Today, I had to cancel my wedding. On top of being upset about the break up, I was informed I owed a $900 cancellation fee for not using the venue. Single and broke. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Event canceled
Today, I had to cancel my $15,000 wedding and send a mass e-mail to 90 guests that there won’t be a wedding. My now-ex fiance got fired from his job. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, if it wasn’t for the fact he got his colleague pregnant. FML
All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Go
Today, I had to cancel a plane ticket to a friend's wedding, because first he gave me the wrong date, after which his fiancée cut me from the guests because of Covid safety. Instead of paying $600 to be in the ceremony, I'm paying $400 to not go anywhere because the ticket could only be partially refunded. FML
Priorities
Today, I called off my wedding because I found out he was cheating, but my daughter is more upset that she spent $400 on a bridesmaid's gown and now can't get a refund. FML
Today, my wedding venue called and canceled our reservation because we were double booked with a spaghetti bingo night, which they felt was more important. FML
Today, our wedding venue canceled on us, leaving us 8 months to find another in peak foliage season. My parents contacted the local news over the ordeal, but they're using my name and picture to make me look like a whiny brat who didn’t get her way. FML
Oh well, maybe next… year?
Today, I was supposed to get married. Unfortunately, it was cancelled because of the coronavirus. FML
Perfect timing!
Today my fiancé broke up with me. Two hours later, the store I bought my wedding dress from called to say it’s ready to be picked up. FML
Today, I found out less than three weeks before my wedding that my fiancé will lose his new, great paying job, unless we cancel our nonrefundable honeymoon. FML
Today, I was told by one of my bridesmaids that she can't afford the travel costs to get to my wedding, after telling me that she didn't need me to organize alternate free travel for her. I'm getting married in less than two weeks. FML
Today, because my fiancé is criminally incompetent at budgeting, I'm now having to pay the first installment for my own wedding ring. FML

If it wasn't meant to be it wasn't meant to be. ..$900 seems like a fair price instead of putting up with an unhappy marriage/divorce, which seems like where this marriage would have gone.

Well I hoped he helped pay the fee...

Sorry for the financial burden you have been left with. It is just salt on an open wound at this point. Its money lost, but money can be replaced. Wasted time however, cannot. I have two failed marriages behind me. Coming from those experiences, I can honestly say you are better to have ended it before the wedding. I had gotten married for all the wrong reasons. First one is blamed on youth. The second one is blamed on physical attraction only. I am now engaged to a woman that I have been friends with for over 10 years. It is a completely different and genuine experience this time around. Life seems to kick you when you are down, but when you manage to pick yourself up; you are stronger and wiser. I wish you the best for your future, whether happily single or happily joined. Just be happy.

Who initiated the breakup? And for what reason? I can't pass judgment until I get the full story.

I am sorry to hear but you are not alone-I cancelled 2 weddings in 2 years lost $$.. First as my fiance was mistakingly banned from the us(hawaii wedding, thousands for a lawyer as well) then 2 months to the date he left me as he got feelings for my sis. 6 years and thousands of dollars gone..

But always better to find out now than 10 years down the road and when kids may be involved (assuming they are not, but even if so still better now than later) it may take a while but you will be stronger and find someone who truley deserves you. If you need somone to talk to let me know <3

Just to clarify (char.limit)it was the same guy-rebooked just for him to leave me. We also share a condo which currently has no equity and I am unable to work due to an illness. There's always someone worse off. the wedding was supposed to be only $3,000 we ended up spending more not having it..

"We understand how this must be a very difficult time for you, we're very sorry for your loss and for all of the emotional turmoil you must be going through............... But we're gonna need that 900 bucks now." It's a sympathy-free world :( FYL!!!

This stuff pisses me off. Dont ask someone to marry you OR say YES if you arent absolutely certain you want to spend YOUR LIFE with that said person.
