Today, after a guided meditation class, our instructor asked us all to name the thing we are most thankful for. My fiancé, completely serious, answered, "Nintendo." When the teacher looked at him, slightly incredulously, he changed his answer to, "Our dog." FML

Sounds like a pretty judgy environment. I doubt your fiancé expected such a micro-aggression in what's supposed to be a safe space.

Haha, rookie mistake! Obviously, he slipped up and MEANT to say that he was thankful for Ba'al, eater of souls. We're ALL thankful for Ba'al and the inexorable passage of time that brings us ever closer to Him. Your fiancé is a goof!

Why is Nintendo not an acceptable answer? A lot of people turned to games to see them through tough times. Nintendo has saved a lot of lives by simply existing. Maybe ask your fiance why he said Nintendo. For all you know, Mario was his therapist when he was at his lowest!

Op here! In all honesty, it just made me laugh. I'm very secure in my relationship with him, and Nintendo and our dog are both pretty damn awesome. The instructor was less amused. I think my answer was probably equally annoying to her, however.
