Today, working night shift at a nursing home, I can tell the difference between the smell of different people's urine. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I realised I can tell which family member has just left the bathroom from the smell alone. FML
Today, I was working the night shift when a guy came in smelling like alcohol. He kept muttering his order, so I leaned over the register to hear him better. My ear now smells of vomit. FML
Pissed
Today, I woke up to slight memory of my boyfriend leaving for work an hour earlier than originally planned due to "excessive sweat" in my bed. When I removed my sheets and took in a deep whiff, my olfactory receptors instantly knew that his so called "sweat" was actually his urine. FML
Taking the piss
Today, I arrived at work early. I noticed the plants on the side of my classroom could use some water so I went out to do so. On the way, I found a beer can. Not wanting the kids to see it, I picked it up but some spilled on my dress. I quickly noticed a familiar smell. No, not beer. Urine. FML
Retail stinks
Today, a pipe leaked in the store I work at. I had to smell sordid waste for more than 8 hours. FML
Pissed
Today, working at a daycare centre, when packing up the kids' beds after sleep time, I slipped and landed in a puddle. Of urine. I had no spare pants. I had to wear them for the rest of my shift. FML
Today, during my shift as a vet nurse, I picked up a gorgeous cat for cuddles, only to discover it was covered with pee. And now I am too. I still have 4 hours of my shift. FML
How smelly is your piss?
Today, I peed myself in the dressing room after work when I sneezed. Someone else just walked in as I was trying to dry off my jeans with paper, and probably smelled that I had peed myself. FML
Today, I went to get blood and urine tests done before work. As I was attempting to aim into the cup, I lost balance and slipped. I ended up peeing on my sleeves and my pants. I was late for work and I smelled like pee. FML
Today, while working at a nursing home, I was alone in the station and figured I could sneak one out. It wound up being very loud, and I could hear the faint snickering of a patient in the next room. Every time he saw me for the rest of the day he would burst out laughing. FML

Someone has to help them right? Look at the bright side, you get to take care of the elderly and ensure their safety!

There are good jobs, bad jobs, jobs that suck, and then this. Don't get a job like this.

It's not just the urine. not the OP here but I work in one as well. These people normally only shower a few times a week. 3 max. That's sweat as well and with the elderly female atleast as a male CNA sometimes they won't even let you clean the peri area. Honestly I can relate to what the OP is saying, I don't know their particular smells but we know who is going to or at least I do. You can smell it at the door way most of the time, it's not that we don't do our job it's that alot of times they get angry cause they no longer have their independence to do this themselves, so it can smell putrid , op is not in "The wrong business" needs to be reported to a nurse so someone can check for stuff like a UTI.

That's pretty impressive. I can only imagine how much they appreciate you doing your job as well as you do though! Unfortunately times of realization like that do make for a saddening moment. Huggg

That's not a bad talent to have. the quicker you get to the urine the better it is for everyone.

Hard work, dedication, and a superior sense of smell.

I'm an RN and I work the evening shift. I can always tell when they served corn for lunch!
