Today, my university required us to set learning goals for each semester and then evaluate them later. And no, the answer, "I want to learn whatever they teach me in the classes I’m taking" isn't permitted. Neither is picking your own classes. FML

Today my college professor told me that I ask him too many questions. Apparently, my college tuition fee doesn't include learning. FML
Today, my university professor admitted to sometimes just winging it when she's teaching. "Yeah," she said, "sometimes I just don't get this stuff either." No wonder I'm failing. FML
Today, when I selected my classes last semester, I could have taken my required-to-graduate foreign language classes on something doable like Spanish. Instead, not knowing what I was getting into, I selected Classical Greek. It's too late to change my language and my uninformed choice is going to cost me my degree. FML
Today, I received an email from my professor asking me not to jump ahead on assignments as it makes the other students look bad. FML
Today, I sat my end of year assessment. I was quite pleased that nothing I learned in my syllabus came up on the test. FML
Today, I received an email from the secretary of my university. Even though I only have half a year left before I graduate, I'm still required to attend all the lessons for the entire year. Huh? FML
Today, my college English teacher told me if I wanted an explanation for my grade I would have to schedule a conference to come to her office. It's an online class. I took an online class because I can't come in. FML
Today, I went to my first class of the semester. After an hour of intense note writing, I realized I was in the wrong class. FML
Today, the grades for one of my courses were released. The class average was higher than that which the department allowed, so the professor had to scale everyone's marks down to meet the policy. I ended up failing because my class was too smart. FML
Today, my college is so intent on teaching us teamwork that we hardly ever get to do any assignment by ourselves. Even if we could do it better alone. Even if we spend half our time trying to find a slot where all the team members are free to meet. And of course it’s a different team for each task. FML

So exactly how hard is this to do? You have decided on a course of study, presumably. What's so hard about stating that you want to learn things to achieve your goals? Are you really that lazy?

Look up the course description and just reword that in your own words. Think of this as practice for when you are employed. Many professional workers have to do essentially what you are being asked to do. The only good thing about it is that an employer too lazy to write up your objectives is also too lazy to write up the results of that too. So you get to write up how well you performed those objectives too. A wise worker will keep that in mind.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to be a conniving bastard at work because higher management is full of idiots who wouldn't know quality work if it bit them in the nutsack. This is good practice. (I'm disabled now, but aaah, the memories...they are not fond ones.)

When working on a higher degree there are often prescribed courses of study. Would you want a guy doing your surgery or your taxes who chose only to take PE or English classes?
