Today, my sister and I were planning a trip to get away from things and visit some faraway friends. My dad then decided to insert himself into our plans. He got mad when we said no, and couldn't understand why we wanted to go by ourselves. FML
Although he might've just wanted to spend some quality time, he should also have respected the possibility they may just want to spend some time together when he was told no. Assuming it was a respectful no.

That's kind of rude to purposely not include him in your plans when he asks to join though. Imagine if the situation was reversed, you would feel left out too.
Personally, I've never felt left out when my dad goes to visit his friend's in other states. I'd ruin his ability to be as free as he want to be with his friends, and I don't exactly see the fun in tagging along on a trip to visit people I don't know that well, and am in a vastly different age group from. Honestly, the situation just sounds like it'd be miserable all around.
My mom is the same way! If I make plans with my sisters we have to keep it from her or she will invite herself! it's not like we don't see her or talk to her everyday, she wants to include herself in everything!
Have you just experienced an FML moment?

It's also rude to invite yourself to things that other people are planning by themselves. They don't ALWAYS have to do things as a whole family.
