Today, my mom cleaned out my bank account, saying my "no-good dad" owes her child support and that she'll get it one way or another. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Narcissistic parents FTW
Today, I told my mom I wasn't doing very good mentally and I was looking for some support. She decided to remind me of all of the things I still haven't paid her back for. I'm now an unpaid loan, not her daughter. FML
Today, I found out my mom took around $2,500 from my savings account to pay off my sister's college tuition. She recently flunked out of her studies and won't be returning to college anyway. FML
Today, I found out that my mom bet my dad $100 that she could pay my boyfriend ten bucks to break up with me. She is now $90 richer. FML
Remember the promise you made
Today, my mom decided to go against every promise she's made to everyone once again and left us in financial ruin. How? She took advantage of my kindness, and didn't pay any of the money she owes me for driving my car, and for so much more. I'm more than $2,000 in debt now. FML
Today, I found out that my dad has been trying to take money out of my savings account to pay for divorce fees and a hammock. FML
Addict
Today, my mother asked me if she could borrow $200. Being the lovely daughter I am, I gave her my bank card to withdraw it herself. She gambled it away and maxed my bank account out. I had $1500 saved. FML
Today, my dad asked to borrow some money off me, so I said okay. Later on, he told me he'll be using it to help divorce my mom. I pretty much just helped pay for my parents' divorce. FML
Ill gotten gains suspected
Today, my nosy mom opened my mail and saw how much I have in my account. She confiscated my debit card because she’s convinced no one could save that much working part time at Burger King and is demanding I confess where so much money came from. I'm moving out. Fuck her. FML
It's the final countdown
Today, I found out my mom has notebooks with lists of everything she has bought for me ever since I was born. Apparently she is going to make me pay her back for all the money she spent on me once I'm an adult. FML
Today, my dad had something to tell me. He'd cleaned out my bank account to pay off 38,000 dollars worth of gambling debt. My wedding is in 5 months. FML

I'm pretty sure she's not allowed to do that, talk to a lawyer OP

That money is supposed to go to YOU, or at least to taking care of you. This makes me so mad..

I'll probably get thumbed down for my opinion on this. But, as a single mom, with a currently dead-beat ex husband and two kids, I have on occasion taken money from my kids to cover expenses when the money I make, and my savings, don't cover everything. Everyone here is saying that child support is supposed to be spent on the children. Yes, it is. But do you realize that a mortgage payment, groceries, heating, water, electricity, cable and Internet bills, etc. ARE partially FOR the KIDS? Just because it's not spent on specific items for the kids, like clothes, school supplies, or activities, doesn't mean that it's not helping to support them.

That's true. I consider that to be helping care for a child. My mom uses the money when she doesn't have enough from her paycheck to cover things. This isn't what I'm getting from the FML, though. To me, it seems like the mother selfishly took op's money because she wanted money for herself. There are women who use child support to get and do stuff they want, whether it helps the child or just themselves.

I see a few major differences with the FML and you: 1) I assume you asked for it, not just take it. 2) I assume you didn't 'clean them out' and took everything they got, but just enough for what you needed.

I don't see why you would get thumbed down for this, as you are completely correct in your statement. There is however a difference in asking for a loan and cleaning someone out.

Well, my kids are 7 and 9. And when my ex was $12k behind on payments, and they had a few thousand in their account, and I was in debt up to my ears because of no child support, I took it, and they're not likely to get it back, but we have a roof over our heads, which I view as more important. But you're right, I don't spend it on myself (judging by my outdated wardrobe, and hair that hasn't seen a salon in years), like a lot of single mothers do.

Sounds like she's the one who's "no good." :/

Wrong way to handle the situation but if money is tight maybe you should offer to help a little she is spending a lot of money keeping you clothed and fed. I was in a similar situation with a dead beat dad and I decided to help out without being asked to but because I saw a need.

That's really rude of you to say. You don't know that money is tight, you just know that Op's mom took his money. Even if his mom makes enough to support him on her own, his dad is still obligated to pay child support. And if money IS tight, his mom might have hidden that from Op.

that doesn't even make sense

Pretty sure that's illegal

I would be extremely pissed off and let her know that I would be hiring a lawyer to get every single dime that she took from me, plus more.

That's why you have your account only accessible by yourself...never joint it and keep your account number and checks under lock and key

File a police report. Just because she's your mom doesn't mean she can take your hard earned money. If she did that, She doesn't really love you, so feel no remorse as you press charges. Get your money back

It depends if she's on the account then unfortunately she can withdraw it. If she's not you can dispute it with your bank. Good luck!

No offense, but I don't really get how she is "supporting" you by taking your money. If I was in your situation I would seriously confront her about that
