Today, I spent a lot of money buying a birthday gift for a close friend, only to find out I'm not even invited to the party. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Some BFF…
Today, I found out that my best friend was having a birthday party and I wasn't invited. I had just finished planning a surprise party for her. FML
Classic blunder
Today, I found out my best friend was having a birthday party and I wasn't invited, so I asked her why. She replied, "What birthday party?" It was a surprise birthday party. FML
Today, I was uninvited from my own birthday party. FML
She noped out of that one
Today, I'd planned a surprise party for my best friend's birthday. However, she apparently found out about it and told me at the last minute she couldn't make it, probably to avoid being the center of attention. I'd already invited all of our mutual friends, so I had to awkwardly cancel the party. FML
Today, I found out my best friend had 3 birthday parties for herself over the weekend. I wasn't invited to any of them. When I asked her why, she said I "didn't fit in" to any of the groups that were at the parties. All my other friends were invited. FML
Thanks guys
Today, it was my co-worker's birthday but she told me not to mention it. Feeling bad for her, I went out to buy her a card, a present, and even a small cake. It turns out that there was actually a party during our lunch break, and I was the only one in our office not invited. FML
Plans
Today, a close friend told me she had no plans for her birthday. I found out she was lying when I had to serve her and nine other mutual friends dinner at the restaurant I work at. I don't know what's worse, the fact that I wasn't invited or that none of them even remembered that I worked there. FML
Where am I?
Today, I thought I was going to a friend’s birthday party. Turns out, it was a surprise party for someone else... and I was the surprise. Everyone shouted “Surprise!” and I realized I wasn’t invited. I awkwardly ate a cupcake and left. FML
Surprise!
Today, after I spent months assisting my 'work bestie' with planning/arranging her "Surprise!" wedding, Surprise! I wasn't invited. FML
Today, my friends decided to throw a going away party because I'm moving. It would have been great if I had actually been invited. FML

Why don't you just ask about the party? Worst case schenario, they secretly hate you and no one wants to be around you. Best case, they just thought you would come. But instead of acting like it doesn't bother you, just mention and ask why you aren't invited. See what happens.

It's possible they just forgot, too. When planning for an event, it's easy to overlook things. My best friend forgot to invite me to her baby shower for her first kid, both because she was busy and it skipped her mind, and because she doesn't have the best memory to begin with.

But if, and this is just my thoughts on your comment #55, but if she's your best friend, then why was your name NOT among the first names to pop into her head when it came to inviting people? Just saying.... I remember I had a best friend years ago, and he was the FIRST name that came to mind, when it came to invitations to ANYTHING.

Your thoughts are of no concern to me because you know neither me nor my friend. I appreciate the concern, but it's not your place to judge my friendships.

Me and my buddies never buy presents for each other, but on the other hand we also don't not invite each other to hand out on birthdays either.

I don't think close friend applies...

take it back and exchange it for something YOU want!

I'd say that's me but I don't have friends to ignore me and uninvite me from stuff ?

Give them the gift anyway. There's no sense being childish about it. You don't have to go to a party to be a good friend.

How is it being childish to withhold a gift that was meant for a friend who was apparently such a good friend that they didn't even think to invite OP to their party in the first place? I say to H-E-double hockey sticks with that "friend"! OP should return the gift, and use the money on themselves. At least you know it's getting put to good use!

Can you please stop replying to every comment I make? This is the third one and it's starting to get creepy.

Happy early birthday OP!

Don't be too upset OP, my bestie regularly doesn't invite me to her parties. She knows I hate larger groups of people (I have anxiety). So her and I do something together beforehand or on another day. Invite them to do something another time and you can give them the gift then.
