Today, I was going to a big concert at my university. I paid around a hundred twenty bucks for my ticket. Outside the venue, people were handing out the tickets. For free. FML

Today, I went to a great concert. Against all odds, I got to meet the band. All I had for them to autograph was a flyer protesting their concert that was given to me on the way in. FML
Today, I was telling my co-workers about how I'd gotten tickets to a concert in a few days. My boss overheard. Later, he told me I now have to work on the night of the concert. However, he was kind enough to offer to buy the tickets off me for half of what I'd paid for them. FML
Today, I went to a concert. One of my favorite bands was performing, and I'd had the ticket for seven months, with a great seat for the show. It was all going perfectly, that is until a guy twice my height sat in front of me. FML
Today, I was working a concert ticket booth. A lady gave me her ticket, I punched it, and told her to enjoy the show. She asked for the “hotel.” Apparently, she thought that the concert ticket cost included a hotel stay, since she traveled from out of state. She cussed me out and had to be escorted out. FML
Today, I walked into a concert that I've been waiting months for. Immediately after passing through the doors, I was accused of sneaking in and thrown out. They wouldn't even look at my ticket, or the hand stamp they'd given me. FML
Today, it was the concert of my life. I had bought tickets the minute they went on sale, and I'd anxiously waited until the concert date. Thirty minutes before the show, my friend got so drunk that we weren't allowed in, and I was stuck babysitting her all night in the hotel, completely missing the show. FML
Today, to be kind, I gave away my tickets for an electronic music event I could no longer attend to a Facebook stranger. Later, they told me they were refused at the door. Turns out the pdf I'd received from the ticketing system contained some placeholder values and invalid QR data. And this happened on April 1st. FML
Today, I remembered that the concert I bought tickets for over a month in advance was yesterday. FML
Today, I was going to meet my friend at a concert. I got there before her, so I went in to check out the local bands that were playing before the headliner. When she got there, I went just outside the building to give her a ticket. The security guards wouldn't let me back in. She went in anyway. FML
Today, I was at a concert. It was dark and everyone was singing and waving their lit-up phones in the air. I was having a great time, until someone snatched my £200 phone out of my hand. FML

FYL; you didn't know people would be handing out tickets for free, better safe than sorry :) Plus, they could have been counterfit tickets, so you did the right thing buying the ticket anyway.

The OP doesn't mention how the seating arrangement works. Maybe the free tickets are for really shitty seats like in the rafters. Maybe they're general admission tickets, meaning you're standing in a crowd, which actually sucks. Maybe the seat the OP paid for is a good seat. Not enough info here.

If that's how much you were willing to pay then that's how much it was worth for you. Just because other people got it for free doesn't mean that you weren't willing to pay that much. You obviously thought it was worth the cost. For the people that got it for free, they were lucky. It happens, but that doesn't make any difference to your situation. If they WEREN'T getting in for free, your situation would still be exactly the same. There's a parable in the bible about this where a vineyard owner paid the exact same amount of money for everyone who worked in that vineyard that day, even though some worked for an entire day and some worked for one hour. The people who worked for the entire day agreed to get paid a day's wages at the beginning, but when the people who got paid a day's wages for only an hour's work, they started to think that maybe they would get more. When they got paid exactly what they agreed, they got angry. But they were only angry at the fortune of the others, which had nothing to do with them. They weren't cheated, they had agreed before they started working that they would get paid, it was only because other people were fortunate that they got angry. You shouldn't get upset just because other people were lucky. You weren't cheated, you paid as much as you thought was fair. I don't normally start quoting the bible but the scenario fit perfectly into the parable.
