Today, my dog was diagnosed with a torn ACL. This costs $1500-$2500 to treat. Three months ago, he had heart worms. That cost $1400 to treat. I adopted this dog from a shelter four months ago to help relieve some of my stress and anxiety. I don't feel any less stressed or anxious. FML

Today, I’ve been battling an aggressive form of cancer for the past 3 years. Due to the financial strain, I started a GoFundMe. I’m grateful for what I got, but a friend also started one for her dog’s surgery and got thousands of dollars. Guess the dog is more important than my kids having a mom. FML

Today, I took my dog to the vet because he hadn't eaten his food in three days, was drinking a lot of water, and was peeing a lot (all signs of antifreeze poisoning). I spent $200 at the vet to tell me that my dog is fine and just didn't like his current food. FML

Today, I splurged thousands of dollars on the breed of dog that I've loved since I was a kid from a reputable breeder. He is allergic to all food except the 24lb food for $70 and has sensitivities galore, including a seizure from a shot. I've spent $5,000 in vet bills in the first week. FML

Today, my cat was hit by a car. I took it to the vet expecting the worst but they told me that she’d be fine. I was so happy I didn't even mind paying the $50 bill. The next morning my cat was dead. Having her put down humanely would have cost $45, I paid $5 extra to have her die in my kitchen. FML

Boo ******* hoo, some guy took his own hard earned money and paid for something they care about's health instead of listening to some dumb **** on the internet and giving it to charity. What about people who spend hundreds of thousands more to buy a bigger house, even though they don't really a house that big? Shouldn't they have given their money to charity? What about billionaires who spend their money on playboy bunny slaves? How many little African kids would you save if he gave all his money to charity? Face it you dumb *****, giving your money to charity is an option, stop making it seem like this guy was obligated to do it just because he spent money on his dog. You know what else people do? They spend loads of money buying food for their dogs! And pfft, we ALL know dogs don't need food! They should have spend that money on some poor kids in Africa with AIDS to let them live a few more days even though they're already on death row because no amount of money even in your stupid ******* idealistic bubble could save them all. Grow the **** up.

My dog is my life and I'd sooner give $15K to the local no kill shelter than use it to treat my dog's cancer. Any research you do shows that it is RARE that chemo/treatments actually stop the cancer. At best it slows it down, at worst it does absolutely nothing except cause the dog to suffer more and cause other peripheral health problems. Unfortunately, cancer is usually a death sentence for dogs. I would have euth'd my dog and used the money instead to help find homes for some of the 7 million dogs euthanized for lack of a home in the US every year (I'm sure the number in Canada is large as well).

I'm sorry to say it but ydi. unless it's an award winning championship show dog how can you justify spending $15,000 on a dog? I've spent a few hundred on my dogs when they get bit by a snake but are otherwise healthy but much more than that just seems a bit crazy.

I feel really bad for you. Just about a week ago my dog died from a ******* bee sting. He was some how allergic to it and went into epileptic shock and couldn't stop bleeding from his rear and where the IV's were. Ended up putting him to sleep.
