Today, my mother sent off a handmade Christmas wreath I made for my 70-year-old grandmother. It wasn't until after it was sent that we realized the box it was packed in was originally for adult diapers. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my mom got drunk and decided to unwrap all my Christmas gifts and throw them at the wall. Ho, ho, ho. FML
Today, I received the 'special' present my mother had sent me for my 21st birthday. I opened the box and saw that my mother had picked out, accessorized and shipped to me, in college, a doll. FML
Today, I finally got around to cleaning out my mother's things after her passing. In the process I found a fancy box. What did it contain? A collection of crack pipes. FML
Today, my mother-in-law purchased matching Christmas presents for myself and my sister-in-law to open together in front of everyone. Guess who are now the proud owners of matching metal tampon cases. FML
Thanks, I think?
Today, I received a package at work. Thinking it was something I ordered, I opened it in front of my coworkers. It was a gift from my grandmother: a giant pink, “I Love My Grandson” T-shirt. The worst part? They insisted I put it on and take a picture to send to her. FML
Today, my extended family came over for Christmas. I forgot to get a present for my extremely sensitive aunt. I took a gift from my re-gift pile and wrapped it quickly. Little did I remember that it was the same gift she gave me last year. She noticed. FML
Old dog, new tricks
Today, for my mom's birthday, I couldn't figure out what to get her, so I just took some of her jewelry, wrapped it up, and re-gifted it. She recognized it instantly. FML
Thanks but no thanks
Today, I received three big boxes from my mother in law, containing expensive cookware. I was puzzled, because I know that she hates me. Turns out she mailed them to us by mistake. Not only did she not get us anything, but I now have to pay to ship the boxes to her neighbor. FML
Today, my mom sent me beautiful candlesticks along with some half burned candles. I thanked her. She told me the candlesticks were a wedding gift to my grandmother 85 years ago. Then she said the candles were used at my grandma's wedding. I had already lit them. FML
Alexa, play "Just Like Christmas" by Low
Today, I put Christmas wrapping on old books and things I already own, because I realized that it's the only way I'll have anything under the tree this year. FML

You're going to disappoint her so much, she was really looking forward to some new diapers. Maybe she'll try wearing the wreath.

Maybe granny has a sense of humor! And if not, well...you can always hope she'll forget about it after a while.

I think that might say more about your household than about her...

SO? Grandmas love us! It's homemade. Go you. The box will be funny... unless, you know- she suffers from incontinence. Either way, It will still be a pleasent when she opens it.

("Depends" is a diaper brand.)

Hopefully your grandmother's got a sense of humour and you can pass it off as a joke

That's what I was thinking. I know I would get a good laugh out of this if it happened to me once I'm 70.

If I had sent that to my grandma she would have laughed, asked me if I was deranged, then laugh again. I miss my grandma :( she passed away a year ago at 75

OP here. My mother will be so tickled to see this anecdote on this site. I myself am tickled by some of your comments. :) To those who are wondering, my grandmother isn't incontinent (as far as I know); she's just really old. One wouldn't know that if one were to look at her; she looks twenty years younger than she really is. And yes, she does have a sense of humour like that where she can laugh at herself. As for the box, #3 is correct to some extent, though not in the way they think; my mother works for an elder care facility where they take care of dementia patients. I'm not sure how exactly, but I believe that is where she got the box from. I will post again to let you all know if my grandmother likes the wreath I made. A good deal of chocolate had to be hot-glued in the middle of it.

Won't the chocolate melt in the heat when it's being stored in between sessions?

The whole point of the wreath is that you can eat the chocolate while being decorative at the same time. It's one of those Facebook things my mother decided we should try doing.

Glad to hear she has a sense of humor. My grandmother, who passed away 6 years ago, would have laughed so hard and shared the story every year. This will be a story to tell for generations. :)
