Today, I spilt purple washing detergent all over my white carpet. Desperate to get it up I grabbed a blue towel and started mopping it up. The detergent hasn't stained the carpet at all, the blue dye from the towel has. FML

A detergent that stains would be pretty ineffective... Lol That sucks, though.

Put some food coloring on it and make it a rainbow?

OP thought the soap would stain the carpet, not mess it up in other ways. They actually thought the purple color of the detergent, rather than its concentrated cleaning power, would harm the carpet. That's why they're retarded.

common sense would say detergent wouldn't stain...

Detergent isn't the same thing as soap, haha.

Detergent is not soap Detergent is not soap Detergent is not soap Detergent is not soap Detergent is not soap Detergent is not soap Detergent is not soap Detergent is not soap It's like someone saying "rectangle" and you assuming it's a square

Ok people. For one thing, it was clearly liquid laundry detergent meant for DARK CLOTHING. Anyone who didn't realize this clearly never wears black, or if they do they're wearing grey now. I would be worried about a white carpet with dark laundry detergent on it too, but yeah, a lighter towel would have been helpful.

no matter what color a washing liquid is, its not supposed to stain clothes. that would be a dumb idea on their part.
