Today, my parents asked me if I was sure I didn't want to join them on a family trip tomorrow with my sister. I was never invited, and unlike the rest of the family, I have a full-time job where I can't just take days off with no warning. This is how they announce most "family trips" to me. FML

Today, I told my parents I really missed them and wanted to come home for the weekend, as I haven't seen them in months. They told me that was a bad idea and they couldn't fit me into their schedule. I asked what their plans were. They said they didn't have any yet. FML

Being in 3 honors and an A.P. class, I said that I didn't want to go. I got called an "ungrateful, little prick". FML

Communicate with them. Ask them to give you more warning so you can plan ahead and see if you can take off work and go. Or you can harbor resentment and let it impact your stress levels for the rest of your life. Don’t get me wrong, they definitely suck for this and are inconsiderate. But if you want the actual option to go in the future, speak up.
