Today, behind a cabinet, I found a scratch-off lottery ticket I hadn't scratched yet. After scratching it off, I realized it's a $2,500 winner. The lottery commission won't accept it because they stopped using that game 2 years ago. FML

The laws are pretty clear for MOST scratch off tickets in any state- The game ends and retailers can no longer sell tickets after all grand prizes are claimed. 1 year from that day cards are no longer valid and can no longer be turned in.

The laws and policy stating that a prize has to be claimed within one year of the end of the game is usually printed on the back of the ticket. That's the way it is in Pennsylvania anyways.
