Also why people have TWO thumbs.
I think.
Ouch D: hope it gets better soon!
...I also have gashes and burns on my thumbs too due to my job.
...Fml?
No.
Carving bagels? Plasters? CANDLES?
What the fuck is going on!?
Time heals all, except your dignity.
Wow lol. That really just sucks.
This would not be a good day to take up juggling chainsaws and bottles of acid.
Would any day be a good day to take up juggling chainsaws and bottles of acid?
A day that you are showing a bit of dexterity and want to get on "America's Got Talent."
How come that show is judged by two Brits and a guy who is a has-been here but an idol in Germany?
Cos the original is Britain's got talent :P
That is true. We do steal a lot of game shows from you guys. But we invented Jeopardy, which is the best, so God bless America!
Did you at least cauterize the wound? Or did absolutely no good come of this?
It's just not your day huh OP. tell you what go back to bed and sleep it off you'll be fine when ya wake up.

Given the luck we've heard about, she'd probably die in her sleep.
Ouch, I know how that feels.
Don't worry, it'll heal.
wah wah! just bad luck, not really fyl, but whatever.. just be more careful..
You crazy Brits and your using different words for stuff. So if you put plaster on cuts what do you use on walls? Bacitracin?
You crazy Americans copying our language but changing certain words to make it even weirder and spelling things differently just to piss us off
Oh and yes we put plasters on cuts, doesn't it basically do the same thing? It seals things
Well why do you crazy Americans call it a "band-aid"? It sounds like a charity event.
Because it's a top brand name for covering wounds. That's why.
We didn't copy your language. You guys brought it with you when you colonized this country. Plaster as we know it is a chemical compound meant to seal holes in walls and such so it can be painted over. I would hope you guys don't put shit like that on your cuts. It can't be good putting whatever the hell is in that stuff in your blood stream.
Besides Band-Aids, as well as the computer and INTERNET you're on are American inventions.
The World Wide Web was invented by an English physicist.
Just saying. I'm not American nor British though.

I thought CERN invinted the interenet?
The Internet (TCP/IP) was created at Stanford. The World Wide Web was developed by CERN. At least according to Wikipedia, anyway.
The internet was invented by a British Academic, not an American.
This is a repsonse to every1 above me about the internet.
the internet was developed by the military, for the military and boomed into what it is today - not by CERN. Just because you read it on Wikipedia, doesn't make it right. FUCK! Also, what correlation does a physicist and the world wide web, have in common.. it just doesn't make sense! internet != physics. (!= means; does not equal, for those less informed)
reading the fml makes my leg feel very weird and that's not a good thing. it reminds the time i made a gash in my right arm when I was 6 or 7 Years old. OP that must hurt a lot. I feel bad for you.
how do you burn your thumb lighting a candle with a lighter..
spit out your gum before deciding to walk
A gash means deep... And you can't even get a gash on your thumb. What is it, quarter inch at most to the bone? Unless you have some freakish balloons for thumbs you are a bloody pansy.
I bet you posted this to hide the truth about your crack thumb.
Be sure not to suffocate yourself with your pillows tonight...And in the morning(if you make it to the morning that is..)Make sure that when you shower, you don't drown...I'm not sure how,but I wouldn't put it past you...Posting an FML because you burnt your hand and got a cut...You should try working construction, you'd be on here everyday crying,if you hadn't quit after you got a boo-boo that is...
people like you are a disgrace to mankind

For those who don't know -- "plaster" is what they call a Band-Aid in the UK. I was mystified when I tried to buy band-aids at a drug store and the clerk had no idea what I was talking about. So yeah, she put a band-aid on it, not actual plaster.
I seriously can't see why this is bad enough to be an FML. I mean yeah it sucks that you burned yourself and got cut but seriously not even close to an FML level.
YDI for using fire when having combustable-anything near/on you. Darwin Award
I don't know any plasters that would catch on fire from a lighter unless you held the flame against it for a good amount of time. Even then I'm not convinced...

In the Yiddish language they have a word for someone that is inept or clumsy - Klutz!!!
Wow, precauterized wounds! Now THAT's convenient!
lol wow that sucks.. I cut my thumb open cutting bagels last year. I got 8 stitches and lost partial feeling in my left thumb =[
Did you bleed on the bagels? Mmm bagels. Well, if you're not going to eat them ...
What? Oh, get well soon.
Plaster? Is your thumb made of walls?
Man you are SO FUNNY! SERIOUSLY, WOW! So damn ORIGINAL! You must be proud :)
Plaster (UK def.s):
Band-Aid
Stuff on walls
Casts
#55, are you really going to sit there and pretend you have no idea what a homonym is?
What about bank? When someone says "I was down by the river bank," does an image of sea otters giving out loans pop into your head?
@yourkiddingright
Klutz is not from Yiddish (I'm pretty sure). Yiddish has the following two words for such a person:
Shlemiel— the one who spills his soup.
Shlemazel— the one he spills it on.
So you decided to use to the same thumb you cut to light the candle. Unfortunately, you didnt set yourself on fire.
