby monitor is a one-way radio so you can listen in. Usually, a young kid will make a decent amount of noise when she wakes up. But it's not a freakin' Dolby Surround Sound transmitter complete with video surveillance. It wouldn't be hard for a kid to crawl out of bed and start rooting around in the dirty diapers - probably the one she was wearing - and start smearing it WITHOUT making enough noise to rouse parents.

My kid is two and she engages in all sorts of stealth mischief all the time. You can't see everything and be everywhere all the time. You just have to accept the fact that toddlers are messy. Sooner or later, there will be mess. Oh yes, there will be mess. And you will have to clean it up.

When you have kids, you'll see for yourself. Until then, stfu.

And don't try to justify your laziness by telling us you are so smart you don't need to read anything. That just makes you lazy, arrogant, AND stupid.

#199 - On 06/03/2009 at 4:25pm by thuryn

I'm not lazy, I just didn't want to read all of the people fighting like you are doing here now, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so how about you just bug out...and too bad for you, if you have a baby monitor going, you'd be able to hear a child taking their diaper off....it's not the quietest thing in the world...and too bad for you as well that I have a three year old myself, and he's great. Yeah, he gets into things, but when it's nap and/or bedtime, he can sleep the whole night without waking up to go to the bathroom, it takes a lot of tough love to train your kids to go to the bathroom. And even though he is my first kid, he caught on to potty training like he was born to do it...so how about you just stay the fuck out of it? THANKS

#200 - On 06/03/2009 at 4:33pm by Ashley_Kretz

#206 - On 06/03/2009 at 5:04pm by NoMercy

As the OP, I find all of this absolutely hilarious!! To address a few questions/comments: the pull-up was the one she was wearing when she was put to bed - she doesn't wear them any other time. I was monitoring her over the one-way baby monitor we have with the volume on full blast, but the pull-up slides up and down, no noise or anything, so that is how she was able to do her stealth-painting. As for being able to get into other things, we keep all of our chemicals in an upper cabinet, no worries there. Plus, if she'd have actually come out of her room without me hearing her, my dog would have ratted her out in a heartbeat! For the pissy commenters, good for you that you are so better at everything than everyone else, your mother must be proud of how nasty and judgemental she's raised you to be. As for those other parents that understand, thank you for being able to find the humor in this disgusting situation with me. If she was doing this daily, I'd be concerned, but since this has so far been a one time thing, I think boredom and wanting the soiled pull-up off her is what caused her to be so...umm...creative. And btw, she drew dinosaurs, her current fascination. And yes, I did a great job cleaning it up after I finished gagging and smearing vicks vaporub all around my nostrils.

As far as the comments about this being fake due to the inability to smell during your sleep, you should check out this link: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/09/080921162021.htm

Your senses still work while you're sleeping. Your nose doesn't just turn off.

#238 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:12pm by Rivlas

thuryn You need to just shut your fat mouth and leave everyone the fuck alone. Who do you think you are, God? You have no say over who is and isn't entitled to their own opinion. So talk all the shit you want, it doesn't matter, you're just making yourself look like a little two year old, maybe you need to change your diaper, asshole.

#239 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:18pm by Ashley_Kretz

I work at a preschool/daycare at a local college campus. Our requirements are that the kids are two years old and potty trained before they can attend. I work specifically in the two-three year old class. Each semester we have about 15 to 20 kids that can meet these requirements with no problem, including no nap-time accidents. We do not allow diapers, pullups, pacifiers, sippy cups, or bottles. There is no reason aside from mental disability or autism that makes it okay for a three year old to be in diapers-even if it is only at nap time. YDI.

#240 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:19pm by passiveSunshine

Ashley: Who do you think YOU are that you are "entitled" to anything on the Internet? This isn't your site. If you want to be stupid and don't want to hear about it, go get on the short bus and take a ride. If you come here, expect people to call you out on your bullshit.

Passivesunshine: You are a fucking moron. All your class proves is that some kids are more advanced than others. It doesn't mean the three year olds in diapers are retarded. Go read a book.

#241 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:23pm by thuryn

why the fuck is a 3 year old still wearing a diaper?

#242 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:33pm by hannahrp03

What did she fingerpaint? Your face? FYL

#243 - On 06/03/2009 at 10:50pm by

Thuryn- How does a classroom full of kids within a a certain age range prove they are advanced? We turn children away due to class size limits even though they meet requirements. This number of children being potty trained proves that this is an age that is perfectly NORMAL for children to be FULLY potty trained before three years old.

I would also like to note that I have my degree in Education (which allows me to be employed in this position in a college operated Preschool) in which I maintained a 3.92 GPA which I would take a guess that it means my intelligence level falls a littler higher than a moron.

I will expand on my previous comment- children in diapers at three can usually be the result of a few things 1) mental retardation, 2) autism, 3)medical issues, and 4) inadequate parenting.

Final Note- all three of my children were trained well before their third birthday.

Don't take naps when you should be watching ur kid

#246 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:06pm by toastywafers

Thuryn, you just need to get a damn life....and yes, everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. Everyone has their own voice and it's our first Amendment right to voice whatever we so choose. And I bet that you never had the chance to go to college, nor took any parenting classes, and it sounds as if you should. I might be young, but let me tell you, by the age of 16 I had a kid, but I ended up getting my bachelors degree in Medical Technology and an associates degree in Childhood development before my 19th birthday. Maybe you should take some classes in shut the fuck up.

And as for you passivesunshine, I do believe that this Thuryn character is the moron who's just trying to justify their own retarded ways as well as their children..

So thurty, for the last time, FUCK OFF

#247 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:09pm by Ashley_Kretz

Did you lick it off the walls like a cat

#248 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:13pm by MosDefinite09

OH MY GOODNESS, I did that when I was little too!!!!

Wait 'til your daughter is 20. It'll be a great story to embarrass her with. My parents love it :)

Aaaand I don't really see why people are saying this is a bad parenting move. Kids get into everything. Even their own diapers. And most 3-year-olds, while potty trained, need a diaper for nap time/bed time. A three-year-old can't feed herself properly or draw a straight line. Why would she be perfect at the toilet?

#249 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:18pm by lilymaiden

Sorry if this is a really common question on this thread, but why is she STILL in diapers when she's 3?

#250 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:22pm by cheesycue

Um, 3 yr olds shouldn't still be in diapers. And that's disgusting.

#251 - On 06/03/2009 at 11:59pm by coffeennicotine

Oh, and #71, 81, whatever other numbers you posted... you know, the person who thinks they're the only one in the world who ever met a child... yea, you. You're a dumbass. And either the kid is fucking stupid or the Mom is damn lazy to have a child in diapers at that age. I was potty trained before I was 2, and I was also a fast walker, fast to talk, etc. Every child I've ever met, and I have met a lot, has been potty trained well before the age of 3. So that is a problem. So quit acting like a know-it-all, because you're just as stupid as your kid who still shits its pants.

#252 - On 06/04/2009 at 12:08am by coffeennicotine

Yes, "coffeennicotine". I'm sure you're a great example of how we should do things. Uh huh. Sure.

Passive: Because you PICKED the kids who are already trained. That doesn't say anything about the size of the group who aren't.

Ashley: You can have your opinion all you want, but don't expect us to just swallow it because you "have your opinion." You shared it. It's stupid. Deal with it. Your spouting about First Amendment Rights just shows what an idiot you are. The First Amendemnt only applies to the U.S. government. It doesn't mean you can spout whatever crap you want, wherever you want, ESPECIALLY on the Internet, and no one can say "boo" to you.

With all that training, you'd think someone would have taught you some Civics.

And you and passive can go sleep together with your judgemental bullshit about "kids @ 3 in diapers are mentally retarded" CRAP. I don't care how many books you've read. Western training has earned us one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world, thinks bottle feeding, plastic diapers, pacifiers, solids at 6 months, and elective C sections are all just the Bestest Evar, despite all evidence to the contrary.

So forgive me if I'm not impressed by your educations, since you've been trained by a system that serves corporations. Fuck off. I'm sure the OP's kid is not headed for Special Ed just because she still wears a diaper FOR NAPS.

#253 - On 06/04/2009 at 12:28am by thuryn

My mom told me stories about how my siblings and I used to do that.
Except we were all younger than three. :[]
Shouldn't you toddler be potty-trained?
Maybe you meant pull-ups?

Well thuryn, I could give a rat's ass less about what you say..and the First Amendment gives us our FREEDOM OF SPEECH you fucking imbecile, so you need to just get over yourself. You're probably one of the shittiest parents ever known to mankind. So how about you just take your bullshit excuse of trying to justify yourself and shove it up your ass, it would make everyone so much happier, thanks and have a great day, dick

#256 - On 06/04/2009 at 1:31am by Ashley_Kretz

It's called Art. Deal with it. Encourage it.

#257 - On 06/04/2009 at 1:32am by RaycerX

Thuryn, are you related to the OP or something? If not, you've got a serious hero complex.

The first thing I thought when I read this was, "Why is a 3 year old still in diapers?" I agree with everyone else, especially since the OP stated that he has older children. She should be potty trained already.

#263 - On 06/04/2009 at 5:27am by princessjess420

Ashley: You're a fucking idiot. The First Amendment only guarantees that the GOVERNMENT of the USA won't interfere with your freedom of speech (or of the press). It makes NO OTHER GUARANTEES. Go read it an you'll learn something. That's why it's perfectly legal for someone to kick you off an Internet site, fire you, call you names, or whatever, based on what you say. None of those people are the government.

The Bill of Rights ONLY applies to the government, and it ONLY applies to the US GOVERNMENT. Once again, Civics fail. I thought you were educated. Guess not so well, eh?

You're part of the problem, Ashley. You have no control of your temper, you pay no attention to science or the news, and think you're "entitled" to all kinds of shit that you aren't. DIAF.

As for you, star_ver, it has been well-established that the only people who think three years is too old for PULL-UPS are goose-stepping parent-nazis who have some sort of magic timetable for how All Kids Must Develop that real kids haven't read and don't care about. Few of the kids I know of were fully potty trained by three, and none of them have behavioral problems.

Don't like it? Raise your own kids. It's not hurting them to wear a fucking diaper. Get over yourselves.

#264 - On 06/04/2009 at 7:20am by thuryn

What the FUCK?????? Seriolsy a 3 year old who isnt potty trained???? What the FUCK? Do you just like seeing her vagina and ass?? Your fucking falt for not potty training your 3 year old. Mine was trained at 2 and a half.

If your a guy like me then either you rape your child or you are just to fucking lazy to train your child and thats pretty fucking lazy. Cause you have to clean up her piss AND shit and thays nasty.

If your a girl the what the fuck. You wont listen to a guy or potty train your shitty kid

Once again WHAT THE FUCK. Train the kid

#265 - On 06/04/2009 at 10:21am by spade

Lol. My oldest sister did that to my Dad when she was a year old. I remember it quite clearly (I was 8 at the time). My youngest also did it when he was a year old - only it was his older brother's poop out of the training potty. Yuck.

#266 - On 06/04/2009 at 10:33am by FreedomFirst

Thuryn, you've got so many fucking problems, when someone does that, you can file a civil suit for slander and anything else you so desire. You need some serious fucking help man. You are the one who has a short temper and you need to cool off. Everyone DOES HAVE THE RIGHT to voice their opinion about whatever he/she ever so chooses. So please, get over yourself because you are the one making yourself look like a damn fool....fuck off god damnit

#267 - On 06/04/2009 at 11:55am by Ashley_Kretz

Why is she not potty trained yet? And how have you not taught her that smearing poop is a no-no? That's just bad parenting.

#268 - On 06/04/2009 at 12:32pm by SwampThing

Wow. What's up with that guy? That's just weird and gross....

#269 - On 06/04/2009 at 12:34pm by SwampThing

Your 3 year old didn't know what poo was? Perhaps you should be raising her more.

#270 - On 06/04/2009 at 1:01pm by TR_Wolf

I don't want to ever hear another goddamn bitch complaining about how taking care of little kids is sooo hard. NO SHIT. Then don't have kids, or STFU. Btw, you're kids a genius. I hope you're proud.

#271 - On 06/04/2009 at 1:49pm by koalakittens

Ashley: Sorry, but no. Slander only applies in cases where you accuse someone of doing something illegal, AND your accusation is unfounded. NOT TO MENTION the fact that slander is a case where the First Amendment DOES NOT allow you to say whatever you want, whenever you want.

So thanks for proving yourself wrong. Idiot.

And if you think you can voice your opinion whenever and wherever you want, you're going to end up getting the crap beat out of you one of these days.

One more time, for the obviously mentally impaired: THE FIRST AMENDMENT ONLY PROTECTS YOU FROM THE U.S. GOVERNMENT AND NO ONE ELSE. Don't believe me? Go READ IT.

#272 - On 06/04/2009 at 2:14pm by thuryn

You deserved that for putting a three year old in diapers. She should have painted your face.

#273 - On 06/04/2009 at 2:47pm by Macha

Y is your life fucked because of a stupid thing your daughter did

#274 - On 06/04/2009 at 3:53pm by fucku6

Thuryn- We do not "PICK" the children. If they meet requirements and we have spaces available they are accepted. We do not sift through those who apply and decide who we want to attend. We have several children that are dually enrolled in the local Children Development Center-many of which have various degrees of various developmental issues- who are ALL potty trained by three. We also have the sense to understand that those in my age group are prone to accidents and handle those rare instances accordingly.

Actually our poor medical system, care, and inflated costs along with the high number of young mothers, often living in poverty levels of income, who do not have access to proper prenatal care and education pertaining to childbirth and rearing contribute a great deal to the our high levels of infant mortality. It has nothing to do with "western" training. It is poor education and poor health systems. It is health care being determined by the amount of expendable money available to an individual, not based on who actually needs it-when they need it. It is our fault as citizens for allowing this type of systematic control over basic human needs for such a long time that it becomes commonplace.

Also, I breastfed all three of my children until they were a year old, never once did they use a bottle, I am actually one of the few these days who elect to use cloth diapers, and never ever gave my children pacifiers or food I did not prepare myself. For some people those things work, for me they were not an option.

#275 - On 06/04/2009 at 5:30pm by passiveSunshine

Thuryn, you must not know shit about the legal system, maybe you need to take a look into it. You'd see how big of an IDIOT you are making yourself look like. You're just mad because you are a horrible parent yourself and you're just trying to justify yourself in your own pathetic little mind, so get over it. And I'm sorry hun, but you'd be the one to get the shit beat out of you. Because you sound like on arrogant asshole who is in dire need of it. So for the FINAL fucking time, shut the fuck up you stupid cunt. I will say what I want, when I fucking please. Fuck you, you stupid fucking moron, get a life, I'm sorry that you spend all of your damn time on fmylife with nothing else better to do. Go fuck yourself and have a great day, prick.

#276 - On 06/04/2009 at 8:39pm by Ashley_Kretz

As a matter of fact, I am a parent who had my daughter potty trained at around 2 but she still had problems wetting the bed while she was sleeping. She didn't get over this until she was almost 4, it wasn't a regular thing but I still kept her in nighttime diapers (or pull-ups) until she didn't have an accident anymore. The post clearly said that her daughter was taking a nap and so they decided to take a nap themselves, this could possibly be one of those moments. I don't understand what's wrong with this and what does this have anything to do with bad parenting?! Some of you are acting like "holier than thou" dicks and if you try to say that you NEVER took a nap when your child was sleeping than you're liars or suffer from OCD. Sometimes those are the only times that you can catch up on rest is when they're sleeping! Some of you are looking waaay too deep into this and need to calm down because I really doubt that your children are perfect themselves and if you expect them to be soo perfect than there's something wrong with them and I would hate to be your child!

As for breastfeeding...good for fucking you Ashley! I was robbed of my ability to breastfeed because of the medication I was taking after I had my daughter so I didn't have that convenience, maybe you should think of certain circumstances that we all have before you go judging others! We all aren't as lucky as you, your fuckin highness! There's nothing wrong with all of the above, I drank formula milk, I wore disposable diapers, I even ate McDonald's when I was little (gasp!) but yet I'm going to Med School. You can't be such an idealist, you can't expect things, and especially children, to be so perfect and in order for things to actually work otherwise you're in for a big disappointment my dear!

#277 - On 06/04/2009 at 8:45pm by missanica

You still didn't answer my question though, Thuryn. I really don't care when children should be potty trained and that comment was directed more toward the OP than anyone.

Who appointed you hero of the internet that you feel you have to debate people on an FML comment thread and tell people they should die in a fire and belittle them for expressing an opinion? Seriously, get a life. I feel embarrassed FOR you, you're making such an ass of yourself.

#278 - On 06/04/2009 at 9:31pm by star_ver

I USE TO DO THIS TOO. hahah tooooo funny. i was alot younger then three cause i definitely wasnt in diapers at three but my moms friends always tried to cheer her up by saying it was a sign of a good artist. ironic thing is... i couldnt be worse at art. LMAO

#69, You and all these kids u know that are 3 and still in diapers are retards. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND ALL OF THEM WERE TOTALY POTTY TRAINED BY 3. If you dont have ur kid shiting somewhere besides their pants by 3 u should not be able to breed.

#280 - On 06/04/2009 at 11:14pm by sweedjohanson

Ashley: I've studied the legal system plenty, given the number of lawyers that I have in my family whom I've asked for advice on free speech issues (I work in network security). I have dealt first hand with more than a few First and Ninth Amendment cases. I can tell you, with full confidence, that you are full of shit. You know absolutely nothing about the U.S. Constitution, how it works, or what its LIMITS are. Not a single one of the freedoms it guarantees are absolute, nor do they even APPLY in a private forum. And save your breath about my parenting skills. You have no idea what you're talking about. You're just making shit up because it makes you feel better.

PassiveSunshine: I'm going to break a major rule of Internet arguing here and apologize. You're clearly not the person I thought you were. Based on personal experience, I still disagree that there is something *wrong* if a child is not fully potty trained by three years old, but I think it's clear that we agree on several other more important issues. Kudos especially on the cloth diapers. We use them too. They're a lot of work, but I think it's worth it.

What I meant by "pick" was not that you are somehow choosing only the kids that you want, but that by making potty training a requirement for entry, that means that the kids you see most often are, by definition, within the age group AND potty trained. That leads to confirmation bias.

SO... We have your experience, which I believe to be skewed one way, and my experience, which is quite possibly skewed the other way (due to lack of a statistically significant sample size). So what we need are the numbers. Do you know of a study that shows the min/avg/max age ranges? These stats seem to exist for nearly every other aspect of child growth. There MUST be some around someplace.

#281 - On 06/04/2009 at 11:42pm by thuryn

star_ver: I'm not related to the OP. For some reason, I find FML "debates" rather fun and amusing. They can be surprisingly thought-provoking. Just when you think something is clearly black-and-white, you find some commenter 126 posts down who makes an observation that pops your eyes out.

It's not entirely... how should I put it?... "good clean fun," I'll admit. Sometimes I find people like PassiveSunshine who are intelligent and keep their cool and prove themselves worthy conversationalists. But I enjoy tweaking people like Ashley as well. She clearly can't control her temper and doesn't really have anything to say, and it's fun to get her all riled up. I'd feel bad about it if she didn't so richly deserve it.

But yeah, I get going a bit too fast sometimes and stick my foot in it. That's fine. I'm not perfect either. But when it happens, I've been known to apologize. (see above)

A hero complex though? Nah. I just click the "monitor" button on FMLs that seem to have something interesting in them. The nature of my days gives me little bits of time where I can read these, and sometimes respond, but NOT larger chunks of time where I could go do something more useful. I'd much rather go work in my garage or in the yard or write some Perl. But as you can imagine, the last thing my wife wants after being home with the kids by herself all day is for me to go get all dirty and smelly and greasy. Not great for being available to take the kids.

So I read these. I don't really take it as seriously as my comments probably sound. It's not arguing with people on the Internet that's pathetic. It's only pathetic if you *actually* get all upset about it. Trust me, I sleep just fine. ;)

As someone once sarcastically put it, "I can't go. I'm busy! Someone on the Internet is WRONG!" Ha!

peeps saying she needed to teach her 3 year old not to obviously know NOTHING about child development of the brain..they learn from experiences and seeing..not hearing.......

i started reading this and was like "oh god" because i thought you were going to wake up to a house on fire or some kind of gas leakage or spilled cleaning supplies.. i am glad it wasnt as much as a safety issue as those would be.. FYL..but also try to keep a better eye or put the child down for a nap in the same room as yourself so you can prevent future mishaps

Apology appreciated Thuryn. I do not know of any studies offhand but I will confer with my colleague, a professor, she teaches a fantastic Developmental Psychology course and has greater access to studies such as these.

You are a lousy excuse for a human being, and I'm sorry that you don't get to enjoy the pleasures of being a good parent, you must have been neglected yourself thuryn. So get off your fucking high horse and shut the fuck up for once. You think your shit doesn't stink and it's pretty pathetic.

#292 - On 06/05/2009 at 8:01pm by Ashley_Kretz

doesn't this happen all the time? i've heard this story from a babysitter friend and it didn't phase her at all.

#294 - On 06/05/2009 at 8:43pm by amazingkate

Ashley: Where do you get this stuff about me not being a good parent? That's what amuses me. You keep going on and on about it, but you don't know *anything* about me.

And besides, it's not my fault your a complete idiot and just proved it to the entire Internet. If you didn't want us all to know how much you think you deserve to be so mouthy and how we should all have to sit and listen to your crap...

...then why are YOU still here? I thought you told me to fuck off for the "FINAL TIME" like three posts ago.

Do you have anything to say, or are you just still here to be stupid some more?

#295 - On 06/05/2009 at 9:51pm by thuryn

Ashley, you're the one who really needs to shut up because YOU are making an ass of yourself...
From the sound of it you haven't been laid in a VERY long time!

#296 - On 06/06/2009 at 2:35am by missanica

Missanica, sorry to inform you honey, but I'm married. So the whole getting laid part isn't an issue. The issue is that this little imbecile Thuryn keeps running his mouth. He must have a cock shoved up his ass or something. And yes I told you to fuck off ages ago it seems, but then you have to continue to run your mouth and expect to retaliation in return. God, you need some serious help. So how about you just stop trying to run people's lives and all the hoo ha..get over yourself. This shit started because you had to run your mouth about a comment that I made. And it turned into this huge heated discussion that's pathetic. So don't post back because I'm sick of READING not listening you moron about what else you feel you must say.

I'm a great parent, so I can judge whomever I damn well please. It's not my fault that people don't know how to switch who naps while the baby is down. That's why if you do decide to take a nap, put the kid in the room with you so once they get up and start moving, you know that they're up. It's common sense.

So Thuryn, seriously, get over yourself Mr. Holier than Thou

#297 - On 06/06/2009 at 4:37am by Ashley_Kretz

i think every kid has done this lol

#298 - On 06/06/2009 at 6:07am by THysios

Ashley: Oh, so YOU say you're a great parent, so that gives you the right to judge people? Well guess what? *I* say I'm a BETTER parent than you are, so I get to tell you to shut the fuck up.

And yeah, you probably do need to get laid. Or maybe you aren't as good a WIFE as you are a mother (supposedly)? I'm betting your family avoids you because of your temper. You obviously can't control it very well.

And don't you change your story NOW. Your first post was about three year olds in diapers, not being in the same room. You only started that absolutely ridiculous stuff later. You started by being judgemental about the OP's kid wearing pull-ups, then changed it around until all you care about is "winning" some Internet argument against me, using profanity and hauteur as your only weapons.

You're pathetic. Go be a better parent. Now.

#299 - On 06/06/2009 at 3:12pm by thuryn

Honey, let me just tell you something. I'm a great wife and a great mother. I also am very close with my family. I don't have temper issues. The only problem I have is with your stupid ass coming on here and trying to play fmylife God. Like I said WAY back when, anyone can say whatever they choose. This is a website for Christ's sake. And yeah, I know that my original argument was about the child being in diapers at 3 years old, but then other commented on how the child should be in the same room and then wouldn't you know it, you had to run your mouth about that and get a pissy about it. But unlike you, I have no problems getting laid....and if I'm making myself look like an idiot, you just keep on retaliating, so wouldn't that mean you were sinking down to "my level?" Way to go there an call yourself pathetic, dumbass!

#300 - On 06/06/2009 at 10:47pm by Ashley_Kretz

Ashley: "Calling myself pathetic" by calling you pathetic? Going back to just saying the same old wrong stuff as before? "Unlike me you get laid?" "Honey?"

Are you going to bring out the "opposite day" argument next? You argue like an 8-year-old. And this whole thread is proof you have temper issues. Want to prove me wrong? Walk away.

Web sites are owned by private companies. If they don't want you to say something, they can delete your post or revoke your account, and there is nothing the First Amendment can do about it. Once again, the First Amendment is a protection against the government, and no one else. Get it through your thick skull. There is no "freedom of speech" on a Web site.

Just because it's a Web site doesn't mean it's okay to be stupid, and the fact that we're all allowed to post at all here is a privilege, not a right.

#301 - On 06/07/2009 at 3:31am by thuryn

Dude, you make no sense, you twisted everything I said. You called me pathetic, but by your repetitive retaliation, your showing the world that you're the one with the temper issues and that you're on a lower level of scum than God knows what. You are the one who needs to walk away hun. I simply stated my opinion on this post, so get over it....I don't see why you had to call out one person when there has been SEVERAL people. You must get some kind of sick pleasure of trying to belittle others. Get over it and move on dude, seriously. And for God's sake, I will say what I want, when I want. There is nothing you can do about it, so once again get over it and put your foot in your mouth. Thanks!!!

P.S. Learn to comprehend what people are saying before you start running your mouth. Make sure you're not twisting everyone's words, you're making yourself look like a total ass when you do that!

#302 - On 06/07/2009 at 5:00am by Ashley_Kretz

#302: I seriously hope you don't live in the U.S., Ashley, because you're the one who thinks it's important to post at 5:00am. Shouldn't you be, say, sleeping?

As for tempers, I believe *I* am the one who has repeatedly given evidence and logic for my positions, and I am the one who managed to come to a civil agreement with others in this thread, whereas YOU are the one who has used endless profanity, continues to refer to me as "hun" and "honey", has no evidence or information to offer, and merely attacks me personally rather than say anything useful.

You accusation that I twist other people's words around is funny, since in your previous post, you tried to make it sound as if I was calling myself pathetic. Your attempt was juvenile, so once again, I called you out on your stupidity, and you don't like it.

Too bad, "hun." You're an idiot. Everyone knows you're an idiot. You were wrong about the baby monitor. You were wrong about the First Amendment. You have tried attacking me personally and failed. Give it up. You lose.

#303 - On 06/07/2009 at 9:00pm by thuryn

Haven't you ever heard of the saying "if you retaliate, you're sinking to the other person's level?" Well apparently that's what you're doing. By your countless acts of retaliation, you showing everyone that you are on my level. So that would make you pathetic, a moron and whatever else you said. And too bad for you, I work at a hospital and am working odd hours, so me being up and posting back at 5:00 am isn't unusual considering I had to be at work at 6:30am and happened to get on here and seen that there was a new post on here. Low and behold, it had to be you running your mouth once again.

You may have come to a "civil agreement" with others, but you damn sure can't respect what others had to say about this incident that happened with the poster. Get over it, no matter what you say, what you do, nor anyone else, everyone is going to have something different to say about the issue. That's how life is.

I'm not attacking you, you were the one who originally started this shit by not respecting that everyone had something different to say about this issue. Get over it dick.

#304 - On 06/07/2009 at 9:09pm by Ashley_Kretz

#122, nobody was in nappies when I was in nursery, aged 2-3. 4 is definitely not an average age.

#305 - On 06/07/2009 at 9:18pm by godyourethick

'godyourethick': No one said 4 was an average, only that there is nothing magical about 3 years. PassiveSunshine is going to see if she can find some actual studies on the topic, though, since we're all just going on personal experience, which is too small a sample size and subject to confirmation bias.

Ashley: Gosh! Your big, long replay came only 9 minutes after mine! I'm glad you have so much time on your hands between working at a hospital and being such a WONDERFUL wife and mother to watch this thread like a hawk. Heaven forbid someone else might get the last word!

More to the point, you're still an idiot. I never said other people couldn't have opinions. I just said that your opinion was stupid. You should respect my opinion that you're stupid, especially since I've proven it time and again (especially on the First Amendment thing; sheesh!).

Or is fairness only for you and not for other people? Way to set an example for your kids, you hypocrite.

#306 - On 06/07/2009 at 9:52pm by thuryn

hey dumbass, there were several people who said the same thing before I did....but you had to open your mouth about it once I say something. And FYI, my son is over at my parents' house this weekend because they wanted to spend a little time with him. So how about you just put your foot in your mouth you moron. And there you go once again, ragging on someone else, Jesus Christ, leave people the hell alone. You must get some kind of self gratification from messing with people. Get over it and stop responding and everyone will be just peachy keen.

#307 - On 06/07/2009 at 10:03pm by Ashley_Kretz

Once again, a reply in about ten minutes! Your kid is away and you spend your time *here*?! FYL. You need something better to do.

How about a book on the way the U.S. government works? You never seemed to grasp that part of our earlier conversation. Or perhaps something about punctuation and grammar? Or debate tactics, perhaps?

I fail to see how I put my foot in my mouth, seeing as no matter how you spin it, you have nothing better to do than sit around waiting for me to remind you that you're stupid. Go read something.

#308 - On 06/08/2009 at 12:35am by thuryn

Hun, I'm sorry that it seemed like I was monitoring this, but every time that I logged onto here for a quick laugh before I left to do something, I would see that there was a new comment on this FML. Well look at yourself, you saying what you want, is that stopping you? The answer is no, and obviously you can say what you want when you want, so that proves my point on here. Get over it. End of story. And no matter what you say, you're not going to stop me from saying what I want, so how about you just shut your mouth for once, now I have to get ready for work, piss off you shithead.

#309 - On 06/08/2009 at 4:22am by Ashley_Kretz

Hey, baby. We meet again.

It doesn't "seem" like you're monitoring this. You ARE monitoring this. You clicked the "Monitor the comments" button, which is how you can see that there are new comments on this thread. Don't give me that "main post changes color" crap, because this thread is WAY off the main page by now.

I already stated above that I'm waiting for a response from PassiveSunshine. You can't send personal messages on here, and you can't send personal messages TO anyone on here, so this is really the only way I can do it. So I'm monitoring the comments, hoping every time that it's her and not you.

But alas, the Internet gave me you. Again. And darlin', once again you prove my point that you can't post a thing without resorting to profanity. If you work in a hospital, aren't you smart enough to come up with something better than that? Or are you just the receptionist and you say you work at a hospital so you can look smart?

Have a nice day, sweetie!

#310 - On 06/08/2009 at 8:21am by thuryn

Hun, I work in the lab doing blood work, so I'm not around patients, so I can say whatever I damn well please. FUCK FUCK FUCKETEY FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!! Get over it, I have a "potty mouth." Whoop dee fucking doo. Well if you were smart since you're monitoring these, you would see that it's me, and not her, so since it's me, you don't have to respond, dumbass. Wouldn't that be the smart thing to do? But once again, you're proving to be on the lower level, so once and for fucking all, fuck off and stop responding back to me, I'm sick of having to explain shit to you because you're too fucking retarded. FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK!!!!!!!

#311 - On 06/08/2009 at 6:53pm by Ashley_Kretz

Well FYI thuryn, I do not swear around my KID you retard, you must not pay attention because I have previously stated that I have A son, thank you. I refuse to swear around him, but I'm an adult and if I want to swear on here or at work, I will do so. There isn't a thing you can do about it. Don't like it? Don't read what I post. And as I have once again previously stated, you are able to see that it's me posing on here, not the other lady you're waiting for, so stop responding. And you're nothing but a piece of crap who has nothing better to do with his life but poke fun of people on fmylife. I have read the other things you have said to others, and frankly, I'm not too impressed....get a life dude, seriously...you need a new hobby.

#312 - On 06/09/2009 at 9:23pm by mreow_to_you

Why thank you, Ashley! *blush* I didn't realize I was so important that you would check out things I posted in other threads. I hope you learned something.

As for whether or not you curse around your kid, quite frankly, I don't believe you. People, in general, have a strong tendency to revert to type under stress. My bet is that your kid is going to learn a lot of curse words at an early age because you DON'T EVEN KNOW when you're doing it. I mean, you can't even stop posting on here. Why should anyone believe you can stop swearing just because your kid is present?

And yes, you can swear all you like here or at work or wherever. But you know what? All it does is show that you are an uncreative, boorish person. Calling me a "retard" doesn't bode well for your sense of propriety either. I'm betting you drink to have fun and don't get invited to many places with classy people, and you comfort yourself by calling THEM names too, like "stuffy" and "stuck-up" and so on, even though you know you just aren't good enough for their company.

Here's a hint: Go. Read. A. Book. It's good for you.

#313 - On 06/10/2009 at 12:33am by thuryn

Well thuryn, let me stress this. I do not swear in front of my child. And I barely swear at work. I don't want my son to swear, but you can't stop kids these days. I can control my temper there. But I can't stand it when people pester someone for stating their opinion about something. You continued this thread by continuing to talk you smack. It's rather annoying I must say. You should have stopped this a while ago, when I asked you.

And as far as the drinking goes, hunny, I'm under the age. Plus, I had a child when I was young so I had to grow up. On my days off from work, I devote them entirely to my son and my husband when he's not out at sea. So just shut your mouth, you have no idea what's going on.

And I do go to social events with "classy" people. I have nothing against them. And I certainly don't bash them because that would be rude. The people I do bash however, are the pathetic , low life imbeciles like you who prey on people on this site. You wait for one person to say something that you don't like, and you consistently bash on them. You need to move on. Just because your life is pathetic doesn't mean that you have to bring your meteoric remarks with you to justify yourself. Everyone that you come across will have a different opinion than you. That's how life works. If you don't like it, then stay off this site, because this is one of the biggest sites that causes the most arguments between people and their conflicting opinions. So just move on from this and get over it. Allow people to voice what they so choose to be fit. Thank you thuryn.

And I am not going to apologize to you because you've been nothing but an inconsiderate moron. So find someone else to pick on, because it's not going to work with me, you low life bully!!!

#314 - On 06/10/2009 at 2:46am by Ashley_Kretz

The longer you keep going, Ashley, the more you prove that you're an idiot. Just in your last post, let's see here...

Honey. H-O-N-E-Y. Honey. Learn to spell.

You aren't old enough to drink and you have one kid, and yet you think you know enough to get on here and tell other people how to raise their kids. Sorry, kid, but you aren't old enough to be making the claims and assertions you'd like to. Go sit down. You say you've "had to grow up", but that's not really true. You just had to work hard. It's clear from your posts you haven't grown up yet.

As for your temper and your mouth: I've already told you I don't believe you. Period. I've met too many people with far softer tempers than yours who still ended up with potty mouth kids. It's just how things are, and I highly doubt that you are some amazing exception.

As for your opinion, you can have whatever opinion you like, but get this: I can still have the opinion that you are an idiot, and I can say so, and I can prove it, and I HAVE proved it. I understand that you don't like it, but that's just too bad. See, you opened your mouth, got called on it, and now you're crying "OH I CAN HAVE WHATEVER OPINION I WANT." Well sure you can, but it's a stupid opinion. So if you keep that opinion, then you're a stupid person.

And you have a lot of gall calling ME inconsiderate after all of the profanity and invective you've spewed into this thread. I never claimed to be a nice guy. Far from it. I'm an asshole. Deal. But you're an amazing hypocrite for trying to take the high road after the crap you've written.

The best possible outcome of all of this would be that you have a day where YOU leave YOUR kid alone for five minutes and come to find HIM writing on the wall in his own poo. Then you'll be forced to deal with the fact that you've been a judgemental know-it-all twat, and that somewhere, cgregg is smiling and he doesn't know why.

#315 - On 06/10/2009 at 7:54am by thuryn

well too bad that my son knows that poo isn't something to play with. The only thing he's done that was similar was write on the wall with a crayon, and that can be cleaned with a Magic Erase Marker. Get over yourself thuryn. You're trying to justify yourself on here. You're a bully, face it. Leave everyone alone so we can all move on with our lives. I'm sick of having to respond to you because you can't take my advice and grow up and stop posting yourself. I raised my kid by myself without my parents' help. So I have learned a lot. And if you have older kids, younger kids mimic their habits. So potty training should have been no issue with the OP.

#316 - On 06/10/2009 at 12:55pm by Ashley_Kretz

Ashley: So when you tell other people that they are being bad parents and try to justify yourself with bad interpretations of US law, you're "just expressing yourself." But when *I* tell you that you're full off crap and prove it, I'm "just being a bully."

Do you know what that means? That means you are a hypocrite.

Younger kids do tend to mimic older siblings' habits, but it's not a Rule That Is Always Obeyed. It's a tendency. The younger kids are still their own persons and will exhibit as many differences as similarities, especially if there is a significant age difference. I have a brother-in-law who is four years old. I'm pretty sure he isn't going to get his potty habits from his married older sisters.

So not only do you not know nearly enough about the OP's situation to be making those judgements, but once again you demonstrate that you don't know as much as you think you do.

My advice to you is to walk away. You lose. Face it. There is no "bullying" going on here. This isn't the playground where I can actually hurt you. All you have to do is click "OFF" on "monitor the comments". You aren't forced to come here, you aren't forced to read what I write, you aren't being traumatized for life. You're just being whiny because you mouthed off and got called on it. Such is life. Time to give up.

#317 - On 06/10/2009 at 2:12pm by thuryn

You just need to give up. And there is such a thing called internet bullying...and that's what you do...you go around to random fml's and bitch about other people....you don't know anything about said situations yourself, and the OP already stated that his kids weren't that much older, so it shouldn't have been that hard for his youngest. So, please, I'm asking you nicely, stop responding unless it's from Passive.

#318 - On 06/10/2009 at 7:02pm by Ashley_Kretz

Internet bullying is a thing made up by people who wish the world was fair. The very notion of it implies that I have some sort of power over you that I exert to make you miserable. The thing is, that's not the case. I have no such power, or at least, none that you don't give me yourself.

Eleanor Roosevelt coined the phrase, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." That has never been more true than on the Internet. There are so many different ways in which you are completely and totally safe if you choose to be...

...and yet you choose to return, over and over and over.

Seriously. Not kidding here. Why?

#319 - On 06/10/2009 at 11:54pm by thuryn

I'm wanting you to stop this. I have asked you numerous times to stop responding, but you continue to rabble on. I'm sick of it. You can't listen to anyone. Just stop responding, please! This is the last time I'm going to ask you.

#320 - On 06/11/2009 at 12:32am by Ashley_Kretz

You didn't answer my question, though. Why do you care so much?

I'm being serious, here. What is it about this thread that keeps you coming back? Is it just pride, or is it something more important?

You've kept at this for so long that I can't help but be curious.

#321 - On 06/11/2009 at 7:22am by thuryn

Well it's because you keep on....I've asked you numerous times to back off and stop responding, but you have failed to do so....so it must be some kind of pride thing for you.

#322 - On 06/11/2009 at 2:07pm by Ashley_Kretz

You shouldn't have a 3 year old in a diaper. You deserve it!

#323 - On 06/11/2009 at 2:49pm by XjoreXcorex

Yeah, I get that part, but why do YOU keep responding? That's the part I don't get. Why do you care what I think?

#324 - On 06/11/2009 at 5:54pm by thuryn

You must not understand that I've asked you to stop with this, and you just can't seem to process that you needed to let this go way back when before things escalated the way they did. None of this would have happened if you hadn't criticized me about something I said. If you want to pick on someone else for not reading the previous posts, why don't you mess with the person that posted right before you did. The first thing that I said shouldn't have bothered you, but you let it, so you had to mess with me.

#325 - On 06/11/2009 at 8:51pm by Ashley_Kretz

Fine. Whatever. I was talking about YOU. I'm curious as to why YOU are still bothering with this thread.

I'm getting the idea that it's just because you think you're right and that's enough to keep you going until you "win." If that's the case, I'm seriously disappointed. For a minute, you had me thinking there was some as yet unexplained deeper reason that you've kept it up.

But now I think you just want the last word, which is... a letdown.

#326 - On 06/11/2009 at 8:59pm by thuryn

It has nothing to do with me wanting the last word. That is not what I'm about....this should have never have went this far, it's ridiculous. You've been calling me a kid this whole time, but truth be told, we're proving to everyone on here that both of us have been acting like children to continue this pathetic argument about who's right and who's not. Neither of us are right nor wrong. Both of us just need to forget that this ever happened and move on with our lives so we don't have to continue going back and forth on this.

#327 - On 06/11/2009 at 9:46pm by Ashley_Kretz

*shakes head*

No. I'm sorry. You can't just try to end it with, "Well, no one is right or wrong." That's not how the world works. Sometimes people *are* right and sometimes people *are* wrong. Don't wuss out now with that crap.

You can tell me you think I'm wrong. That, I can respect. Or you can tell me I'm right. That's fine too.

But after all this, don't you DARE get all wishy-washy on me. What do you THINK? Don't throw away your opinion just because you want to avoid a conflict. You've obviously gotten past your temper because you're starting to make sense again. Now's the time to make your final call. Make a judgement and stick to it.

You might not find a single person who agrees with you, but that's not the point. The point is YOU will have made a decision for yourself. Nobody else matters.

I said before that you don't have a *right* to have a stupid opinion and that the First Amendment doesn't apply to a privately owned online forum. I stand by that opinion.

The flip side of that coin is that everyone has stupid opinions at first. Then they think about things and come up with better opinions. You may not have a *right* to go tell everyone about them, but it's in your *own best interest* to go through the trouble to think for yourself in the first place and form that opinion.

You're tenacious. That's obvious because you're still here. Prove to us that it wasn't a waste of time. What do you THINK? Not about me. I don't matter. About all the other things we talked about. Even "I don't know" is a fair answer, but I'm hoping for more than that. Lay it on us.

#328 - On 06/11/2009 at 11:17pm by thuryn

Today, I'm disappointed because the only two people on the Internet who appeared to have any brains turned out to be as uninteresting as everyone else in the end. FML.

#329 - On 06/16/2009 at 8:16am by thuryn

out of curiosity, who were those two people lol

#330 - On 06/16/2009 at 1:07pm by Ashley_Kretz

this is so fake. when your asleep, your smelling senses completly shut off so you couldnt of woken up to the smell.

#331 - On 06/22/2009 at 10:36pm by Caayouteepie

If I were you I would have lied about the age of the child.

#332 - On 06/23/2009 at 7:54pm by groovy_deadite

I can imagine some of these posters don't have children, nor do they have experience in raising small children. You can't take care ofa child properly if you don't rest, if I remember correctly, when I had my son, I was advised the best time to nap was while they're napping =/. So, it's not a matter of not watching your child, shit happens -litterally-. But potty training? PReschool or not, kids move at their own pace, you can push and shove all you want, but it's up to them. When they're ready, they will do it. Yeah, preschool doesn't accept children who aren't potty trained, but the best you can do is to encourage your child to try the potty, and move them along like that. To other parents who potty trained their brats earlier, props to you, it's not a race, grow up =/, before your kids think they're intellegent for using a potty. Seriously. Back before disposable diapers, the only reason they potty trained quickly was because cloth diapers suck, ONLY reason.
To OP, wow, my son's only managed to have explosive diarhea out the sides of his O_o, and run around the house squealing proudly of his 'accomplishment' Thus spreading the poop. I truely feel for you, because I'm dreading that phase.

#333 - On 07/26/2009 at 12:04am by mommyKagu

Um.... Why is your 3 year old wearing diapers???

#334 - On 09/22/2009 at 12:31am by MissKittie

i did the same thing as your kid... but i was 1.

#335 - On 01/03/2010 at 8:07pm by emilyy5

OMGosh! A-mazing! And #333 is right, children progress at their own rate, my daughter potty trained HERSELF at two, and my son just turned three and still wears night diapers and at nap time - it's about their comfort level. Girls are easier to train, I haven't researched the reason, but what worked well for us was throwing a "Potty Party", we had a cake and friends and her gifts were a new potty seat and Dora undies, and at the end of the party she threw her diapers in the garbage. It made it a special milestone for her and she was very proud that she was "too big" for diapers, thus making using the potty very special. Of course, this soooooo did not work with my son, lol. (I suspect he's just a little lazy) But it got a little easier with him when my husband taught him to pee standinng up, and he proudly strutted around telling all that he can "pee like a man". Hang in there cgregg, it all resolves in time, your doing a great job, don't lett others OBVIOUS ingnorance get you down. Oh, and enjoy those naps, because all mothers know they eventually get too old for naps and then we are SOL!

And to those of you who think this is an area for grudge matches and seriously rude debates, did you notice the "send a private message" link!? USE IT!

#336 - On 01/10/2010 at 11:14pm by jzombiemom

I used to do the same thing as a toddler, my mom would lay me down for a nap and I would have my diaper off and be painting the walls, crib, myself and whatever toys I had !!! She said that she could close the door and 2secs later open the door and I'd be at it. I was potty trained, but some toddlers still need nighttime protection. Kids throw alot of stuff at parents, always expect the unexpected. It doesn't sound like you are a bad Mom. All kids develop at their own rate. Good luck with your little Picasso....who knows that creativeness could pay off for her some day...Hey this isn't my mom telling this FML is it?????
