Today, I called the florist and ordered a flower arrangement for my grandma, who I was told was sick. I said I didn't know what to get her, so just to send her something nice. I got a call from my mom calling me an inconsiderate bastard. They sent my grandma forget-me-nots. She has Alzheimer's. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, after spending $120 to have a bouquet of flowers delivered to my mom, she called to complain that I had forgotten about her for Mother's day, but also praise my sister for apparently receiving my flowers I sent at the door and passing them off as hers. FML
Today, I bought some flowers. As I was checking out, the cashier asked, "Aww, these for your mom? How sweet." I responded they were for a girl I liked. She laughed and said, "Sorry…" FML
Today, I sent a $120 bouquet of flowers for mother's day. When I called tonight see if my Mom got them, she replied that they were still on the doorstep because she "didn't want the dogs to get excited and start barking" when she opened the front door to bring them in. FML
Today, I called off work saying my Great Grandmother died. A co-worker texted me later asking where and when the funeral was. I made up a lie and said some random funeral home and date. My co-workers sent flowers to the funeral home for condolences. The flowers were returned. FML
Today, my mom asked me to help pick out clothes for my grandma to wear in her casket. I didn't know she'd died. FML
Today, I got flowers sent to my work, I happily opened them in front of my co-workers thinking they were from my crush, I open the card to see "Love you, from mom". My mother thinks my love life is so pathetic, thats she needs to send me flowers to cheer me up. FML
Today, my Mom came to pay me a short visit at college. She handed me some flowers, which were a Valentine's Day gift, because she "figured I wouldn't be getting any from anyone else this year." FML
Out of control
Today, my grandma, who was placed in a hospice a few months ago, started to decline in health and passed away, The day before she died I thought my girlfriend was so sweet because she took a leading role in her care, just to find out she didn’t care about her at all. It was just an act to steal her pain medication. FML
Newsflash from beyond the grave
Today, I found out my deceased grandmother never liked anything that I bought for her. She would never say anything to not hurt my feelings. The only reason I bought those things in the first place was because growing up she told me that she liked them. Now that she's gone, I'm hearing what she really thought. FML
Get up!
Today, I bitched out my grandmother, who lives with my family, for being lazy and laying in bed until 6-7pm for the past month. When I was done, she told me she had been diagnosed with cancer and was depressed because of it. Nobody had bothered to tell me. FML

Aww!! That's really not your fault...you were just trying to do something nice. I hate when good deeds backfire. And I'm sorry about your grandma. :(

That is one of the most ironic things ever. I don't see what the big deal is though, it's just a name of a flower. And I disagree with #1. Flowers are a very thoughtful gift to those who are sick, especially if in a hospital. It brightens their day, and as a consequence they feel better, and get well faster.

Comment moderated for rule-breaking.
So you put zero thought into a gift for your grandmother and you are upset that someone called you an inconsiderate bastard?

Hahaha funny your comment didnt relate to what you replied to and tried to get your useless, meaningless comment that is true for most fml's to the top where everyone can not care about it and waste their time on your inability to say anything worthwhile

#63 You obviously didn't understand the sentence. What they meant is that the flowers put them in a good mood, so they tend to heal faster.

63 If people gave you flowers while you were in the hospital you would be happy, resulting in some chemical blah dee blah that helps you get well. On the other hand if you get nothing, you feel like crap and nothing happens.

@1 How is that zero thought? Flowers are an ideal gift for a sick person, especially when you consider how drab and plain hospitals look. He simply didn't know what flowers to get, I know I wouldn't know in that situation either =/.

I think #1 was referring to the fact that the person couldn't be thoughtful enough to know what the grandmother would like, not that flowers weren't thoughtful. I think the point was that the person relied on the flower shop to choose the flowers. I agree that it sucks, but it is pretty funny...sorry.

Well I don't even know my own favorite flower. OP gets props for even considering digging around for a grandmother's favorite flower at all.

You should have just got her, her favorite.

Oh, psshaw. Your gram-gram needs to lighten up. If I was an old fogey with alzheimers and my grandkids got me some of those, I'd have laughed hysterically-- and I'd probably remember them better, too. ironies and double entendres make the best mnemonic devices.

That's funny in a very wrong way. xP

Your mum is annoying.

well not everyone has an indepth education in flower names, I mean you could've easily gone to the place thought to yourself "wow gran would love these" not knowing what they were called and sent them over. Be glad you didn't deliver them personally. Sorry to hear about your gran. pretty ironic..

haha. thats awesome it wasn't intentional so you can't feel to bad. but i think i definately would do that on purpose now.
