Today, I found out I wasn't invited to my neighbor's funeral, with whom I had been good friends with for a long time. When I asked her husband why, he said, "We have a small amount of money and can't afford for you to eat all of the refreshments." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I spent a lot of money buying a birthday gift for a close friend, only to find out I'm not even invited to the party. FML
Today, one of my closest friends informed me that she wasn't going to invite me to her wedding, because I'm too shy and not enough fun, and she doesn't want her 200 or so guests to feel uncomfortable. I was the one who set the happy couple up. FML
Today, I found out that I'm not welcome at my boyfriend's dad funeral, because his ex-wife has invited herself, and it would be too awkward to explain to his extended family, most of whom apparently don't yet know that he's divorced. FML
A day to remember
Today, I arrived at my best friend's wedding and found out that my invitation was no longer valid. His brother tried to explain that they'd decided to make the ceremony for family members only, then two our classmates popped out to say hello. They're not related, neither to my friend nor to his fiancée. FML
Today, I found out my best friend had 3 birthday parties for herself over the weekend. I wasn't invited to any of them. When I asked her why, she said I "didn't fit in" to any of the groups that were at the parties. All my other friends were invited. FML
Roadie
Today, a friend asked me if I could help him set up the stage for his wedding. Feeling honored that he considered me a close enough friend to aid him on his special day, I agreed to help. Turns out we aren't so close. I was asked to leave after I was done because I hadn't actually been invited. FML
Bye Felicia!
Today, I rang up a good friend to ask her to be one of the two bridesmaids at my upcoming wedding. Before I could ask, she let me know that she would not be attending my wedding, as, "Weddings are expensive, so I'm not attending ones for people that are just acquaintances." FML
Today, I was told I'm not invited to my best friend's birthday party. Apparently, being divorced and childless doesn't "mesh" well with the rest of the group. My parents are still watching her kids so she can go away for the weekend. FML
Some BFF…
Today, I found out that my best friend was having a birthday party and I wasn't invited. I had just finished planning a surprise party for her. FML
Surprise!
Today, after I spent months assisting my 'work bestie' with planning/arranging her "Surprise!" wedding, Surprise! I wasn't invited. FML

Go to the funeral. You don't have to go to the get-together afterwards. The funeral part is completely different. Maybe explain that to him. He is grieving and try to be understanding, even if he is being an ass.

That was totally unnecessary. I'm sorry op :/

So much the better. You won't have to buy flowers to put on his grave. But seriously you don't need an invitation to go to the ceremony or to the burial. They take place in public places.

you don't have to be invited to funerals. You want to pay your respects and say goodbye, and you have every right to do so! Screw him and what he thinks!

If you still want to go, do so - she was your friend after all. In fact, bring something along to supplement their food and to show you do want to help and understand in their time of grief and sorrow.

Funeral invites?

I know right? Don't people usually just stick a notice in the paper?

Actually in some countries - like the Netherlands - funerals are attended if you have an invite. We send cards with time and date of funeral if we want you to attend. If we don't want you to attend we just send cards with the notice that our loved one passed away. @40, That should have nothing to do with it. That's basic prejudice.

You can always do what we do in the south bring a dish to share and visit to say good bye to your friend

I don't know... Perhaps the one who died didn't really care for OP and complained a lot about her to her husband... Some people have friendships that are one sided

Have you perhaps been to an event where you DID eat all the refreshments?

Do you usually eat everything but the drapes?
