Today, my parents told me that I had been accepted into my top two colleges, but they didn't show me the letters because they were worried that if they spent money on tuition, they wouldn't be able to keep BOTH of their brand new Mercedes. FML

jfanous tells us more.

haha, yeah i'm the OP. didn't know you need an account to comment...but I just wanted to clear up something. I didn't want my parents to pay, a simple "you got in" would have been nice. I was planning on doing ROTC and letting Uncle Sam handle my tuition.

That is so selfish. Take a Mercedes and just go.

I can't begin understand how a parent could put something like that above their own child's future, let alone lie about it.

FYL OP. I would be outraged about them not even showing me the letters. Screw it if they won't pay, but not even letting you know? Dirty.

Uhhh why apply for college if your joining the military? Usually you join, get tuition assistance, use that while your in, then get out and pull your post 911, GI Bill, and vocational rehabilitation to finish your degree. Unless your reservist... If your a reservist you won't get your college paid for until you finish paying your GI Bill. Also, y'all should know GI Bill gets you started with college 36 months of schooling. Your going to need financial aide any way you look at it.

oops meant to reply to #2 not #1. But yeah #2's comment is grand theft: auto (and not that stupid game)

Why did you guys thumbs him down? Oh I forgot the American public doesn't believe in working to get things.
