Today, I got home from a family trip to Disney World. I had taken nearly 300 photos of our trip on my new digital camera. As our car pulled into the driveway, I was using my camera to try to delete one unflattering shot of me. I accidentally deleted every picture off the memory card. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Club Tropicana
Today, I forgot to take my phone out of my bathing suit pocket before I went into the pool. It's not a high-end phone, so that's not why FML. The FML part is because I was on vacation, didn't have internet access, and the phone has no external memory card, so all the pictures I took while on vacation are lost. FML
Today, my husband accidentally erased some pictures from our hard drive. No worries, nothing major: just everything from our wedding and the birth of our first child. FML
Today, at a family reunion, we all squeezed in for a picture. I set the self-timer and ran to get in it. 2 seconds before the picture went off, some guy came up, stole the camera, and ran away. FML
Today, I deleted a load of junk that was messing up my mother's computer. I don't know how I'm going to tell her I accidentally wiped out all of her wedding photos. FML
Today, my butt decided to delete the 650 photos I had on my phone. FML
Restore device
Today, I woke up to find out that my phone, which contained all of my pictures and videos from the past year, had completely crashed. Despite trying everything, I couldn't recover any of the data, even from the cloud backup. All those memories, gone forever. FML
Today, while backpacking in Switzerland I had my camera stolen. Not only does this have photos of my entire trip but the pictures I took for my best friend's wedding. I was the only photographer of her elopement. FML
File vs. Folder
Today, I accidentally deleted my landlord's pictures of his child's graduation, girlfriend, daughter, and vacation when he asked me to delete a video off his phone. FML
Snappy snaps
Today, I went to pick up some pictures I took on a family trip, but the person at the counter said someone else had already picked them up. Now not only am I out $20, some random creep has pictures of me and my whole family. FML
Today, I dropped my camera down 4 flights of circular stairs from the top of a lighthouse. Everything worked, it just had a few dents. Then, as I went to put it in my pocket, I missed. It fell 3 feet and hit the floor. Now it won't turn on. FML

What?! Every digital camera I've used has a confirmation step, so that you would have had to hit 'yes' or something like it twice to avoid situations just like the one the OP had.

I would have cried. Honest. I love taking pictures and I would hate for the same thing to happen to me.

ydi for being too noobish to understand how to use an 'undelete' program. They have an almost 100% recovery rate with photos, especially when all you did was delete photos off a locked memory stick (i.e. no other data gets written to it).

Fake all cameras ask if you want to delete all photos before it does it

Yeah. There are free programs that allow you to restore deleted data from your computer, flash drives, and memory cards. Just make sure you do not take any more pictures and you'll be fine. Just search for them on google or something and you'll find one.

Yup - should only take about 10 mins to recover. There should be a "I thought'FML' for 10 seconds button, then I remembered the intarweb". It'd be a FML it your camera got hit by a train and the only pic of your now deceased grandma was on the card, I think. Still, musta sucked for a few mins!

It is possible to retreive the pics as long as you havnt taken any more on the card after deleting, take it to a photo lab or professional photographer

Dear PictureLess! Don't make new fotos on this card -- the photos deleted from memory card can be recovered by specialists. So far new pictures don't occupy space on the card, the pictures are recoverable. (Btw, manual to my camera says that if you really want to delete pictures forever, you need not only delete them, but overwrite the card with new pictures). I am a journalist, and once I was made to delete photos from my camera -- but then I found a local computer service, where they recovered my photos. The pictures were published in the local newspaper later. I think that if such specialists and equipment are available in Russia, it is also quite available in New Jersey.

You don't even need a specialist to do that. Just connect your camera or memory card to a computer and use free software Recuva to recover deleted photos. http://www.piriform.com/recuva

That sucks. When I went to New York this summer, my laptop got stolen on the last day of my trip and I lost all the pictures I'd been transferring over from my camera. I was mad. Hope you get your photos back
