Today, I opened up to my parents about my depression. Their response was to have a very heated discussion about whose fault it was. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, my shrink diagnosed me as severely depressive, due to a lot of stress and yells at home. After the session, my parents argued about whose fault it was and then went on to yell at me for being depressive and wasting their money. FML
Toxic parenting done right
Today, I finally confronted my parents about my depression and avoidant personality disorder. I showed them a well-kept journal of every time they've disregarded my feelings on something completely valid. I'd worked on this journal since I was ten years old. They denied it all and told me to "quit being a crybaby." FML
Support system
Today, my family finally noticed my depression because of how quiet, down and uninterested I’ve been. They responded by harassing me for saying nothing, calling me names, and making fun of me. Hmm, I wonder why I’m depressed. FML
Thanks for being so compassionate
Today, and for the past year, I've been struggling with depression because of family life. I've been talking to my mom for the past weeks, telling her things that happen when she isn't home as a way to build trust. I finally told her I have depression and have had had it for a long time. She laughed. FML
Narcissistic parenting
Today, my parents kept on trying to create drama in my long-distance relationship, and telling me that my life is a mess. But when I tell them they played a huge part in my crippling anxiety, they change the topic. FML
Maybe that's a good idea?
Today, I told my parents about my life problems, after they forced me to open up. Now they want to send me to a psychiatrist. Don't trust anyone. FML
Delusions
Today, I finally got the courage to tell my parents I think I'm suffering from schizophrenia. They refused to discuss it after telling me, "It's all in my head." FML
Today, I opened up to my best friend about my depression. Her response: "If you're so depressed, why don't you just kill yourself?" FML
CPTSD
Today, I realized my parents are pretty much single-handedly responsible for all of the mental illnesses and personality disorders I have now. FML
Keeping up appearances
Today, my parents screamed at me for being diagnosed as depressed, because I’m not allowed to be depressed, because me being depressed makes them look like bad parents who couldn’t raise a happy, normal child, so I have to be happy or I’ll be punished. FML

Unfortunately that is a normal reaction from parents, whether due to insecurities, lack of understanding or general fear. Regardless, you have made a huge step in pinpointing that you have depression. I hope you are able to get the help you need (meds and therapy). Speaking from experience, this is a long process to regain "normalcy," but stick with it. You can do this!
