Today, my wife yelled at me for being a bastard and not caring about her needs. I felt like an asshole and apologized for everything. It took me a few hours to realize I'd basically just apologized for unknowingly hanging the toilet paper the "wrong way" for her OCD. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my girlfriend confronted me for forgetting to take the trash out. At some point during the argument, I tried to calm her down, and the words "I should of" escaped my lips. She spent the next ten minutes calling me stupid and laughing at how my grammar goes to hell when I'm distressed. FML
Forget me not
Today, my wife is upset at me for having to remind her of her responsibilities. She dropped the ball several times in the past, and she hates that I remind her to prepare for upcoming deadlines. FML
Anger management issues, sir?
Today, I yelled at my girlfriend because I thought she'd thrown away an important form I needed to fill out. I found it a few minutes later, just stuck to the back of another piece of paper. After apologizing for getting mad, all she said was, "I'm used to it." FML
Today, my wife and I got into an argument. She ran out, yelling. Later, at work, I felt guilty, so I picked up some flowers and a card. When I presented them to her, she looked puzzled. I made the mistake of reminding her about our argument. She is now mad at me, again. FML
Law and order
Today, I washed all the dishes and cups from the family dinner last night and put them away. When my wife saw, she had a mini OCD breakdown and yelled at me because the cups weren't lined up with each other with the handles aligned and the flower pictures facing out left. FML
Well played, you mutt
Today, I cleaned up my dog's crap after my wife asked me. Five minutes later she yelled at me for being lazy as she slammed the door leaving for work. My dog had shat in the exact same spot, apparently to make me look stupid. FML
Never enough
Today, I made the mistake of being competent at chores, so according to my wife I’m trying to show her up, because I don’t appreciate her contribution to the household, and I secretly think she’s useless, blah blah. I had a day off so I cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. Lock me up, I’m guilty. FML
Home sweet home
Today, my wife yelled at me for putting away her rain coat and two sweaters that were hanging on the back of chairs. Because, “I was about to do that!” My mistake. They had only been there for a week. Ah, marital bliss. FML
Riled up
Today, my wife blamed me for the washing machine breaking. When I told her it wasn’t me because I haven’t used it this week, she immediately changed direction and started blaming me for not doing enough around the house, which is utter bullshit. I know I do my share, I think she just wanted to fight. FML
Don't rock the boat
Today, my wife put petrol in my diesel car and ruined the engine, I got a bit upset, but I wasn’t screaming or yelling or anything, but she flew completely off the handle at me at how I was putting all the blame on her and it wasn’t fair. I ended up apologising to her for her mistake. FML

Put the money in her wallet facing different directions. It's hilarious to watch .

for everyone saying "she has more problems than OCD" thats not even thinking about the wife. OCD is really hard, and its difficult once you notice something thats "wrong" to ignore it. if they talk about it and they both understand that A) the husband isnt doing it on purpose and B) OP realizes its OCD and she doesnt need to be upset at her husband, then everything should be okay. just takes patience and practice

Hanging the toilet paper where it rolls against the wall can be annoying when you can't grab it...

Sorry OP ?
orbit 22
NO sorry doesn't cut it. Op needs to learn that toilet paper needs to go over not under.

Risk getting caught in your wife's purse? No thank you

Then again, maybe you do and don't realize it

NO. Purposely inducing distress and anxiety in someone with an anxiety disorder is NOT in any way funny. Would you take an oxygen tank off a lung cancer patient who struggles to breathe without it, tip a paralysed person out of a wheelchair and pull it out of reach, or steal a blind persons seeing eye dog, and laugh watching them panic? Would you find watching someone else doing any of those things to someone amusing, or would you be shocked, angry and disgusted? Mental illness/disability is just as valid as physical illness/disability, and sufferers deserve the same respect and to be treated with compassion. Only a cruel, inhumane, heartless asshole would deliberately antagonise a medical condition for their own entertainment.
devildog562 33
Actually I would take oxygen off a patient when they needed it and no one else would do it . I've seen many people suffer beyond their peace of mind and to die in peace . I don't wish for it but by all means stand by this decision. Oh and it's a joke lighten up a little , promise you'll live a little longer.

calm down mskatieface, you'll go grey. There's a difference between watching someone be momentarily annoyed about something minor like that, and toppling someone in a wheelchair over
howsthisforaname 34
There is no difference and it is not an annoyance. Have you ever had an infected tooth? Imagine having that pain in your skull because a floor tile has been placed out of sequence or a tin of beans is upside down on the shelf. That's what OCD is like. There are ways to manage it but they all involve learning to accept that things outside of your "safe zone" are not within your control and training your self to be able to cope. In their own home, in a place where they should be able to feel safe, people with OCD need to have things a certain way. Imagine if you came home to find that someone had broken in, trashed your house and spray painted threats on your walls. The emotional reaction that would cause you is the same emotional reaction that "pranks" have on someone with OCD.

Thank. you. to the person that explained how it's just like a physical disability. @ #60

Agree OCD isn't a minor annoyance it's a serious medical condition that people shouldn't make light of.

People can be very upset with their OCD needs
sicksadworld1317 30
Yes we can. That said, you should have ended your sentence properly with a period, you f*cking douchenozzle ASSHAT! Wait, am I . . . overreacting or something? (Just kidding with the name calling. I saw the opportunity and had to take it :D.)

Do you want OP to get divorced or something?

Or move everything three inches to the left.

It's a great idea but the most overplayed idea out there. don't move the furniture.

I don't know why so many people find it amusing to exploit someone's OCD. It isn't funny to them.
Ichiya 29
The biggest issue people with ocd have is others coddling them. Push them to accept that things can be done differently. Small things at first. Encourage them to change one habit each week, month or year depending on the severity.
Skyebright8 5
Unless your a trained psychiatrist I wouldn't try to provide your own therapy to someone with a mental illness, you could just make it much worse
Ichiya 29
Psychology is guess work but that is besides the point I wasn't calling for giving them therapy I was saying encourage them to work on overcoming it. Its as easy as making them work with a psychiatrist or talking them through a breakdown and helping them see whatever it is isn't a big deal.

I'm sorry you're in that situation, but you completely deserve it for marrying her. You knew what you were getting into.
Mauskau 36
Nope, I don't think that's the answer you're looking for. A lot of people start showing their true colours after they're feeling very comfortable, ie. after marriage. They may not have lived together before they were married, so OP may not have known.
LexiDaBae 17
Besides, if he truly loves her he should be able to look past issues like this.
Arwen_Evenstar 37
People can, sometimes, develop illnesses later on, physical or mental. Terrifying news I know. So she may not have had it when they married.
ComoEsJuan 24
That shit HAS to go over the top.

One time, at summer camp, I would set the tables properly. But then my friends found out that it really bugged me when something was offset, so like clockwork, when something was moved just slightly, I would come over and fix it. They would get my attention, make eye contact with me, and slowly push something out of place, then they would watch me come over and move it back. I tried to ignore it, but it bugged me too much. And that's when I learned that you should never let people know what can get a reaction out of you. They will sit there for an hour, moving things and watching you move them all back.
badluckalex 23
your friends are cuntnuggets
Just_A_Tree 20
I'd actually say that they were douchcanoes, since there were about five of them doing this. Cuntnuggets come in boxes of ten at McDonald's, and since it's McDonald's it can include slightly more or less than ten cuntnuggets.

And if the wife doesn't like how how op hung the tp then she can just switch it. She needs to learn how to deal with her anxiety properly instead of blowing up at her husband over something so little. Although big to her it's really not a big deal in the long run.
