The void
Today, my depression has hit a new low. I had to verbally motivate myself for at least an hour in order to wash two plates. I ended up giving up in the middle, and completely shutting down for six hours afterwards. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my depression has reached the point where I don't even have the energy to seriously pursue any hobbies. Any time I find the motivation to try something new, I immediately get discouraged at the slightest difficulties, and become even more depressed. I don't even know why I'm trying anymore. FML
Today, I realized that I haven’t showered in a week. I feel disgusted that I took so long to notice, it didn’t even cross my mind at all. Due to my depression, I’ve lost all motivation. FML
Today, I diagnosed myself with a debilitating case of vicious circle: I am now too depressed to do the things that usually manage to pull me out of my depression. FML
Today, dealing with anxiety and depression, I finally got up the energy to bake. I chose homemade enchiladas. I then spent the whole day walking from the toilet to the nearest couch (and vice versa), feeling like my intestines were going to blow. No more enchiladas for me for a long time. FML
Today, I've zero motivation to even live life. I've stopped doing even the little things I like. My husband tries hard to cheer me up and keep things going, but I just want to curl into a ball and die. I'm too scared to take depression medication as it makes me fat. FML
Today, my depression caused me to sleep through my appointment to try and get more antidepressants. We love mental instability. FML
Today, after working 24 of the last 26 days, 12+ hour shifts in public safety, I find myself so exhausted, stressed, and depressed, that I'm literally sitting in bed, staring at the wall, waiting for my next shift. None of my hobbies or vices hold any interest for me whatsoever, and I'm being a bitch to my family. FML
Today, I was feeling depressed. I overheard my mom crying on the phone. She said, “If my daughter kills herself, who’s going to do the dishes?” FML
Today, my dad insists I have to deep clean my bathroom multiple times a day, because in his words: “Once a day just isn’t cutting it.” I have depression. FML
Today, I sat on the sofa for eleven hours, paralyzed with anxiety. When my husband got home, nothing was done. We ate cold sandwiches off paper plates. Now he has to catch up on everything and I feel so useless I could just cry. FML

Clean plates are overrated. Eating a little filth keeps your immune system on its toes.

Sometimes, shutting the hell up and letting something go without commenting on it is the best choice to make.

Not in this case. Mine was the only comment that was worth a shit this time. I feel I gave the OP some valuable insightful support.

I’m another one who’s dealing with the same thing. It’s hard.

Don’t let insults get to you, everyone handles things differently, not having the will to do what people consider a simple task is nothing to be ashamed of and is not the same thing as being lazy. I was called lazy for most of my life and became a “neat freak” to an unhealthy point. When I was finally old enough to be able to see a doctor on my own it turned out that I have a REM sleep disorder which drains my energy and causes depression. Their are some amazing advances in mental health, like TMS, or drug therapy. If you are in the US and have insurance maybe try to schedule a tele conference with a licensed psychiatrist. If you don’t have insurance there are still services available, I used a network called LifePath Systems when I was uninsured and they have access to free doctors and medicines. If you are from a country with universal healthcare I am sure there will be resources you can find. It is a lot easier nowadays to find help online. Good luck and I hope you find something that helps you get on a road to recovery, remember this is only temporary!
