Today, I went to work at a hotel. One of the guests decided to play the piano in the lobby. He's deaf. Unfortunately, I'm not. FML

Today, a deaf customer came to my work. In an attempt to connect with him I introduced myself in sign language. He just rolled his eyes and pointed at my name tag. FML
Today, I was at a local talent show and during a piano performance I had to go to the bathroom. I sang along in the bathroom but was unaware how loud I was until I walked out and everyone started applauding me while the pianist was still playing. FML
Today, after I'd told this girl I’m seeing that I play piano to impress her, it turns out her father is a pianist and has a grand piano in their house. Tonight, I’m supposed to go to her place to play her my "favorite piece." FML
Today, I had lunch with some important potential clients at a fancy restaurant. I really wanted to make a good impression. When the piano music stopped, I started clapping while looking around for the pianist. Apparently, it was a CD. FML
Today, I woke up with laryngitis. I just got hired as a waitress. Tomorrow is opening day, the restaurant plays loud music and I can't speak any louder than a whisper. FML
Today, I was at work as a musician, sitting on a piano bench. Suddenly, I found myself at eye-level with the piano, dumped on the floor by the broken bench, with my legs splayed out. I felt like I picked the wrong day to wear a skirt to work - but the audience members all disagreed. FML
Today, I was unloading things into a hotel. As I went to get a bag out in the hallway, the room door closed and I had no key. When I knocked and asked my family to let me back in, no one answered. The doors are clearly not soundproof. I could hear them debating whether or not to let me back in. FML
Today, I went to work as a home health-aid, and found out that my client turns his hearing aid off on purpose because he can't stand my voice. FML
Today, I was playing piano for a wedding rehearsal. Bored, I decided to pass the time playing through a book of music I found in the piano bench. Some time later the bride turned to me and screamed at me to stop. I had turned the page and had begun to play "Let's Call The Whole Thing Off." FML
Today, at my job as a hotel housekeeper, I accidentally entered the room of someone who hadn't left yet. To my horror, the man inside was having a massive heart attack. I just found out he passed away, despite immediate medical intervention. FML

true, but Beethoven became deaf after years of playing anyway and had already mastered the piano. He was past the point of needing to hear the notes.

I believe he started going deaf when he was 30 and was completely deaf the last decade of his life. That many of his best pieces were composed during that period is a testament to his brilliance.

Yeah.... To me, anybody singing off key, playing an instrument harshly is really is painful for me to listen to. It's not my choice to like or dislike whatever the other person is doing. It is my sense of tone that kills me to listen to it. That is why you will never catch me at a karaoke bar or a talent show. For an example it'd be like a person with OCD and there was a deck of cards scattered on the ground. They couldn't ignore it and had to straighten it up. Hope this helped understand my comment.

Gee OP. get off your high horse. If he is deaf, he must have felt the music somehow, maybe through the vibration of the instrument. It's not everyone who can access a piano for free. Give him a break.

Beethoven had to remove the legs from his piano and sit on the floor in order to feel the vibrations from the instrument.
