Today, I gave a presentation in class. I felt pretty good about it, until afterwards when I was told I lost points for communication because I'd been chewing gum. I wasn't, I just have a speech impediment. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Lazy ableism
Today, I gave a presentation. My teacher deducted points because I "need to learn how to speak more confidently, because you often stumble over your words." I have a stutter. FML
Today, while giving speech in class, I choked on my own spit and had a coughing fit while everyone stared at me intently. When I finally regained my composure, my teacher told me my time was up and to sit down. I hadn't even got finished the first paragraph. FML
Today, I was giving a presentation to my college class. I've had a natural stutter my whole life, so I stuttered through the whole thing. My professor tried to hold in her laughter for 15 minutes. FML
Today, I got put in a speech impediment class because apparently I have a lisp. No, my tongue is just swollen, and I can't talk very well because of it. I've talked normally for the past 17 years. FML
Today, we had a speaking assessment in Spanish class. When it was my turn, I yawned in the middle of a sentence, said, "Excuse me" and finished my sentence. She took points off because I hesitated and I spoke in English, not Spanish. FML
Is this a stand up show?
Today, I had a big presentation at work and I was feeling really confident. I'd practiced it over and over and I knew it inside out. But when I got up to speak, I realized I had left my notes at home. I ended up winging it and it was a disaster. FML
Today, I was teaching a small group of improv students. I asked one guy to do a monologue, and laughed to myself while he did so. I said, "Sorry, I'm just laughing at the way you're doing it." He then got upset and pointed out that he had a speech impediment. FML
Breaking
Today, I was giving a presentation when my voice cracked like a teenage boy going through puberty. The audience giggled every time it happened. FML
Today, I gave a presentation for my final on class. While I was giving the speech my shirt strap broke. I ended up flashing everyone including the teacher. At least I got an A. FML
Did I stutter?
Today, I had a job interview. I have a speech impediment and as much as I tried to keep it under control, it came out during the interview. I could tell the interviewers were trying to hold in their laughter. They ended the interview after 5 agonizing minutes, saying they’ll contact me. I left in tears. FML

Discuss with the teacher after class, op. Very not fair, FYL.

If it's a college course it's possible OP hasn't been formally introduced to the professor until then. He should definitely speak up and explain now though.

Have you actually told the teacher about it? Cause if this was an ESL class, the teacher was right to mark you down if they were unaware that you actually have a disability which makes your pronunciation incorrect.

ESL? sorry, I've never heard that term >

In high school: Get a parent's note and present it to your teacher. If s/he doesn't change your grade, visit the principle and see if you can get a hold of a former speech therapist, if you have/had one. In college: are you registered with your school's office of disabilities? If so, email/set an appointment to get advice. There's no reason you should be penalized for an impediment :)

I would think your teacher would already know that but talk to him/her privately and talk about the issue.

I've had a speech impediment for many years... I still struggle with it, and hated giving presentations in class, although I was never formally penalized for it, I know how much it can suck sometimes! Like others said, talk to the teacher in private, hopefully they are understanding and this will be quickly resolved. It's not fair you should lose pointd because of something beyond your control. I often wished in school that I had openly discussed it with a teacher in private before class, would have made my life so much easier...... Good luck op, hope they give you points back!

Well don't tell us, tell the teacher and she'll be overrun with shame a give your points back
