Today, I learned the reason they say don't keep your phone in high humidity places. I left my phone on the counter when I went to take a shower. It now won't turn on due to water damage and the warranty doesn't cover it. FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, after dropping my phone in the toilet, I left it dismantled outside in my backyard to dry hoping it could be saved. I forgot about the phone as well as the sprinklers that were scheduled to go off. FML
Today, I woke up to find my cat had knocked my phone into the toilet. As I fished it out, soaking wet, I thought, "Well, at least it's water-resistant." Turns out, my phone wasn't. FML
Today, I was in my hot tub with my brand new phone. I set it down and when I grabbed my towel I knocked it into the water. I quickly snatched it up and dried it off with the towel, and surprisingly only one button stopped working. It was the unlock button, so now I have a perfectly good phone that I can't use. FML
Today, I dropped my phone in the toilet. Now I know why they call it 'smart' phone; it's smarter than me. FML
Today, I put my phone in the dishwasher by accident. I'd left it on the kitchen counter with a bunch of dirty stuff and, distracted, loaded it in with the plates. I only realized it when the dishwasher started making weird noises. My phone was soaked and blinking with bubbles inside. It didn’t survive. FML
Today, my roommate was making a waterproof iPhone case and decided to use my phone to test it out. It didn't work. FML
Today, my fancy rubber phone case did its job and saved my phone from damage when I dropped it on the bathroom counter. Unfortunately, it was rather useless after the massive bounce it took before landing in the toilet. FML
Today, I put my phone in the fridge to cool it down. Now it's cold, but it won't turn on. FML
Today, I got stuck with a water-damaged kitchen. The manufacturer says their warranty doesn't cover it as it's a user error, my insurance says they don't cover it as it's a manufacturer error. FML
Today, my little sister was using my phone to play games. About an hour later, she came to me and said my phone wouldn't work. Turns out my phone had gotten hot and she put it in water to cool it down. FML

Yea, that really sucks... But if you were told not to put it in a high humidity place and you did, YDI. Sidenote: put it in rice for a day. Dries it out niiice :)

Ouch, that bites. When my phone ends up in the restroom with me just before a shower I always put it on the floor and cover it with something. Not sure how much that helps...but it makes me feel better. Do try the rice method people have already suggested. Remove the battery and bury the device in rice. I fixed my girlfriends phone this way after she dropped her phone in the sink.

@ #21 I take my phone into the restroom with me. I don't use it while showering but there are other activities that happen in the same room that tend to take awhile. It's either read a newspaper or read FML.

Do you need to find out the hard way why you don't use a hairdryer in the bathtub also? You should seriously go buy a helmet.

how long were u in there 4 hrs. I repair electronics and I don't think 15 minutes of high humidity would do it. I've brought all my phones in the bathroom when I was going to shower and never had a problem.

If the rice doesn't work, you could always try placing it next to a dehumidifier. It worked for me
