Today, my boyfriend and I had band practice for our duo. I've been playing cello for almost a year and wanted to incorporate it. He picked it up for pretty much the first time and sounded surprisingly good. I was excited until I realized he sounded better than me. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I learned that my boyfriend is a better pole dancer than I am, despite daily practice. This was his first time trying it. FML
Today, my boyfriend of two years, who is a fabulous guitarist and singer, told me he wrote me a song. I was so excited. Turns out it was a break up song. FML
Today, my boyfriend finally played the new guitar I bought to replace the one he broke. He used a $1000 guitar to play me a moving song about my butt. FML
Today, after practicing a song for my girlfriend on guitar all day, I called her over to my house to show it to her. After a long speech about how "this is for you," I played for about 3 seconds before I broke a string, which slapped her in her face. FML
Today, I had a music duet in front of a crowd and 3 judges. I play tuba and my partner plays the saxophone. He burst out laughing in the middle of it because one note that I played sounded like a fart. FML
Noise annoys
Today, I told my boyfriend he is good at singing. Now he won't stop. FML
Today, my girlfriend and I were in my basement. I play drums and guitar very well. My girlfriend bet me $50 that she could play better than me. I made the bet, but what I didn't know was that she had been taking both drum and guitar lessons since she was 5. I just lost $50. FML
Feeling a light 4 on this one
Today, I started recording my piano exam pieces to submit, and I was proud at my interpretation that I spent time trying to make it sound good. That was until my tutor walked in and said I had "shit rhythm and ass intonation." My mom was there. FML
Moment of truth
Today, I was with my girlfriend and she was making me listen to one of her recordings for chorus. As I was listening to it, a solo came on, and i turned to her and said, "This is the worst fucking solo I've ever heard in my life." Little did I know, it was her solo. FML
Today, being a music student, a professional orchestra performed a symphony that I wrote and dedicated to my girlfriend. It took months to compose and it the first and only time it was ever going to be played. My girlfriend forgot to come. FML

Eh, so he has a natural talent. Nothing to be jealous about.

I have a friend like that who can pick up pretty much any instrument and play it well in short order. There are people who just have that talent. You may find, as I did relative to musical instruments, that your talent lies elsewhere. That doesn't mean I don't have fun playing a few chords on my guitar now and then, but I've resigned myself to the fact that I won't be a rock star any time soon.

It's literally in some people's genetics everyone in my family but me can take any instrument even if they've never touched it and play it well almost instantly 😒 it sucks I can barely play the harmonica my brother on the other hand once sat down to a harpsichord and in 10mins sounded better than the teacher he had never even seen one before 🙄

You're in good company with this situation: Reporter: "Is Ringo the best drummer in the world?" Paul McCartney: "Ringo isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles!" So just enjoy yourself.

Hi all, OP here! Excited I finally got an fml published :) To clarify- to all you judging, no, I am not jealous at all, I just thought it would make a good fml. I am actually very proud of his musical talents! I just thought this situation was funny, and it's always good to be able to laugh at yourself! I'm not bad on the cello, he just has over 15 years of music school under his belt + natural talent and can play over 16 instruments quite well, and almost anything he picks up he plays decently as soon as he figures out how it works (which is like 5 seconds). I fully support him and love him, and am thankful of these skills especially seeing as we are a duo. My forte is voice and a bit of guitar (so music IS a thing for me), and I wanted to learn the cello since I love it. And I realize 1 year isn't much at all to be playing ;) Thanks to all who were supportive!
