One of my friends has a T-Shirt proclaiming that they take the 'the' out of psychotherapist.
Now that is hilarious.
Psycho rapist.
Haha. XD
its from tshirt hell, and i want it. but who can be bothered with online shopping...no sir, i try my shit on before i hand over money.
It's not really that clever. I've heard it many times. A little cliche even.
OP: Just don't pay the therapist and leave.
fake... a professional wouldn't leave a client in the middle of their appointment.
you hear psycho rapist many times? hmmm. me thinks you got bigger issues than cliche sayings...
Shiny new BMW tops whiney self obsessed person every time.
Though I do hope you made sure he didn't charge you for the session at least.
Every time...
... Unless you're a therapist. c:
#2 you're an idiot.
It's the therapists job to help out a person in need even if they are just whining, that's what they're getting paid for. She was rude to the OP and the OP should have walked out then and there and found a new therapist.
OP FYL for what happened. Hopefully you walked out and never go back to her. You should also think about filing a formal complaint or, in the least, make it clear to others that she's a horrible therapist and get her name out there for what she's done. I know there are websites and newspaper articles in my area all the time written by patients that tell you how the doctors treated them, maybe you should look into one of them.
wow TheTruth1428.... it was a joke. Way to take it seriously
For someone treating depression,
That's a pretty big indiscretion.
I say to be happy,
Tell her she's crappy,
And refuse to pay for the session!
this is pretty freakin awesome...but I think this is a ripoff of that 'iReply with lyrics' chick
but yours are original (right?) which makes you cooler
Probably a rip-off. But it's fun. I can see why iReply does it.
Well that's kinda fucked up isnt it.
It's they're job you know.. :X
NUMBER~4
haha dude i was like that rhymed till i saw ur name i was like ohhh
hah sick shit
kuddos to number 4
:D
Thank you, thank you very much ^^
I thought theres a rule you can't answer phone calls? When I had one I wasn't even whinny I was always just telling her about my day and they neever ever answered a call!
You seem to have a knack for the limerick, #4.
(This was supposed to be a reply, but the site broke a little)
Lymrics:
my anti-drug
I also owned waaaay too many Dr Sues books as a child
There is no such thing as too much Dr Suess.
umm therapists aren't allowed to do that...? and nobody is that rude anyway. faaaaaaaake.
"nobody is that rude anyway"
where do you live?
Heh. Nobody is that rude? Dude, you should inhale deeply, go outside and take a huge bite of the thing you call "reality."

where do u live?!?!?!? lol their are people much ruder then that out there by a long shot.
They are allowed to do that, they just usually have more class than to take an unimportant call.
um yeah they do, my daughter's therapist does rude things like that all the time. They should have their cell phones OFF during sessions imho
Totally out of line. Her phone should be off during a session. I'd let her know that you would appreciate her full attention during sessions, as you're paying a lot of money for it.
Agreed. That's extremely unprofessional behavior and you should probably look into getting a new doctor.
Hahahha, that's nothing. One time I went in, and talked about feeling depressed and lonely, and then the guy pulled a 7-11 bag out and ate a candy bar and soda like it was a movie. lol.
You know, much as that sucks, I believe that the very fact that you have the sense of humor to FML about it is a good sign, you're gonna be just fine ;)

YDI for contributing to her new BMW.
I think the OP should tell us about his problems in this thread.
Was the call from the dealer or the shop to discuss something important about the car?
Or, was it from one of her friends and she prattled on like a Valley Girl about how awesome it was to have such a sweet ride and all she had to get it was pretend to listen to whiny-ass, teaty babies bitch about their made-up and exaggerted "problems?"
As a psychotherapist, I am appalled. Certainly find another therapist because they are not all like that. I would never do something like that. Heck, I can barely afford to keep my 98 Ford Explorer running anyways.
I hope you find someone that can help you and will be more professional. You are not alone in your feelings or in life.
Perhaps no one cares about you because you whine too much. Depression is the mind's way of telling you that something is wrong. You just need to figure it out. There are plenty of other people in life who deal with similar problems and who just might be in the same boat as you, if not worse. Egocentrism is not a virtue.
Blastvortex, this is one of the worst things you can say to a depressed person. Depression is a disease, it's not a character flaw or whininess. People die from this illness. Think before you speak, because that was really insensitive.
OP, you deserve better. A good therapist should gives you his/her undivided attention at all times during a session, because that's what they're getting paid for. Definitely look for someone else. Eventually you should find a good fit.
Good on you for getting help. It's not always easy, and it's a sign of strength.
don't expect anyone to care. everything isn't about you. toughen up.
Actually, you are right -- no one cares. That's why psychotherapists get the big bucks. Since, no one cares in reality, they've made a job where you can get paid a fortune to pretend you do care, and for the 50-minute hour, everything IS about the customer.
Same scheme as the lap dance.
am i the only one who doesnt see why this is an issue? i mean, so long as she didnt cut the session short or anything and you still got the full thing. and did she actually say to you shes expecting a call and might need to duck out for a minute?
the way our society is organised seems somewhat stupid anyway, almost all businesses trade at the same time during working hours 9-5 while youre working, so you never get time to do anything anyway unless you use a lunch break...its so counterproductive. either trade an extra day or reduce working hours so people can get shit done! otherwise they take fake sikkies, leave early, arrive late and all other nonsense. no need for the overly hectic lifestyles! good thing im studying to work in a field with 30 hour weeks. joy XD
also depression is for losers. get over that shit or no1 will ever want you around them.
That last sentence makes you an idiot.
YDI for being such a pussy

Get back under your bridge, troll.
If that is what happened, I would report her because that is highly unprofessional and uncalled for. I am sorry to hear that that happened to you. Depression sucks and is bad enough to go through. You don't need someone that you are paying to help you act so rudely and poorly to you.
depression sucks I've been dealing with it for 4 years. fyl
OP, go take out a world map. Now look for the smallest possible island in the Pacific Ocean. See it? That's where the people who care about you live. Good day.
I call fake pschotherapists get paid to pretend they care. They aren't even allowed to take other calls while in a counseling session
Um, are you serious? You realize that a good deal of people with degrees in psychology are self-employed, right? Why would you assume there's a global set of rules that every psychotherapist has to follow? Even if they did, would it be so hard to believe that someone broke them? You are a moron. I hate people like you who call out fake on every FML without any real cause.
Not true. My mom's a psychologist and she's on call 24/7, so she has to answer her business phone because she might have to hospitalize a patient. She's also answered her personal phone when I've called (though I wish she wouldn't because I don't usually have anything important enough to say).
Seriously? You think therapists run around without any rules to follow? Not only are there laws that govern how therapists work, but a code of ethics that people need to follow if they want to keep their license and certification. Ever heard of the American Psychological Association? (I am sure other countries have their own versions). The first thing we learn is ethics and law. Then they teach us how to do therapy.
The only reason the therapist was listening to the OP in the first place is that she was being paid to.
It's not clear if the therapist knew what the call was about when she took it. She could have been worried about another client who had a problem more serious than just feeling sorry for herself.
right... i think a block should be put against over emotional girls placing an fml on this site
the OP is a man douche bag
Hope you listened enough to know which BMW is hers.
Now you can key it. It'll make you feel MUCH better, I guarantee.
I hate when people do that. I've ended friendships over improper cell phone etiquette. People need to grow up.
Silly rabbit! BMW>You! XD but seriously..FYL =\
i don't think therapists are really supposed to answer their phones unless it's an emergency call. so unless one of her patients stole her bmw, then that's just really rude.
find a different therapist. i went to this one lady and somehow we got on the topic of abortion, so she showed me pictures of dead babies. i never went back. but now i have a good therapist, so go find another one.
also, try reading overcoming depression for dummies. i just bought the anxiety one, and it's interesting and has a lot of good shit in it so it might help.
and whoever said that no one else cares is wrong. i don't know many people who care, but i know a few. so you don't have to pay someone to listen, but therapists do help. well, the good ones help at least.
and whoever said depression is your mind telling you something is wrong, being depressed and having depression are totally different.
anyone can get depressed over anything and that's normal. people with depression have a chemical imbalance and their brain isn't producing enough serotonin. if he is depressed because of something that happened, he probably just needs someone to talk to and some new friends or something.
but if he has depression, he probably needs medicine to help with the imbalance, and then he will still need to be in therapy too.

thatz cold

Find another therapist, and report her to your local therapists group, the Better Business Bureau, and your insurance company. See if you and your insurance company will work together to refuse her bill for her lack of service - I'm sure neither you nor your insurance company want to pay for obviously crappy treatment, and you deserve better. After all, you've taken the first big step in wanting to seek help - there are too many people with depression that don't.
Fake...
I'm a therapist, its against our code of ethics to do shit like that.
Either sue that bitch, or get a life and stop posting lies on FML
Therapists are being paid to LISTEN to you. They don't have to care about you. Most people who whine about nobody caring about them are attention-whores that people are sick of listening to. You want people to care about you? Make a difference in their life. Try listening to OTHERS for a change.
wow guys, chill out. so the therapist answered the phone about her new car. that's important and a big investment, and it probably was ok for her, in that situation, to take that call.
if OP feels like her therapist having other important matters in her life means that the therapist doesn't care about her, then that might be an issue to be addressed in therapy too.

I generally wouldn't mind my therapist taking a short call during my session; if, say, she was waiting for an estimate from a mechanic before okaying the repair. I would mind, however, if it was an especially difficult or intense session, as it seems the OP's was, and she wasn't sensitive to that.
Then again, I'm in therapy because I put everyone's needs before my own. So this comment might earn me a gentle scolding.
I am also a mental health professional. Entirely against our ethical code and not how we're trained at all.
Perhaps a fake. Or someone who brings down the field a notch.

YDI for not growing up. So you are boring. Big deal.
Hmm, go figure, I had just finished reading this post and thought "Wow, this sounds exactly like something that would come out of California... Where is the poster from? You guessed it!
Refuse to pay for the session.
However, YDI........ grow up........ stop whining and start acting like a responsible adult. Every person has to deal with life's hardships - some just deal with it to the best of their abilities, while others decide to act like spoiled brats and pay therapist to listen to their moaning since no one else will
ur comment makes no sense to me, probably because i have feelings which apparently you don't
how are they a moaning spoiled brat, for talking to someone about how depressed they are? theyre trying to solve their problems by talking about them, would you rather them just kill themselves and get it done with? or would you have them ignore it until it gets even worse? talking about problems help, hence the point of therapists, grow a heart you insensitive prick
not fake, I have witnessed a therapist do this several times
When that happens, you REALLY need to find another therapist. These guys and not here to talk about their new shiny crap they recieve.
