This is terrible!

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I locked my keys in my car. I had a spare key in my wallet, that I also left in the car. FML
Today, I locked myself out of my car. While walking home to retrieve the spare, I realized I locked my house keys inside the house this morning. Now I must decide whether to break into my house or car. FML
Today, whilst heading out the door to go to work, my lanyard got caught on the doorknob inside, and I watched my keys swing back inside as the door closed behind me. It was locked. FML
Today, as I was closing my car door, I realized I had left the keys in the ignition. Not wanting to lock myself out, I reached to stop the door from closing. Not only did I scream when the door slammed on my hand, but in my furious pain, I leaned on the door, locking my keys inside. FML
Today, in a rush to get out of my house to go to a doctor's appointment, I closed the door behind me without having my house or car keys on me. Sadly, it took me less than a minute to break into my own house. FML
Today, I locked the door to our only bathroom so my two year old wouldn't get in and make a mess. I crapped my pants while trying to unlock it with the key that rests on the frame. FML
Today, I woke up unusually early for an appointment and got ready real quick. Only after passing the front door did I realize I had forgotten my sleeping baby inside. FML
Today, my one-year-old son locked me out of the house. I had no spare key and both him and my 4-month-old decided that was the perfect time to scream bloody murder. FML
Today, I locked my keys in the car while the car was running because I got out to get the parking ticket attached to my windshield. FML
Today, I was looking for my condo keys, thinking I had left them in my mailbox on the first floor the night before. Leaving to check, I realized I'd forgot to take them out of my door when I had come in, leaving them in the keyhole. FML

What kind of door locks automatically like that? I must have a really old house... older than I thought. :O Seriously though, if you knew your door would do that, you should have taken keys with you.

Depends on where in the house the baby is. Find a room without the baby and smash the window. But better to make sure you have keys in hand before stepping out the door. Doesn't she have to engage the deadbolt?

Are you gonna pay for the window?

They make electronically-actuated dead bolts, but usually those also have a keypad for typing in an access code. They also make locks that stay locked from the outside but can be opened from the inside without resorting to a key. These are more common in office buildings.

I have one of the second locks, locks from the inside, on the door that comes off my carport.

We had a dead bolt and a doorknob lock on our house growing up. My mom had the habit of hitting the button on the doorknob on her way out the door. It was so much a part of her routine that she would lock herself out at least three times a week while doing yard work. I eventually had to hide about ten keys outside the house so she could find one and prevent me from having to leave school/work to let her back in.

depending where she lives, a burglar may not be too hard to find

Don’t feel bad it can happen if you have a lot on you mind I would check to see if a window is unlocked and climb in. Otherwise call 911 Depending where you live you should hide a key outside your house or see if you can leave a key with a neighbor or if you live somewhere where there is a management leave a key with them( or see if they have a key to let you in, most do to do maintenance work) If you have to smash a window it’s not the end of the world, your baby’s safety is more important.

This is why you should tell babies how to use keys

I've been locked out of the house by my own child. Accidents happen, don't feel bad. Luckily, my house was almost broken into a few years back so I stole that guys idea on how to break into my own home when I'm locked out. Beginning to think that hiding a key may be a better option...
