A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my sister-in-law recently spend the night to hangout with my 7 year-old. She kept some of her clothes in his dresser. While doing laundry and sorting out clothes that no longer fit him, I found a pair of her shit-stained underwear shoved in the back of one of the drawers. She's in her 40's and this isn't the first occurrence. FML
Today, I noticed some of my things in my slob of a roommate's piles of clothes. I found six pairs of my underwear that had gone missing. Turns out she hasn't done laundry recently so my underwear drawer was her own personal Victoria's Secret. I hadn't even worn a pair yet. All six were stained. FML
Today, when I visited my daughter's apartment that she moved into about 3 months ago, I found out that she buys new underwear every time she runs out instead of washing her dirty ones. Her dirty ones have their own special hamper. FML
Today, I realised half my underpants were missing. In related news, my slob of a housemate hasn't washed hers in several weeks, and has been stealing mine. FML
Today, I returned a friend's jacket after borrowing it. I made sure to wash it and keep it clean. When he went to put it on, a pair of my granny panties fell out of the sleeve. FML
Today, I ran out of clean underwear and uncovered the pile of lingerie in the back of the drawer, none of which had been worn in over a year. Thanks, laundry day, for reminding me of how single I am. FML
Today, I found out that my flatmate wears my underwear. FML
Today, and for weeks now, I was sure my underwear was going missing. I found out why. My husband's brother has been stealing them whenever he visits, presumably to masturbate with. I literally caught him shoving an unwashed pair into his pocket he'd stolen from my laundry pile. Creep. FML
Today, after sex with my girlfriend, I thought it would be sexy to wear her underwear until we saw each other again. I found a pair in her bathroom, but they definitely weren't her sexy ones. Her mom walked in on me to collect the laundry and screeched, "What are you doing with my panties!" FML
Today, my sister surprised me by cleaning my room and doing my laundry. She found my journal, condoms and vibrator and decided to share her findings with my family. Oh yes... she also shrunk half my wardrobe. FML

Well, if you wash them hot enough, all germs should be dead, so it's not much of an issue with regular cotton panties. Delicate lingerie is harder to get hygienic again.

If worn by a healthy woman without infections, panties often do not have visible stains on them (on most days) - of course, not all women are so lucky, but it occurs. And yes, women who have problems usually wear panty liners.

I'm a healthy woman without any infections and I do have some vaginal discharge. It's perfectly normal and serves a sort of cleansing function by removing dead cells and regulating the ******'s pH. Though amounts may vary, ALL women produce those secretions, and they will end up in their panties.

Yes - but they are not always "visible" if you do not look closely. Depends on the colour of the panties, of course, but I don't think anyone would start closely inspecting panties they take from closet. As I said, it depends - but I can completely see OP not noticing. Especially as many people are sleepy when they get dressed in the morning.
