Today, I found out my grandpa died. As I rushed home crying to comfort my parents, I got pulled over for speeding. The officer told me to cut out the "fake" tears". When I told him my grandpa just died he tacked on another $100 for lying to an officer. Worst. Christmas. Ever. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was on the way to traffic court for a $340 speeding ticket I'd got. My mother called me and I wasn't paying attention which caused me to speed. Right past a cop. When I told the cop where I was going, he started laughing at me. I now have another $300 ticket. FML
Today, I was driving on the freeway when I get a call from my friend explaining that our two best friends died in a car accident. I pulled over in hysterics and a cop came to see what was wrong. I explained what happened and he gave me a ticket for talking on the phone while driving. FML
Bad news
Today, I was sitting at home when the police knocked on my door. They came inside, sat me down and told me that both my parents died in a car crash tonight. I started to cry, but about 10 minutes later, I find out they had the wrong person. I feel bad for the other guy. FML
Today, I crashed into a pole on purpose as a cop pulled me over for speeding. I figured the officer would feel bad for me and that the cost of fixing my car would be less than a ticket. He gave me one anyway. FML
Am I being detained?
Today, I got pulled over for speeding. I tried to make a joke to ease the tension and said, "I’m just trying to keep up with the traffic!" The officer looked around at the empty road and said, "What traffic? Are you under the influence? HANDS ON THE WHEEL!" It went downhill from there. FML
Festive spirit
Today, are you excited for Christmas? Because I'm sure not. When I was 14, my dad got hit by a car on Christmas. At 15, my dog died. When I was 16, I got not presents. When I was 17, the Christmas tree was stolen. I wonder what's next… FML
It wasn't me, officer
Today, I was pulled over and was given a $300 ticket for going 90mph on a 70mph highway. The cop swore he saw my silver car darting in and out of traffic. A couple of minutes earlier that exact car had passed me while I was following the speed limit. FML
Great move
Today, I got pulled over for speeding. Knowing how much more it would cost in the long run, I handed the officer my license with $300 in cash, "as something to consider for just a warning." He came back with a ticket and verbally warned me that police bribery is a felony. He kept the money. FML
Classic
Today, I got pulled over for going a few miles per hour over the speed limit. The cop asked for my license and registration. I happened to look down at my wallet while he was processing everything and saw my license in my wallet. I gave the cop my fake I.D. FML
Nervous
Today, I was driving my grandpa to the store because his car is in the shop. I was well within the speed limit, but he kept yelling at me for "speeding", then accused me of trying to give him a heart attack, and eventually pulled the e-brake, getting us rear-ended. He refuses to apologise. FML

so go to appeals court with the death certificate and at least get the 100 taken off

Except... you don't get fined for lying to an officer simply BECAUSE they can't know what's a lie and what isn't.

I don't know how people could think you deserve that, Sorry to hear about your grandpa :-(

They were speeding, and got a speeding fine. How did they not deserve it? The lying bit, if true, they didn't deserve - and as such, they can dispute it and likely get it resolved in their favour.

I love how people here think they understand traffic and criminal laws. I'm a cop, and normally give people warnings unless they've caused an accident or they're exceptionally rude to me. maybe the state you're in does have a traffic law regarding lying in general. here, we don't have such a law. your best bet is to go to court and present your evidence. if the cop fails to appear, plead NOT GUILTY and go home. if he's there, plead guilty with an explanation and present the death certificate.

i'm soo so sorry :( '43: wtF is your problem?
Kukironosuke 16
what is your problem? death isnt the end of the world people need to be able to take deaths of loved ones in stride, making a big fuss of a death is a mock to the living memory of the relative, when a loved one dies, cry alone if you want in a corner(for a short while), and just smile at the thought of them, theres no need to let death cause stress and a foreboding feeling of dispair

Show up in court with a death certificate.

Whilst you shouldn't have been speeding, I understand how you feel. FYL for sure, and I hope you manage to get out of the extra $100. And sorry about your Granddad :(
