Today, I fell in a river with a £700 camera, a £200 lens, and an iPhone while trying to rescue a 50 pence ball for my dog. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Splashed out
Today, I took my dog for a walk down by the river. I was throwing sticks for him with one hand and talking on the phone with the other. Then I accidentally threw my phone in the river instead of the stick and was standing there talking to the stick while my phone sat at the bottom of the river. FML
Today, I dropped my camera into water. The good news is that it's waterproof. The bad news is I dropped it off London Bridge. All the pictures and videos of my four-month trip around Europe were on it. FML
Pentaxed
Today, I lost my balance while crossing a creek and fell in. I had my camera on me at the time. It's fried, and I don't have the $2K I need to replace it. FML
Good boy
Today, I was walking my dog through a park with a lake. My dog was swimming in said lake, and then appeared to be having trouble keeping his head up. I put my phone and keys on the ground and waded to my dog. He was fine, but I turned around in time to see someone run off with my stuff. FML
Today, I dropped my camera down 4 flights of circular stairs from the top of a lighthouse. Everything worked, it just had a few dents. Then, as I went to put it in my pocket, I missed. It fell 3 feet and hit the floor. Now it won't turn on. FML
Today, a few weeks after teaching my dog to fetch my phone and drop it in my lap, he decided to do it spontaneously. Too bad I was in the bath at the time. There goes a $300 phone. FML
Today, while taking pictures by the pool, my friend wanted to use my camera. I told her to put the wrist strap on so it wouldn't fall into the pool. She dropped the camera while trying to put the strap on. FML
Butterfingers
Today, I was tasked with taking a photo of my best friend getting engaged. As her boyfriend got down on one knee, I got so nervous that I fumbled the camera. It landed right in the lake. I didn’t get a single picture, and now I owe them a new Canon EOS R10. FML
Cool banana!
Today, I tripped on a rock, fell in a pond, and lost my phone. All while dressed as a banana for a charity run. FML
RIP
Today, while on a nature hike with friends. I tried to take a selfie at the edge of a cliff with the majestic view as a backdrop, but I slipped and dropped my phone. It's now RIP (resting in pieces) at the bottom of a ravine. FML

That sucks but your heart was in the right place. You know how much your doggie loves his ball.

You don't take that stuff to a river. Keep it locked in your car. You just voided your warranty with Apple, but maybe you can get your camera and lens replaced? FYL

My 11 yr old daughter did the same thing with her $250 camera in the ocean trying to get a seashell as a souviner on our vacation. That was our only camera for our vacation!

Maybe you should consider not having over $1,000 worth of electronics with you when going near water.

Why didn't you leave ball if it was only .50 cents?
PedoBearTrap 4
@160 (Nessalujin) Er, I'm afraid you're wrong in a few ways there buddy. 50 pence does not equal 50 cents. The exchange rate is approx. 1.60USD to every Pound (or Quid if you prefer) Also, .50 cents does not equal 50 cents. If you were to use a decimal there, you would say: .50 dollars, as .50 cents is the same as $.005 not $.50. ^ I'm not being a grammar Nazi, I'm just clarifying. And to answer your question, the ball probably fell into a small lake or bay, and the OP figured he would just grab it really quickly, but slipped and fell in. Most people wouldn't just leave the ball floating there, especially if the situation is not screaming that it may be hazardous. It was supposed to just be a few second pick-up-and-go action. There was no blatant misjudgment on the OP's behalf.

i hope most of you realize that the people saying "dumb brits" or "stupid money" are only doing so to get a rise out of you? Or they're 10.

YDI you pretentious arse. Bet you thought you looked really artistic and cool walking around with that SLR that you barely know how to use. Oh I know your type. Keep hold of your Apples, Crocs and huge cameras and convince yourself that you are beyond us, the mindless capitalist sheep in our white-collar 9-5s. Prick.

isn't iphone waterproof?

I want to know where you get a waterproof Iphone. Ive seen Iphone have "water-damage" just from a really humid day. The only waterproof product Apple has is the "Irack" If you dont know what the Irack is, youtube it.
