Today, my 12-year-old daughter glued her left eyelid shut with fake eyelash glue. After spending 4 hours in the ER, I asked her why she did it. "I wanted to get Blake to notice me," she said. Blake is our neighbor's convict son. FML
AnnoyedSister tells us more.
Hi everybody! OC here. I guess I didn't put enough details in my FML as I could: So I'll tell you all the WHOLE story. Blake is 17 years old. Yes he is a convict currently on parol. I cannot remember exactly WHAT he did, but I believe it was either Breaking and Entering or he stole a car. I'm not positively sure. Also: I could not get off the eyelash glue with warm water or make up remover because her eyelashes were going inward towards her eye and frankly, my daughter wouldn't stay still long enough for me to even try. To all the commenters who said "Keep an eye on your daughter." Nice pun. But she is twelve years old so I'm pretty sure even if I tried to pay attention she'd say something along the lines of "Go away mom!" Or "What do you want?!" So yeah. Blake also does NOT flirt with my daughter (thank goodness) and they've only met once, when they moved in. The funny thing is, he can't even get her name right. Her name is Violet, but he insists on calling her Veronica. So, no marriage plans yet! Yay!

You should tell her that the boys that will only notice her for her looks aren't the kind of boys she should be after.

Well... This is awkward.

I see a pole in her future...

Good news. No need to use those removers on his man candy.

If he only met her once and insists on calling her Veronica, how would he even remember what her name would be or insist on calling her that. I'm confused
AnnoyedSister 7
They only have met once, but his mother and I do speak on occasions. His mother always jokes with me that whenever she brings up my daughter, he answers "Oh, Veronica?" So that's where I got it from.

It's probably a good thing, because then even if she's still into him, he's not so it won't happen (probably)

I was expecting Blake to be older than your daughter
MrsDruidess 23
OP, even if she tells you to piss off, you still have to look and ask after her, she has to know someone is and that she needs to watch what she does. After all, she either needs to be smart enough not to make bad choices or at least smart enough to hide them. I am a big believer in if she can pull it off, maybe she deserves to do it, cause it takes smarts. Now that isn't universal but for the most part it fits.
darcislove 18
your daughter needs a new love interest. perhaps a puppy.

Isn't it part of a twelve year old girl's life to fall in love with much older - and very wrong - people though?
doglover100 29
Tell her he's not worth it if he can't remember her name.
fantasyworld 39
Why do girls go after guys who don't bother to learn their name?
ndnpride88 25
To comment number 133 "If she could pull it off she deserves it?"..... Seriously? That makes her smart? She'd be smarter to know what's right and wrong and not do the wrong.
bapbap_fml 15
The eye lash gluing likely happened in the bathroom. She can't exactly keep an eye on her there. Is OP supposed to not let her 12 year old alone in the bathroom..?
missambitious 21
@131 Re-read the FML post. Blake IS older than OP's daughter.

He is though...

Yes!! Lol don't ALL 12 y.o's do that?? lol

Also, Violet (my VERY-much in trouble daughter) and I had a long mommy-daughter talk. Her father and I divorced a few years back so I thought possibly it was 'daddy' issues, I wasn't sure. But she told me stately that she had seen the errors of her ways and will not be talking about Blake or think of him that way anymore. But as you all know, actions speak louder than words!
slooby_fml 25
Violet reminds me of Lucy Sketch when she was obsessed with Maxxie
KamiyaHaine 18
Uh-oh! That's the start of the boy crazy years! Haha! If it's daddy issues, there isn't much you can do about it. Just try to make sure that she has a healthy self worth so that she doesn't stay with boys who aren't worth her time (abusive, controlling, psychotic) because she is definitely going to have boyfriends when she gets the chance. I would know. My best friends and I have been there too. LOL
RoseBlack123 37
Definitely make sure she keeps her word! She may just be giving you a false sense of security
beatlegirl27 20
She's 12 so I don't blame her for being immature.
tylercarolinex 21
I agree with #136, whys she im trouble for fancying a boy and trying to feel pretty?
HopeDawn 13
It's not as simple as "fancying a boy." For one, the mother doesn't approve, and there is definitely something to be said for a mother's intuition. Second, yes; she is twelve, and therefore immature. You can't just assume that kids will naturally just "figure it out." Kids should be taught, so that way they can learn not stay at maturity level of a three-year-old, five-year-old, twelve-year-old, etc.

OP, The best thing you can do as a single mommy to a teenage girl is show her and teach her that she is valuable and whole as an individual, independent person. I wish my mom had taught me that.
nicole74 13
I think violet may be in trouble because she had to take her to the emergency room for gliding her eye shut. My mom would be pissed at me doing something like that. I don't think she is mad because of Blake. I'm sure she is worried because he is an ex convict, but seems to have that part under control.
iraisadumbass 14
154, She doesn't need her mother's approval to have a crush on someone. It is HER life and nobody decides who they fall in love with or get a crush on, it just happens. My mother didn't approve of every crush I had, but she understood that whoever I end up with will be my choice because it is MY life and MY future.

oh. well cant do anything bout love
wysteria14 17
12 year old infatuation is not anywhere close to what love is
doodlebug13 15
At #148. How can you be so close minded?? We all fall in love. Multiple times. We have no control over it, it's something that just happens.

Wait, FAKE eyelash glue?!
yerawizardlizzy 27
Glue for false eyelashes...

Blake, this is your parole officer. Don't even be looking at Valerie...or Veronica ...or whatever her name is.

Blake was banned

Shouldn't she be worried about play dates instead of making herself more noticeable :/
zombienationxo 9
Not in this day and age, besides 12 years old is the awkward stage in life. I'm sure you were the exact same way.
Jabberwockyy 13
Shit when I was 12 I could barely fathom an actual relationship with a girl. I spent most my time with friends goofing off like normal 12 year olds.
kmaheynoway 25
Well, to clear things up, I happen to be a twelve year old. So, with that out of the way, twelve year olds feel the need to act like a teenager, hence the term 'tweenager.' So, often times we will convince our selves we are 'in love' etc. This is probably what OPs daughter was feeling. So no, in this age twelve year olds are a lot different then they used to be.
Soloman212 28
Might want to read the terms of agreement buddy.
pjsr 33
That's exactly what we thought when we were 12, #140.

i liked girls at 12 but had no clue how to deal with them....i found them to be better friends than potential lovers
