Today, I put on my hazard lights, pulled over to the side of the road, and stopped traffic on a busy road to rescue a black cat that had been hit by a car. With everyone watching, I got a towel and slowly approached the cat. It was a garbage bag. FML

Yes. Stopping the traffic is dangerous and should only be done in an emergency. Saving an cat is not an emergency. If it was a much larger animal that could cause an accident then yes, that's cause to stop traffic. But not a cat. You'll learn all this when you go to learn to drive.
