Today, I got stuck in an elevator. I called the fire department and told them where I was. They said they'd be right there and not to panic. It's hour 6. FML

Today, I was stuck in my apartment complex's elevator. I was shouting out for help when a voice came screaming, "This is the fire department." I was relieved until he said, "Just kidding." FML
Today, I got stuck in an elevator for 45 minutes. I am an elevator mechanic. FML
Today, I got stuck in my building's elevator. I pushed the emergency button, which made a ringing noise. After about half an hour, I heard someone yell, "Stop pushing that button, my kids are sleeping." FML
Today, I worked up my courage and took an elevator for the first time in my life. Unfortunately, it was also my first time getting trapped for several hours in an elevator. FML
Today, I got stuck in an elevator. The help-line told me, "Don't touch the door. We'll be there soon". Two hours later, I had a headache, my legs were stiff, and my date must've thought I stood her up. The tech finally arrived, pries the door open, then rudely asked, "Why didn't you do that yourself?" FML
Today, I was stuck in the elevator for almost two hours. Where was the elevator mechanic? Next to me in the elevator. FML
Today, I got stuck in a revolving door and had to be rescued by the fire department after about 30 minutes of walking in circles with no open exit. At least they got a good laugh out of it. FML
Today, I got trapped in a glass elevator at the mall. My father walked right by the elevator, laughed and went into a store. A fireman got me out. FML
Today, I walked up sixteen flights of stairs to my room to avoid the lift lines. When I was almost at the top, the fire alarm sounded. FML
Today, after being trapped in an elevator for 4 hours, I really had to pee. Just when I decided to pee in the elevator shaft, the lift doors opened. FML

Where is the lift? Don't most places have the number for an engineer to help you inside them? I'd never call the fire brigade about being stuck in a lift if there were people in the building able to help me.

Downvote him however you like but at least in my country there is usually a numper for the company that installed it and in the two cases where I was stuck in elevators they arrived rather quickly and fixed the problem. I also suppose they know their systems better than the firefighters.

My building's elevator has a telephone button that connects you directly to the company that installed the elevators so they can help you in case of an emergency. It's great because you might not have your phone in hand when you get stuck.

Exactly. Most buildings seem to. Hence why I'm co fused as to why I'm getting down votes for pointing this sort of thing out. It's wasting the firemen's time otherwise, surely?

My friend who is a firefighter told me they sit in the lobby and wait for the company to drop the elevator. They would rather that than you get sliced in half if they tried to get you out and the elevator moved. But if you told them you were having a panic attack, they would have opened the doors.

I work on elevators for a living and I've never had the fire department wait for me. They have a safety procedure they follow for getting people out.
