Sometimes you need a mess of help to stand alone

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Today, I realized I don't have a family, I only have garbage people who have been sucking my time, my money, and my life from me. FML
Today, it’s almost my birthday. Instead of the big fun celebration I’d hoped to have, I’ve cut ties with most of my deeply toxic friend group. I think being alone is better than being surrounded by fake friends and real enemies, but still… FML
Today, I was feeling really down and decided to text a friend to vent to someone about it. Then I realized, I don’t have any friends. FML
Today, I realized why my depression is so bad. No matter how hard I try, I have always been a replaceable presence in everyone's lives, and I have never felt like anyone couldn't live without me. Not even family. FML
Today, I have no close friends, only "people I know and occasionally talk to." I have no idea how I got here, and how to re-socialize back. FML
Today, and thanks to my psychologist, I realized I have yet again wasted years on a one-sided friendship, after said friend cut me out of his life without even speaking to me. The reason? I told him to talk to the people he had issues with before cutting them out of his life. FML
Today, I've had to accept that, despite my efforts to stay in touch with the few friends I made at college, I have zero friends. FML
Today, after growing tired of my friends group leaving me behind every time and having secrets between them, I started to ignore them and stopped following them, without saying anything. They haven't spoken to me since, and it's been 7 months. I'm alone. FML
Today, I realized I'm more happier alone than I ever will with somebody else. FML
Today, after dumping my ex for being married, I realized he'd been my best friend too, and I have no one to tell the funny, mundane bits about my day. I never realized until now how much I needed that. FML

That may be true for now, but you now have the ability to make new friends. Trust will be hard and there will be a lot of damage to repair. Be sure not to wallow in despair and cynicism. There are good, non-toxic people out there.

Find a local hobby club. Get back into just being comfortable socialising with other people to start with. Once you are good with just chatting and laughing with people again and have built up some confidence in yourself, you can start expanding into actual friendships. Little steps will eventually get you a long way. Just be sure you're going in the right direction this time. Good luck 🍀

You're just realizing now that people are toxic?

"Been there done that and I'm so much happier & life is good now" without all that toxicity!!! This will be your new mantra as well. The first step is the hardest but with each step it'll get a little easier. Just keep looking forward and don't forget to be proud of yourself for your accomplishments. But also don't forget to have some fun once in awhile 😁 ya only live once!!!

Sounds like a win to me, because you're free of them and their toxicity. As the great Whitney Houston sang, "I'd rather be alone than unhappy." I'm sure in time you'll find better friends.

I know people will downvote you, but I agree with you. I had to lose a lot of people before realizing I was the problem.
